1. In fairness, I think you can offer as many up as you think we can listen to , but I would suggest identifying 1 piece as your entry to the actual challenge. I know Dad is a bit under the weather at the moment , but if we allowed multiple entries, he would be uploading one every 24hrs , he can be a touch productive when on form .
2. I popped into the Port Crack Converters this afternoon to see what they had, and spied me a Banjo , however they wanted more for a second hand one than a new one of the same model , and would not talk of offers , so virtual banjo it is , I also had a harp in mind Leonard , and a proper jangley saloon bar piano . That said , it might not come out like that at all , last month was the first time that the finished article sounded something like the idea I had in my head at the start of the process, I was well chuffed with that , but at the minute I think I am just going to keep making a selection of noises till I like the sound of one , then run with it , add too much to it , and add enough finishing touches to hide the lack of quality in both the performance and production
3. I hope it goes well young Skankster , I guess you upstarts need to grab every chance you can In all fairness , we occasionally do the Chester Charity beer festival , not paid , but free ale all night , proper sound rig and engineer, lights and a crowd of 600 make it a great occasion , I am purely participating in the beverage consumption this year as I missed the invitation ' tweet' , modern communication eh .
4.
http://www.joinmyban...ts-t746888.html Just like this !!
FFS a brewery in Holt , Wiltshire , you have NO chance of getting spotted there , I mean Holt , who goes there ?
5. So not quite Delaneys Donkey then
6. I have done my background research , it was very interesting , I am learning a bit every month, Napoleonic wars last month, Tombstone Az and silver mining this month its all very celebral, now, time to reach for the banjo
7. Well done indeed , superb piece , well done to everyone else as well.
8. Well done to all involved in the project , it sounds awesome
9.
When you guys order a pint you don't tip the bartender? Blue
Occasionally if they do something that is above and beyond , but generally no.
10. Our singist doesn't really warm up at all , he has a superb singing voice and has had coaching which brought it on loads , but 2 gigs in a weekend seems him knackered , granted, we do too many songs , but he could take a lot more care of his voice, 5 minutes of lips trems and few lah lah lah's doesn't really count . We do try and plan the set a bit with a few of the less demanding vocals in the first few numbers though , tuneful, but not balls out stuff.
11.
For me it's not so much the voice but the crap lyrics that I can't stand. For a long time I listened almost exclusively to J-Pop/J-Rock, where the lyrics were probably just as awful as those I'd been trying to get away from, but being in a language I mostly didn't understand, I was able to appreciate the singing as just another instrument without the distraction of cringing at the embarrassing words.
I too can find lyrics annoying and sometimes cringeworthy , but that is just as subjective as a dislike of a vocalists tone and often boils down to the genre
12. Many thanks, on both counts, hopefully we'll have you back on board for next month
13. Wow , lowdown's track is just awesome , a beautiful piece that works brilliantly with the theme, I think you can get a picture ready for next months challenge Garry I will hang on to my photo for now
14. Hope you get sorted Douglas, I shall miss the reviews , but getting yourself to good health would have a slightly higher priority I suppose
15. Our last gig rhythm guitar asked if we we too loud, too quiet , too talented with a few giggles but not much else , so he picked on a guy who was nodding his head and made him the 'sound' guy . Anyway as it was a lunch time gig with lots of young kids, the client asked us to turn down a bit , so the 'sound' guy got the blame for the rest of the afternoon , It was funny and helped make the show.
16. In answer to the OP , and not intended to be smart in any way , but you don't have to put up with it at all . Just avoid the warehouse/stadium type gigs , you have a much better chance of hearing clarity in the proper theatre size gigs . If it is the music you want to hear then the stadiums seem poor all the time , but if the overall experience is a must, then I guess it is a compromise.
17. Welcome to the forum Fingers I am not familiar with the Boss micro BR , but in general the trick is to work out if the 'track' actually exists as the individual parts or whether it adds the parts together and combines them. If it just exists as one 'track' then I fear you are stymied on that one , though someone more knowledgeable will probably be along shortly with some more accurate analysis.
18. fair play dude , that sounds like a result The lunchtime party was a great afternoon , we were asked to keep the volume well down so could hardly hear myself over the drums , but everyone enjoyed it, the kids were ace , and we gave out loads of cards , so a few parties might come off it , though we were offered 1 and had to decline as the date is already committed , so I suggested that rather than do a shared 50th party with his wife , do a shared 51st party next year and book early , I think we might get some joy from that source he still likes the idea of a party we let the youngsters on 'stage' and play tambourines and dance along and at the end 2 four year olds dueted 'Let it go' from frozen when we were breaking down. we let them do it because we said we might try it , and er forgot , they sang it all the way through with no backing and it was sooooo cute , it brought the house down with the best cheer of the day . client was chuffed and handed more cards out for us
19. WE played a fairly new venue for us , a pub in Mold , not exactly heaving but very enthusiastic, our sound seemed to be really crisp , and everything had its place , lead guitar had some new toys and used them quite sparingly , so when he needed them they worked brilliantly . booked 2 more dates for later in the year , so another result Off to do a lunchtime party/ pub gig later , I am not sure how this will go , loads of kids I am sure , but as long as they get rocking on the dance floor , we will party
20. Welcome to the forum , get yourself stuck in we are a reasonably friendly bunch
21.
Very good. It scared me a little bit. Well done.
many thanks
22.
I used a 2i2 for a while they are great bits of kit. I'm glad you found something that works. It makes all the difference, having the right gear.
Cheers , but it is spot on though , I have a habit of make do and mend , and sometimes it just gets in the way , don't get me wrong I will often find a way of doing something in an unorthadox way , but if you haven't used kit that just works, then I found I was just kidding myself and going backwards at the same time ! Back to the matter in hand , I have a folk song for you , the lyrics are printed with the description as my Russian is a touch rusty , it probably needed a Peter Ustinov VST to do them justice , but nevertheless I give you https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/from-russia I hope you enjoy
23. It frustrated the hell out of me , but being a bit daft I persevered with it , worst mistake ( or at least one of them) I made . I then bought the little 2i2 and my recording life has been transformed , it just works , it still amazes me how simple the process has become , the composing and playing now take the time knowing that I can record it relatively straight-forwardly.
24.
Mine is going exceptionally well.... in my head. I just need to find a way of switching off the *epic music removal filter* located somewhere between my brain and hands now... have checked and it's definitely not an effects pedal. James

This.
Now I don't have that problem , I produce absolute masterpieces, time after time , full of epic music, effects and atmosphere. Of course , when my masterpieces hit your 'epic music removal filter ' they probably sound like heaps of crap , but then , its your filter , mine is just fine
