I know I am miles to late for this, but for a laugh and just to show how good the others are you can have a listen to this , it might put you off though.

I recorded my first sounds yesterday , the sound of a penny dropping , stick at it , I have no finesse but I stuck something together

are there any super bands with poor bass players?
lurksalot replied to iconic's topic in General Discussion
I am sure some have off days , but listen to the bassline on Maggie may , some say it is full of ghost notes and muted tones , to me it sounds as if it was played after a bottle of scotch -
Egg Timer ? My head hurts now , The more I mess with this recording stuff, the less I seem to understand . 6 hrs today , and f*** all to show for it , mostly fannying with midi drums and not even getting as far as a simple drum pattern of any worth . One day something might click ......but that could be just the metronome , and even that seems odd at the moment

Roll up , Roll up . As above this is a great TV and will come with a digi box or will take a signal from sat box, dvd or video etc. We have inherited the MIL's plasma DVB jobby so the Sony is surplus to requirements. It IS a heavy beast and will need 2 to carry ( I can help this end) . First to shout 'AYE' secures this beauty . I am based in Chester and it will need to be collected . I would like a commitmentment by 7th January , I might be able to hold it for a little after that , but if no-one comes forward it will be junked . Many thanks , pass it on if you wish .
Saw them do this on Graham Norton and was was well impressed. Great moves to boot. Pop is interesting again.
so did I , it took me by surprise a bit, but I really enjoyed the performance , I am still not completely sold on the song, but loved the way they did it
I've always used these guys http://shop.rothkoandfrost.co.uk/guitar-headstock-waterslide-decals-s/204.htm excellent quality. I have used ebay ones but they are nowhere near as good a quality as these.
That home page of that link is firmly nailed to my favourites bar , cheers

I guess you need a bit of artwork or at least fonts, colour, spacings etc to give a printer who could do something for you , you won't get 'made in halifax' on anything nowadays for real will you Ed to add have a look here for some interesting bits

There are bits in audacity to tell it where to look for the sound , I struggled with it for ages as it defaulted to something obscure and coulkd never remember how to sort it . good luck , I have no idea if a gt10b is up to the job either , sorry . I would love to do some recording , but the process is really starting to bug me .

Anyone get any nice bass related items from Santa ?
lurksalot replied to gub's topic in General Discussion
The daughter bought me a new set of Rotosound Jazz bass Flats , they sound fantastic and it kind of embarasses to think of the last new set I bought The wife was banging on to all and sundry how she had paid for the new bass I have ordered, as she has settled the credit card bill ( shared user) that I used to order it with............ SOOOOOO funny when I told her that she had kindly funded the deposit , and asked when she would be paying the balance . -
Lighting up a band....ideas and advice please!
lurksalot replied to paulbass's topic in General Discussion
I use 2 ADJ DMX Par cans , LED very easy, low power , and run cool , again bounce of ceilings and walls to add more tones , with a funky lazer it works well , I would love a big light show ,but I reckon I haven't got the time to set the PA ,sort my own rig, massage the egos and run a full light show , especially when every room is as different for lighting as it is for sound . -
Zafiras are well up to the job , if I haven't got the works van
-
I have a Legend 4 and a Euro 4 on order , I have yet to hear anyone find any real fault with Spector stuff

Some nice deals at Guitarcenter if you're traveling to the US...

I looked at buying a new spector from Bass Central in Florida, But it worked out a fair bit cheaper for me to spec up and order new from Bass Direct, made in czech and it will have clocked up a heck of a lot less airmiles -
No worries, gents. Will do. We're now in the midst of Christmas party hell at the Grosvenor Pulford hotel, then onto NYE at Chester Racecourse,
I used to live in Pulford and spent far to much time in the Grosvenor , but have gigged down the road in the Nags Head a few times , like the others have said, throw up some dates ,I would love to come along for a Jam

I ahven't got as far as recording or mixing as yet , but one of my favourite albums for sound and mix was always ABC Lexicon of love , I thought it was about perfect , at least on the stuff I was listening through , that was Vinyl, I got the CD but it didn't seem quite as crisp .
-
I love this bass line though I don't do it justice , but it's great fun to bash along with, watching the Zuma vid there are a fair few bits I am not getting quite right , mainly the bit at the start , then of course the bit after the start , the bit in the middle , after that I am fine until the bit before the end , but to tell the truth I am not sure I get the end quite right either ............ I am not at all sure I am the same in most of the songs I play ........

great thread

The last gig we did we were asked to call out a request for a guy called Irwin , his crowd loved us but he wanted to move on , they reckoned he would stay (thus they could) if we 'involved ' him , so we duly played some queen for him , and yep they all stayed. Now, this guy came up and asked a request , and the warbler asked who he was , and he replied .. Son of Irwin We all fell apart and were totally sold that it would be a great band name , Is there a Band name thread? I searched and got this one, so posted my search skills may have let me down though

It is quite exciting being in at the start of the thinking process of these competitions , seeing how they develop , hearing the teasers and what comes from them. I REALLY hope to contribute at some point , but there are a couple of things I need to sort first , like ......... writing , playing and recording , but hey, I might miss Decembers comp but I have a couple of days leave at Christmas/ new year to get ready for January Best of luck all , I look forward to the listening to the entries

I understand that small and bespoke and customer service are a difficult combination to juggle at certain points in a businesses size , but its worth trying to keep all the balls in the air .
-
Hmmm , maybe there is more to this, maybe the drivers are much cleaner nowadays, I remember earlier days when gigs were full of an acrid ,pungent, thick sticky atmoshere of nicotene , for every thump that loosened the tone , there must have been a half decent layer of crud to stiffen it back up again , But I'll get my coat and comfy shoes.
