1. You could buy a Mesa Road ready cab with a full flight cases for both head and cabs and then you will really appreciate how light your current rig actually is! Alternatively, you could hit up the gym
2.
Here's my Sonus. Great little bass.
Is that a Wilkinson bridge I see on there?
3.
I love this pic, I borrowed a couple of extra cabs from those nice people at ampeg for a video shoot we did last year and tho the shot never made it to the video, every time I see this pic I can,t help but smile.. I wish I had a chance at using this setup at a gig!!
If that didn't make it into the video, what did?!
4. If you used your credit card through Paypal you can probably get a chargeback done through your bank and the Paypal dispute will most likely side with you on this.
5. Rage Against the Machine has always been one of my favorite bands so I decided to learn all of their first album today, only took about 2 hours. Looking back I remember it took me weeks to nail Bombtrack and Wake Up when I first started playing Anyway, does anybody know what bass Tim used to record the albums with? I've read that that "Rage Against the Machine" was a Stingray - an anyone confirm that? I can't hope to get his exact tone, especially since most of it is amazing production on the recordings but I'd like to get closer. Although I reckon my Jazz wired in series can sound similar. I think I'm gonna work on "Evil Empire" now, Rage songs are just so fun to play!
6. Bump! Laney is gone, but the Ibby is still available.
7. Cool, you're from Sheffield too. The bass is looking really good. I was thinking of doing the course and was going to build almost the exact same thing! One quick question, do you end up using a lot of the big power tools to get things done (bandsaw, table saw, planer etc) or do you use more hand tools and hand held power tools?
8. Hey, Do you know where the bass was made? Are Corts still Korean?
9. Does anybody here use a Status for straight up rock/metal? Everybody on Youtube with Status basses seem to be either covering Level 42 songs or playing similar things. Is it just a coincidence or is it simply not possible pick up a Status without playing slap?
10. I usually end up playing some sort of RATM riff (ie Bombtrack) and then that little riff in Birdland 1:47 in
11.
I'd do a deal for your spector ;-)
If I still had the amber one I would, but the green one isn't going anywhere right now
12. Is it just a standard glossy white finish? It looks slightly metallic from the pictures, but I imagine that must be the lighting. Don't want to sound like a tyrekicker, but as soon as I can move some guitar gear I'd be very interested in this although I fear it'll be gone by then
13.
Not particularly, thanks all the same Rob.
How about a RG7620 with Dimarzios?
14. It's a '97 model. Unchambered mahogany body and neck, same pickups as the Standard, plays and sounds amazing. I'm looking for £450 collected, it comes with a Gibson USA softcase (didn't get a hardcase with the guitar)

I passed!
I was going to say you're Joking, but you're not....................you're Joe Kang
Ahh... the Joe King puns never get old...... Thanks for the kind comments guys, I really appreciate it. Pentode: I'm sure you'll be up to it as long as you get the scales down I reckon you'll be fine. It seems everything is based on you knowing the scale and arpeggio shapes (Improv, Musicianship questions etc.)

I passed!

Nah, I'm in Sheffield. I did the RGT exam which I think is endorsed by LCM and Thames valley University
17. I got 92 out of 100, with full marks for the Performance, Improv and Bass patterns and then lost a few marks for scales, aural and musicianship (got a question on transposition I totally blanked out on) I was expecting just to scrape a pass so I thought my teacher was messing with me when he called me up today! We all know what this means guys, no matter how much I suck in the future I will always have this piece of paper telling me at some point in my life I could sort of play bass
18. At Download this year Rex Brown was running 8 SVTs into four 8x10 cabs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHX6yl38PKs Only one was mic'd up though. Last time I saw Lamb of God each guitarist had three Framus triple stacks but only two of the cabs were actually loaded with speakers and hooked up to heads.
19. Would you be interested in an Ibanez RG570EX at all?
20. What's second from the left?
21. Would you say it's about the same quality as a Mighty Mite neck?
22.
Ahhh hulloo ;o) Kris, is there a song / album you are refering to in particular? James used various gear for recording - including his two McIntyre basses with EMG DC pickups - He has sold one already. (http://www.mcintyreguitars.com) a 5 string Sei bass that I believe had Bartolini pups in. He has used various amp rigs. Including David Eden heads and cabs, but also an Ampeg SVT 4 Pro.. may have had a 5 for a bit too?? but I understand the 4 was somewhat problematic. Live I know that James plugged in to a BDDI and also had a Carl Martin compressor pedal. He ended up with two Peavey 4x10 cabs, that, the last time I spoke to him (and this was about 2 months about SikTh split) he was really talking the cabs up. Incidently, he originally had Bartolini 9J pups in his Chris McIntyre bass(es) - Pin tells me they sounded really good recorded, but the DC's were a lot better for live sound. - I actually agree, as I tend to pull back the EQ in certain frequencies when I record DC's to make them sound a bit sweeter. As far as I can recall, I don't think he had a preference for strings. Hopefully what I recall is acurate, but if there's something in particular you want to know, I can find out for you. - I'm not a James Leach idoliser by the way, Pin and I are in an awesome band together!
Thanks for the info. I'm a big SikTH fan myself. Also, I had no idea you were: a. In a metal band b. In a metal band with Pin?!
23. Well I've done the exam. It went OK I guess. The bad: I F***ed up the scales as I managed to get given the 3 scales which I didn't know very well. Dominant 7 in root and 3 inversions, a Dominant 7b5b9 arpeggio (oh the irony!) and a natural minor in 8ths. The musicianship questions bad. I got asked what the b9 was in Bb and since I didn't know it off the top of my head I panicked. The transposition question was also an unmitigated f***up as I had no idea what key the progression was in to start off with, again I panicked and didn't give myself time to think of an answer (by which time I guess the answer is "worked out" and not "known" so I'd lose marks anyway) The good: The improv wasn't bad. I was really worried about this section but I think I did surprisingly alright. My teachers advice to coming up with standard patterns for weird chords paid off although I think I missed the 13th a couple of times. Ah well. The feel of the progression was easy to get into and it was in 4/4. I killed the "read the performance directions" section. I tried my best to exaggerate all the dynamics and tempo markings to make it blindingly obvious I was following them. Although I fear this bit doesn't carry many marks. The specialism was pretty good I thought. The examiner seemed interested when I told him what I was playing (Glide - Pleasure) and I pulled it off OK. There was a minor screwup but I still managed to showcase all the skills (Did some slap sections, some fingerstyle, some chords, messed with dynamics and even did some improvised tapping for the intro) The OK: Aural went surprisingly well. OK I probably only got 3 marks for it but that's 3 more than I'd expected to get! Bass patterns were pretty good too. I only had to do one of them. I modified the riffs each time around as required to get more marks. However I think I might have played it 5 times as opposed to 4 times.....oops! All in all I think the merit is out of reach but I hope I've passed.
24. Bump! I'd be interested in any non-ibanez electric guitars too.
25. Those inlays are amazing, if only Euros had Abalone as well. Love the quilt on the wings too.
