We do all wear black shirts if it's a classy gig but this was just a more laid back local pub gig - I need to go get myself one of those sh*te shirts for casual occasions
not that you can see it much , but in my current avatar you see the shoulder of a particularily well named sh*teshirt . though for modesty and family parties I do rebadge the shirts ( I have 2 ) Rhythm and drums have suitable lairy shirts when needed , singist really can't get past subtle shirts , though he thinks they are loud , and lead guitar won't dress far from the status quo

I won't listen yet Dad, especially as it appears to be a similar route mine has taken I am sure it is quality as usual , after all, you took your time with this one

Why, Why, Why can't I find a drummer!?
lurksalot replied to Lord Sausage's topic in General Discussion
I thought singing was physically hard work , well it always looks that way after one of our gigs -
DOH , I did mean to mention that , yes, I think it worked well , it helped me whittle down my choices easier , well , down from 11 to 10 , (but don't tell Mr Smalls)

PD 12 SB30 8R drivers in MTH30 cabs
lurksalot replied to lurksalot's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Well , it got warm enough in the garage , but then it got cold again and as I have things to sort in there, these have to go , the cabs will get broken up I am fairly sure , but the drivers are available. Don't forget they are low mileage 12 inch Precision Devices drivers ( info here http://www.thomann.d...es_pd12sb30.htm ) ,so I guess offers are invited , I am sure that I would find a use for them , but if they are not sold in a year and a halfs time , I might put them on ebay , so dive in quick while you have the chance. Ed to add The cabs have now been loaded into the back of my van destined for the skip, so I am closing this ad as amps and cabs is probably the wrong place for it now . for those eager to see what is left you can find it later in the other musical bits and bobs forum -
I've already got an improvised bass line down, as well as a drummer falling down the stairs. Now I'm off to record some chickens.
I saw the picture and thought straight away it would be right up your street, I have a couple of ideas , but the genre to do it in escapes me , However , as per usual I may start off with an intent to do a rock number and it wanders of into a gregorian chant instead

Great gig tonight, to a full pub, an old haunt of mine from years ago in the middle of town , we played a 50 minute first set with a bit of improv as we had them dancing from the second song so we adjusted to jam a couple of daft ones , it worked well . the first set was over by 10.20 and the LL suggested going back on at 11ish but we don't like the hanging around , if we are there we may as well play, so we were back on it at 10.40 and nailed it till midnight with everyone bouncing nearly all the way through. blooded 2 new ones , Boys are back in town and Dont stop beleiving , they both worked a treat even if they could do with a couple more run throughs . Sound wise we still have a bit of a loudness war with lead guitar , and while it was far too loud on stage , reports from the rear of the pub was it was a great sound overall , so hey , maybe he is right , but I still think it is too loud

Yes congratulations Bleat , you got one of my votes aswell , the bar has definitely been raised again , well done to everyone who entered and a big thanks to those who took the time to listen, vote and contribute in the thread. I know February is technically a short month , but getting an entry done early for the challenge really makes the month seem a long one
I have heard of this very rare condition but a little further research reveals that it is easily rectified. For Gods sake man, pull yourself together and don't let any of our wives/girlfriends/partners know that this condition exists. Quality response to a great idea
I think so. Aren't we supposed to see a correlation between the composition and the image?
I guess that is up to you , but I always look for one , especially as the image is the inspiration for the piece , but then interpretation of that is totally subjective.

Why, Why, Why can't I find a drummer!?
lurksalot replied to Lord Sausage's topic in General Discussion
I am really lucky , I get on well with our drummer and we seem to work well together . Rhythm guitar went to help out a mate of his who has a band that has been together for a year, they just wanted a few polishing tips, he took his axe with him and jammed a few songs. At rehearsal the other night he made a comment about how chuffed he is that we are such a tight outfit . Me and the drummist smiled and nodded at each other -
well done indeed my friend , a great achievement

Play of the Day : ‘Loaded’, from lurksalot...
lurksalot replied to Dad3353's topic in General Discussion
Many thanks Dad -
I'm even having trouble cutting down to 3 choices

I could mosey along if the dates work out
-
brillliant that so many are coming in, well done all , I will catch up on my listening tommorrow, I hope Dad has started writing up the Plays of the day , or it will take till the middle of March to catch up

I don't think there is , but we could ask that a voter cast 3 or 4 votes ( depending on quantity of entrants I suppose) to see if that slimlines the chances of having an 8 way tie
You'll probably not be surprised that my beautiful composition wasn't so much composed as completely improvised... But I won't do it again, honest!
I must admit , I have to record a fair bit of my noodling as I search for a tune / riff or melody for instance as I go along . The trouble with me is that I might think 'ooh that sounds alright' but if I stop playing and turn round to start recording the thing I will have already forgotten it

What Recording software are you using ? I dont know much about the Ableton stuff if you are going down that path . but I guess it is a task of telling the software to use the 2i2 as the input to the track to record from.

I think the pay for a gig has come down a fair bit which often means that duo's, backing tapes , and acoustic sets are more common as it is less faff to a full 4/5 piece band set-up and a better pay day as there are less to share it with .
