Me , I LOVE it here , the knowledge ,the openness , the willing to share and give freely , the p1sstaking , the retaliation , the characters , the musicality, the lessons , the caring ,the help , the PMs , the telling offs , the ocassional vote ,the diversity and yet all with the a shared interest of the low end , did I say......... I LOVE it here .
I havent had a chance to download it, but I got the PM, and another one, which I also havent had a chance to downbload, I'll let you know when I have so you can get your cloudy space back for whatever else you might want it for...
It could be mine , if you want to check the volume feel free , I did a radical EQ session and it seemed to enable a noticable hike in volume without busting the Kmeter

Cheers Paul , do you need special compressors for that trick , or should the std Reaper ones have that sort of functionality. I like the track too
I did, and I would like to thank Mr Skol303 for pointing the way to this marvelous competition. Thank you Mr Skol303 for pointing the way to this marvelous competition . -
I am sure it will get there at some point but it is a bit stuck in Stoke ATM , dive in dudes , Chris is trying to move it on .
-
urgh , sidechain gates and compressors , I have entered a mix but will have do some further reading , I have only just got the fundamentals of EQ in my head , so thats pretty much what I have done

Hmmmm , I have already voted , so I guess that is me in the clear
Yeah, it is a meter, it does nothing but show you how loud the track is (in a very average level way), set it to not go over 0 and you're done, render that. Simples!
I dont really get the meter thing , sorry , I can level the volume to 0db on the meter and render it to wav , if I insert this wav to into a new project and K-meter it , it is at -16db , It sounds quiet to me , but I am unsure how to get to a definitive level now !!

Wow , a great entry this month, I will need a couple more listens to a few of them ,
-
Sounds excellent, hope it goes great
-
It might seem odd , but I am not sure I can do much to what is already there , OK I get what Skol said about the number of dulpicate tracks , but there also seems to be a full LR mix on stems aswell Now I have done a few bits and will do a few more , but I am leaning toward a 'less is more' vibe with this one . Will I be cast into satans pit if I said that I quite liked the track

Fair play Bob , that is a big sound , lots of presence in there , and mainly plugins? this is stuff I havent got a handle on yet ,but think I should at some point . the topic is fine bud , it teased 8 entries , even with lighter evenings and work getting busier In all seriousness though , will the entries suffer when mundane sh*t like the garden, and outside chores, and making hay etc while the sun is shining , and golf (WTF) but hey , and riding a bike , and summer in general tempts the musos out side ? PS .......wear sunscreen
It's got a sort of 'country' feel to it… yeah, sorry for using the C-word there … which is probably a hangover from the choice of track in this month's mixing challenge (I blame you 51m0n!).
Its another great entry there my man , I have just had a funny moment though , my daughter loves getting involved when she can , she is 12 , but she was sad when she saw your post , she said she can't listen to your song because you used the C-word !!! I only just realised it was C for Country
-
Cheers Skol , It was a bit of fun , but I wont let on what the accent was supposed to be , suffice to say an accent was all that was needed I was quite pleased the way it all sat in the mix , and I was surprised how well I could disguise the tone of my own voice for the 2 characters , I will listen to the others now , and then get stuck into the mix comp
Yay! POTATO BREAD!!!
I got a potato clock once , I was gutted , I was late for work , I should have been up at seven
Hey man - just do what you can - this month is looking eerily quiet as it stands - I know it's a lot of effort to do something good but it's really just a bit of fun - would be nice to see others getting involved or failing that giving feedback on some of the tunes posted - it's about getting creative and making mistakes and learning something (I think) - imagination is just as important as technical skill - and hey if you can combine the two - job done! Anyway hope some other folks are doing something too Mike
Cheers Mike , I will have an entry in Defo , I have sussed the accent I need and a trick to get it some where near , but I have to re-record the vocal in the wardrobe , its the only place in the house without a noticeable reverb , It might not be quality , but it might raise a smile or two

yep get stuck in everyone , its a great cause and something bass wise to get involved in ed to add .. I am not sure there is a 'right ' gig for this thing , I think it is a momentum thing , and the sooner it gets a next gig the better , the money may trickle in, but if it gigs it creates and carries its own history , this will give it more heritage and a greater pulling power for the pennies , just keep it moving , don't let the grass grow

I think that some of these fantastic players can be very inspirational BUT, I prefer threads like this, because it offers far more encouragement in a 'real life' kind of way. I only recently started trying some home recording , and boy was I taken aback and intitially was very dissappointed at the work I had to put in to get a track sounding half decent , but in the band I seem to cut it OK . Very similar to the OP , and I have to say, just realising that I was normal in this regard was quite encouraging
-
I have some ideas laid down , but again, I need a vocal , this month could be awkward as I have gone toward a distinctive rhythmic style which may need some accent for the voices.
Yey, I can officially post to this thread (well technically I should wait until past midnight but I'm sure you'll forgive me in my excitement) ................... I was shaking like a leaf!! I can't believe how nervous I was. The first song started, and because they provide the back line I couldn't hear myself, so I had to step forward infront of the PA speaker to hear my bass!! I'm a happy bassist tonight!!
Quality post , exactly what its all about , NEVER forget those shakes , it is what makes you feel alive, you are out of your comfort zone, learning and gaining so much confidence. The Razors gig was an odd one last night , it was a pub/restaraunt and we couldn't start setting up until 9 so everything felt a bit rushed , not the songs , but we lost a bit of the feel by trying to cram our setlist in. the crowd loved what we did , they were dancing on the tables and chairs and we got repeat booking but we were loose for us. We were well cramped in mind , and it gets a bit loud on stage when you are squeezed, and any idea of moving around is an avoidance of clouting either the hi-hat , or a guitarist but we got paid and saw some great moves on the dance[s] floor [/s]tables . In all, worth playing, with a promise of bigger money next time and knowing what to expect it will pan out better.
