1.
Thats stupidly cheap. Maybe their stock is brought in from the US Parent, which does mean Shure UK won't look after you, should it go wrong. Then again SM58's shouldn't go wrong. It could be a fake, but Shure would be all over it, there have been loads around recently, and they're quick to put a stop to it. You should post detailed pics when you get it, and i'll tell you. I've been selling these for 8 years, so i'll spot any oddness the packaging etc, if it would help.
Cheers, I'll do that. I think the theory of the USA parent supplying the mikes sounds most likely; if that is the case, I hope Customs charges won't be too high. I'll try and post photos once it arrives. If it should fail (unlikely as it may be) is it possible to replace parts oneself? That is to say, is it at all modular? Thanks, Spinner
2. Hi all, I've just bought a Shure SM58 from them for £70 - seems like a good price. Possibly suspiciously low. Has anyone else bought anything from them and has it proven OK? I was stung once by an dodgy eBay seller (although I got my own back) so I tend to be a little wary these days. Anyway, anyone else have any opinions/experiences to share on them or their USA partner/parent, MusicWonderland.com? Cheers, Spinner
3. Thanks for all your replies! I'll discuss with my friend and he'll come to a decision, I expect. So far the main suggestions have beene: Peavey 210TX Ampeg B100-R Fender Rumble 100 The only thing is I haven't seen an Ampeg B100-R on eBay for a while now, but I'll keep looking. Any other additions? Any order of preference to them? Thanks for all the PMs as well - I'll have to discuss offers with my friend. @BurritoBass: Thanks for the reassurance, I thought a Mexican was probably fine for him but I know that American Fenders tend to have a better reputation for whatever reason. We're not particularly loud, we play 60s and 70s blues/rock.
4. Thanks for the replies, guys. Sorry, I should have made it clear that he requires a cab as well from the same budget, so I was thinking a combo is most likely. At the moment it'll be for practice, but should lead to small gigs in time.
5. Hi there, Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, or if this gets asked frequently! I'm actually asking this on behalf of a friend who's, all being well, going to become a bassist. I helped him pick out and win a used Fender P-Bass (Mexican, I'm afraid) from eBay; he now needs an amplifier to go with it. He'd like to spend about £200. I'm guessing a tube amp will be right out of his range, but in the current market, what could he realistically expect to get for his money? Used is acceptable. I was thinking an Ampeg B-100R but as a piano/Hammond player, I'm out of my area of expertise (not that that's particularly large anyway!). Could some of you give me some suggestions? Thanks, Spinner
