1. I played one at the Gallery a few weeks back. The fanned frets were very easy to get used to and the low strings felt very tight. However I didn't really like the neck profile on the Dingwall and build quality wasn't amazing for the price.
2. Is this neck through? Would he be up for a straight sale?

Spector!

Having owned two 5 string Euros and a Rebop I must say that they are surprisingly similar. The Rebop actually seems to have a slightly larger lower cutaway and a slightly different neck profile. The Euro has real EMGs and will sound a bit clearer but HZs are still pretty good. Also, the big bonus of the Rebop is that it doesn't have a painted neck. So in answer to your question, I'd say go for a Rebop if you can.
4. I've not got much to trade in terms of bass gear, other than a Peavey bass head an an Ashdown cab. Unless you'd be interested in an Ibanez 6 string guitar? If I can move some of the stuff I'd be up for a straight sale.
5. Personally I'd recommend against refinishing it yourself unless you've got experience and the equipment. I look forward to seeing the progress though.
6. That schecter C1 sounds interesting, do you have any pictures of it?
7. I picked this up about a week ago. It's a really nice sounding guitar but it's a little too heavy for me and it's too similar my Jackson for me to justify keeping it! The previous owner filled in a ding and painted it over with Dulux wall emulsion. I removed the paint (wiped off with a damp cloth!) but now there's a patch of paint missing on the front near the bridge (about 1" in diameter) Other than that the guitar has a few other minor dings but is in reasonable condition. It's a fantastic sounding and playing guitar. It's also a refinish (or even a suitably placed sticker! ) away from being a fantastic looking guitar I'm not looking for a sale right now. I'd prefer to trade it for a guitar that is worth the same new but also a bit cosmetically damaged perhaps. Alternatively I'm looking for a few bits and bobs in trade, namely (with appropriate cash adjustment): Recording equipment Small valve guitar combo Guitar parts (namely some pickups and a floyd rose) Guitars, basses and anything else interesting you might have
8. Thanks for the advice! I'm not sure how I'd get bass traps in the the end of the room with the door as traps in one corner would block the door and the other corner would get in the way of my bed. Can I get away with smaller ones in that corner? Would having two bass traps at the front, in the corners either side of the window, help by themselves?
9. Here's a quick sketchup model of what I imagine my room will look like after I've rearranged it. Currently the desk is in the right corner by the window. I guess I'll need some bass traps - where, how big and how many? The window is two panes of double glazed glass, floor is carpet over wood, ceiling is a little plaster plus a lot of roof insulation and wood struts. All of the walls are plaster over brick and there's a cupboard built into one of the walls. And a quick animation. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers! I don't actually have the HS50Ms, just found the model in the Sketchup model bank.

DI boxes

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/867382/dunnProfireBSS.mp3 Half of this clip was recorded with the instrument input on my new M audio Profire 2626. The other half was recorded through a nice BSS Audio AR-133 Di box into the aforementioned Profire. Can you guys tell the difference?
11. Here's my Euro:
12. I'm looking to improve my theory and improvisation skills. I've been playing for 5 years and I did the RGT grade 8 a while ago but I still don't feel confident at all Preferably somebody local to S11/S10 but failing that anywhere closer than Rotherham would be good!
13. I can't find them anywhere for less than £650, perhaps the prices have gone up recently just like everything else? With regards to acoustic treatment, fibreglass makes me itchy (presumably rockwool will do too) so I'd like to avoid having it in my room if at all possible. Is "acoustic" foam also used for taming bass frequencies?
14. The A7s are almost double my budget. How do the A5s compare?
15. I used to have an old, battered 1986 Ibanez Roadstar guitar. It was a really cool guitar and I think the Joe Satriani signature guitars are based on that body shape. I won't desecrate this bass thread with pictures of it though!
16. If you were closer, I'd be very interested.

Show us your rig!

Those Schecter Jazz-type basses are so cool. I've been wanting one for ages but they never turn up when I have money. I found a battered one for sale but it's a little pricy.
18. Just checked out the songs on your Myspace - it's really great stuff.
19. I've already called him. He's done work on my guitars before and he's been top notch. I was mainly wondering if there were any dedicated paint guys around my area.
20. I'm in the market for some new monitors with a budget of around £400 The current contenders are: KRK Rokit RP5/RP6/RP8 Yamaha HS80M/HS50M Yamaha MSP5 Adam A5 Tannoy Reveal 5As I'm in a small room, so would it be better to go for smaller speakers + a subwoofer?

Free VSTs

The DAW is the program you use to do your recording in. Eg. Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper etc.
22. Mine didn't fit my MIM Jazz 100% there was a bit of a gap between the end of the fretboard and the pickguard.
23. I've got an ESP that could really do with a refinish; it'll just be something simple like a solid white or solid black. Can you guys recommend anybody (preferably around the Yorkshire area) that could do it?
24. Best: Electro Music in Doncaster, GuitarGuitar in Newcastle. Worst: Wizard Guitars, Sheffield - I have nothing good to say at all about these guys.
