Up for sale is an Ikea 'Jerker' (seriously, who comes up with these names?!) desk. I've seen this desk often recommended in the pages of Future Music etc. as a good cheap alternative to specialist studio furniture and if you Google it you'll see many owners singing its praises on music forums and lamenting that it's no longer available (replaced by the flimsier [url="http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/60111123"]'Fredrik'[/url]). As my studio consists of pretty much just a MacBook these days the desk has become a bit too big for my needs and leaves too much space for coffee mugs and the like... I'm after £25 but it would need to be collected from west London, it flat packs though so it's easy enough to transport. Weird War Posted February 2, 2009 Share Posted February 2, 2009 I have one of these at home: it's very sturdy (and my wife has "modded" it by painting the metal parts purple!). Not sure if Stickman has the 1 or 2 square shelves that attached to either side - these are ideal for mounting LCD/CRT monitors on - but they're probably easy to pick up on eBay if not. Bassassin Posted February 2, 2009 Share Posted February 2, 2009 Have a gratis bump - I can definitely recommend these, I've got a Jerker in my basement (on band practice nights there are five! ) for my increasingly superannuated recording stuff: [attachment=19619:studios.jpg] I did get the extension shelves for my monitors & outboards, but it's a big, wide desk & there's plenty of space without them. When you consider the price of "pro" studio furniture, £25 is a ridiculous bargain! I've had one of these for years, but 2 weeks back, due to a room rearrangement, took an angle grinder to the frame and made it less deep, probably reduced depth by around 200mm which made a big difference, also took the upright bits down so level with the shelf, which sits just above my Digi 002, now looks less imposing in a room and accomodates my pro tools set up in a very sexy way Someone should buy it!
