1. Great finds! I can only think of the obvious ones, but here are a few grooves I really like: Give up the Funk Street Life Pick up the Pieces (both a guitar and bass groove really) And obviously Chameleon, which I'm sure you've all heard.
2. Bogner Fish, Three MP1s, JMP1, Triaxis and a Recto. You must have every almost conceivable guitar tone there
3. That sucks. I hope it works out for you. Seymour Duncan's support is supposed to be good from what I've heard.
4. I remember seeing one of the newer LXs go for about £900 on Ebay a few weeks ago. Although it was sold as new from a retailer's Ebay shop though.
5.
However I entirely fail to understand why the fact it's been played/owned by someone whose name might have appeared on someone else's album credits makes it "special". Did he coat it in magic pixie dust which will rub off on the next [s]mug[/s] owner?
My thoughts exactly. If it's really better than other basses which haven't been owned by famous people, then why is Stuart Zender selling it?
6. I've been trying to adjust mine like that for a while now but the bridge on my Spector must hate me or something, because it's horrible to adjust. Once it's locked it stays put and works perfectly but I don't like the fact that all the saddles can move when you are adjusting one of them..... by the way, did you do it to the angle at which the headstock is angled back from the neck or the angle of the strings over the nut?
7. My eyes might be playing tricks on me (I haven't had any proper sleep over the past 48 hours) but are those two completely identical basses you have there? Nice basses you have there. I especially like the contoured faux binding around the edges
8. Cool project, and with a cool story too! Can't wait to see it finished.
9. Either is fine really, as long as the old solder is clean (otherwise you might get a dodgy join). Pots can take a lot of heat before the solder on them melts, so just be aware of that.
10.
Can you recall what model it was? They're great recording instruments but I think a TRB would maybe have been a more versatile first bass - Leland Sklar played them for a long time until he switched to MTD's. Still, the cost of an early 80's Alembic Spoiler might only be the sale of 1-2 of your current basses away. EDIT: The Spector is still available as trade bait if that's of interest to anyone with the right 5?
Wouldn't happen to be interested in my Euro 5 would you?
11. I'm planning on putting this up for sale, as I've found another Spector that I want, but I need the money to buy it.
12.
MB1. Sure there was somebody on here looking for a sax in items wanted!
That would be me, ideally looking for a tenor though. What sort of alto is it? got a price in mind?
13. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-Jazz-E-Bass-...%3A1|240%3A1318 Not mine, but I wonder how bad it could be for £100.
14. I'm not fully sure if I want to get rid of this yet, but I figured I'd see whats available. The main problem I have with it that I don't really like the finish, I love the sound and the feel of it. What I'm looking for: - A Spector Euro 5 in a different colour. Dark red is good as is green (Ala Arif from Protest the Hero), something from the EX series, or just in natural oil. - Warwick Thumb (NT) - Warwick Streamer of some sort - Any other 5/6 string you guys might have, I play metal, so I want something that cuts through heavy guitars really well. If you're working for Ebay and reading this, I AM NOT SELLING MY ITEM HERE SO DON'T REMOVE MY LISTING AGAIN.
15.
Depends for how much, and what condition they're in!
+1 I might be interested too.
16.
On the neck dive issue, do Firebirds suffer from the same affliction? Before anyone says anything I know the length of a bass neck alters the centre of gravity and there's more weight in the neck etc. P
It depends how you play your bass and how big you are. If you play them higher up (ala John Entwhistle) or you're big/tall you don't get as much neck dive with either. I don't seem to get much neck dive with any of the thunderbirds/firebirds/explorers I've played.
17. I'm a big fan of Reaper. Mainly because it uses less resources than CUbase, so I can get more tracks with amp sim VSTs on. The only thing I don't like about is is the lack of audio editing "event windows" Like in Cubase where you double click on a part and it comes up in a separate window so you can edit it. In Reaper you have to just zoom in and turn the snap off to edit the parts directly.
18. Ah well. At least you don't get confused by 2+2 or 3+2 headstocks like I sometimes am
19. I've been wanting to do the course for a while now, it's also incredibly convenient for me (since his workshop is literally about 15 mins away from my house) But I'm failing to get the money together. Keep ending up buying instruments instead
20.
Have a free bump for a beautiful bass! I've got one identical to this & love it... I believe you may be being slightly optimistic price-wise in the current climate, but it's worth every penny.... good luck!
Is the resale on these really that bad? Thomann is selling them at almost double that. Then again, the pound is pretty weak right now.
21. May I ask how much it cost? I'm considering changing out the pre in my Euro too.

MESA porn

I bet that T-bird sounds HUGE through it!
23. I've got one of those desks too, I just use mine as a computer desk though.
24. I have a pair of these, have no idea if they work. Somebody on a different forum pointed out that a few of the capacitors looked leaky. No idea if it's in working condition, but I don't feel like it's a good idea to power it up and see without having a tech look over it. What do you guys think?
