1. I am in Petes camp , but know-where near as accomplished , I have bought an acoustic that is great for practice , loud enough to hear , easy to pick up , no leads , no switching on , just play , much like my DB , except the lack of frets on my DB still disturbs me , I think the acoustic being shortish scale makes it easier for my inky dinky little hands , but DB is just special, if a little ..er ......big
2.
well i started to give it a go and it terminally destroyed my computer, so until i rebuild it you wont get nothing off me
Thats a shame dude , I hope you get something sorted . I have got something together for this month , I was hoping for a little added family input but they all refused to attempt a noo yoke accent . so it is what it is , https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/jungle
3.
ER! https://soundcloud.c...urn-to-the-left See if y'all can spot the lyrical influences...
I proper enjoyed that , I would bring the vocal higher in the mix , it is worth it just so you can pick the lyric out Armani ,salami marney Oh yes ....Jimmy choo shoe , canoo sweet
4. Buy , Sell or Trade with confidence with Mick Very easy to deal with , very good communication and is very keen to please . Nice bloke too . Thanks again Mick
5.
You could try option 4 - Rap
I actually tried that on a work in progress for this month aswell , it might even be s touch worse than the singing . I was about to have some singing lessons but I had to buy an acoustic bass with the money , so I will save up some more Every time you hear my voice on a recording it is auto tuned to hell , even the 3 choo choos on last months were auto tuned
6. The BC composition helps me get going TBH. I too find it difficult to write about the real stuff , but I can often describe a picture a lot easier as the story is there, it just needs picking out I find that I can be very literal in the way I do it , but I think that makes it easier if I ask someone to sing it , it is less of a head scratcher and they can identify with it easier If I could sing I would probably go a bit more left field lyrically
7.
Well, I don't see the newbie complaining here about it...
That is a shame , an 8 page introduction thread , and he doesn't show up
8. I have thought of collaboration on a few occasions , and indeed have had our bands singist (and Lurksalitle) do a few for me , and while thats great , I don't think my end results really do it justice , partly because I dont feel in a position to demand a performance of the exact melody , timing and timbre that I hear in my head it should be , so a couple of takes is really all I could ask for and I can't make it hard work for anyone. Likewise , my skills on the cloud of sound , whilst great (for me), probably wouldn't really inspire a virtual collaborator to lay their skills at feet Now the likes of our venerable, multi-award winning , uber talented and all round good eggs of this parish have people knocking their door down for project collaboration , but for me , I don't think I am quite ready for that yet.............................................................. maybe next week BUT , I am sure that with lottery funding , collaborators 'expenses' would help them lower their expectations of the outcome a touch . Ed to include the daughter
9. If I won the lottery I would by a voice I could record that sounded half decent , I have one ready to go that just needs a little 'something' and another which could be better but needs a voice , I think it if I had a decent voice it would help , but I also lack the skill of making the sounds sit in the piece like they should .
10.
[cheeky] I see you're in Staffs - my studio is in Talke, happy to do BC rates [/cheeky]
OK , I need to know something , probably very simple for you , seeing as you have a studio and all ..... How do you pronounce Talke ? Is it Tork or Torkee Talc Talc er Talc ee I see it signposted off the A50 quite often, but never know how it is supposed to sound in my head
11. Even if your FIRST recordings sound arse . , I think I am just past 30 now and 'arse' describes them well Good on you Bob , ask plenty of questions as you go , and the answers might teach me something
12.
All white then, is this some kind of yolk?
Yes , New Yolk, New Yolk
13. it sounds like a global setting type issue if they are all doing it , I don't know cubase either , I don't even know Reaper really It might not be relevant but I always leave a bar or two at the start so I get the chance to hit record and then get my fingers in the right place to make the first noise
14. Mine has taken a left field approach but awaits a few more samples , mainly vocals , but Lurksalittle is being a touch backward in coming forward on this one
15. Denim was so last years quo jeans yes, but very plain T, or plain shirt over the top if anything and that's it , he is , though we all wear jeans , mostly.
16.
There must be a few of us Cestrians who make the trip over too. Colour me interested.
Can you give me a lift , Ive only got a small rig, honest
17.
My lightly worn undergarments can be obtained for the Yen equivalent of £5 from a number of vending machines in Tokyo.
Or from Father Bradley on Ebay
18.
Thanks a million Discreet and Grangur. Knowing what I'm talking about might be a bit of an over statement Grangur, more I like to think I know what I'm talking about lol! I'm a good bluffer
you will always find someone who knows better , but that's all part of the craic on here welcome , Oh and I know nothing .......................... though I am not from Barcelona
19. Jonesthebass nailed it earlier , and bar that , it is too late to worry about anything else , the preparation should all have been done by now as it is the playing that will count. Making the sounds should be second nature , everything else is being looked after. play as the songs demand , smile or be angry, whichever , but acting the song out and feeling it will come across in the recording for the better .
20.
We do all wear black shirts if it's a classy gig but this was just a more laid back local pub gig - I need to go get myself one of those sh*te shirts for casual occasions
not that you can see it much , but in my current avatar you see the shoulder of a particularily well named sh*teshirt . though for modesty and family parties I do rebadge the shirts ( I have 2 ) Rhythm and drums have suitable lairy shirts when needed , singist really can't get past subtle shirts , though he thinks they are loud , and lead guitar won't dress far from the status quo
21. I won't listen yet Dad, especially as it appears to be a similar route mine has taken I am sure it is quality as usual , after all, you took your time with this one
22. I thought singing was physically hard work , well it always looks that way after one of our gigs
23. DOH , I did mean to mention that , yes, I think it worked well , it helped me whittle down my choices easier , well , down from 11 to 10 , (but don't tell Mr Smalls)
24. Well , it got warm enough in the garage , but then it got cold again and as I have things to sort in there, these have to go , the cabs will get broken up I am fairly sure , but the drivers are available. Don't forget they are low mileage 12 inch Precision Devices drivers ( info here http://www.thomann.d...es_pd12sb30.htm ) ,so I guess offers are invited , I am sure that I would find a use for them , but if they are not sold in a year and a halfs time , I might put them on ebay , so dive in quick while you have the chance. Ed to add The cabs have now been loaded into the back of my van destined for the skip, so I am closing this ad as amps and cabs is probably the wrong place for it now . for those eager to see what is left you can find it later in the other musical bits and bobs forum
25.
I've already got an improvised bass line down, as well as a drummer falling down the stairs. Now I'm off to record some chickens.
I saw the picture and thought straight away it would be right up your street, I have a couple of ideas , but the genre to do it in escapes me , However , as per usual I may start off with an intent to do a rock number and it wanders of into a gregorian chant instead
