1. Well there's no folk in here , but you are welcome to tell me what you think it is https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/tweet I hope you enjoy
2. I have got close with mine now , but I have to say , mine is a totally contrived and calculated piece , with a certain randomness , but no improv at all , folk , Hmmmm, no , no Hmmm , no, club style it is then
3.
I know what I want to do but will need to find some other musicians to make it happen as I cannot play any of the instruments involved to the required level. Mmmmm?
That sounds very like my monthly dilemna
4.
Leftfield is good!
, Yup , far too much reverb in there
5. I have an idea for this now , it is a touch left field maybe , and could be a lot of work , but I can make a start
6. Well done Paul, back on top again !! I voted for Bilbos this time as it appeared to bring me on a journey through the story , and I think I liked it just a touch more than the others Seriously guys , great work all round , and I hope to back in the pack this month
7. Ah yes , but for those in the know , I have reproduced the lyrics of the title sequence , and being a US show it just uses different terminology ( and holiday doesn't rhyme with generation ) . You can still see a bit of the original colour where the truss adjustment is, I will paint that out in due course ,but it plays really well Alan, I will try it at rehearsal tonight to see if it fits with the band image
8.
Quite the opposite with me My guitarists are always looking to me to help them with chords and song arrangements. They nick named me the "Chordmaster" as I always seem to know what chords go where and ask me for advice.
A bit like this for me too , as it appears that I am the one who actually listens/studies/learns the new tunes proposed before rehearsals , but that is another kettle of fish entirely .
9. There's 104 days of summer vacation, then school comes along just to end it So the annual problem for our generation, Is finding a good way to spend it. Like maybe... Building a rocket , Or fighting a mummy Or climbing up the Eiffel Tower …........... Or even building a Bass-inator , Arent you a little young to be building a Bass-inator ? Yes, yes I am . Well that was unexpected, well, when I say unexpected I mean.........Curse you Perry the platypus , the end of another fine evil plan …. M-U-M..... Phineas and Ferb are building a Bass-inator. Ah well , just a bitsa fun , just waiting for the knobs and a bit of plastic to tidy up the around the pickups , but it works OK , I may redo the headstock as I have overdone the lacquer, and If I do another I might get a proper sprayer to do the finish for me , it is still not perfect , but it turned out reasonably well . 10. A tie as it currently stands , this is a close run thing , every last vote will make a difference
11. And replied , on hold
12. I have for sale my trusty Schroeder 21012L . This is a fantatsic cab and has given me faultless service since I bought it 5 years ago. It was bought from Geoffbassist on here with its pedigree available to see on the sale thread I got it from http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 2x10 forward firing and 1x12 angled with an adjustable tweeter, it is the lighter model around 26Kgs as far as I can tell , though I have not weighed it , it is certaianly very handleable. Comes complete with padded cover and the control knob for the tweeter seperate (as it was when I picked it up) There are 1 or 2 scuffs on the cover and the cab corner protectors but apart from that it is in very good condition 4Ohm and 1000watts it will handle just about anything you throw at it and will cut through in a live situation with ease. I have bought a TC Electronics rig which is slightly more versatile for the rooms we end up playing in now and gives me a tiny footprint, and while I would love to keep the Schroeder , it really has to go . I was thinking of holding on to it but have seen recently that there is still a fair bit of love for Schroeder cabs so I thought I would help out out by sharing that love I would prefer collection / meet up for the deal but could also get hold of some packaging should anyone wish to organise a carrier. Thats it I suppose , I believe the price realistic for the quality of the cab as it still has plenty of quality service to offer . Many thanks
13. I saw a band at Disney Paris the other week , They were a proper band, soundman , lights etc, now I know Disney can afford it, but these guys played to 10 people , even when 93,000 had been at the park that day , I saw some great bands at Butlins Bognor a few years ago , but again, playing to a handful of punters , shame really
14. we did a show with a few other bands and a great singer who was in the west end at one point , it was a fundraiser with about 400 people , they wanted to use our PA but we declined and suggested they hire a PA in , it was a bit late but they got one set-up , the biggest issue was that the only guy they had to run it had the 2-bob bits , what a night that was , I ended up playing tracks for the singer after a manic 20 second run through of the desk , while he went of for a 20 minute run through of a different type
15. brilliant stuff guys , a very difficult choice again but I have made one , I am itching to get started again next month now !!
16. Just bought an onboard preamp from Paul , a very easy and straight forward purchase , many thanks
17. we played out a pub 'fun day' last night , in the field behind the pub in a marque. It was great fun and we got quite a decent sound by all counts 2 new ones went down really well Blondie -Hanging on the telephone, and the killers -when you were young.. It stayed relatively dry for the gig but it hammered down on the load out , good job we have covers for all the cabs! The ground was awful and we had no stage, just set up in the corner of the tent on the grass, though we had enough mats and covers to keep the kit clean from the floor , tidying the cable bag this morning sees the long run stuff a bit muddy , A good night though and the promise of a return
18. I have got very little chance this month , but September will see me back in the fold I am sure , I will hang fire from listening to the input so far , just in case I find the time and the room . The lad has found gainful employment and will move all his gear out next weekend ,so all systems could be go again then !!
19.
It hadn't occurred to me, to use them like that
Nor me ! And it leaves the strap free to use on guitars that don't have the locks on , I may well try that method
20. I have a tenuous claim to fame with regard to Keith Hopwood , an original hermit, my lad is very good friends with his lad and has worked on various music and film projects with him
21.
Obviously people have better things to do and see there. I doubt the band would mind much...they know the score, took the gig and are getting paid. I'd bet it was a residency.
I guess so , it just seemed a bit mad to have such a decent set up and an empty bar , especially if it was like that most nights
22. They were in the country bar in disney village, a great venue , quality sound and lights, it had everything you would expect, except people !
23.
I guess those 93,000 people yesterday and 50,000 people today didn't go there to listen to a blues/country/softish rock covers outfit. Maybe if they dressed up as a mouse . . . . .
I think they did all dress up as mice , maybe the band should have as well Having stayed for the second set , the band were good , little raport maybe , a touch bland with the song choices , but deserved better than they got , I am sure they were a pro act though and the €€ would have been enough to settle their bar tab
24. Well I popped out to see the Kareoke and all the singing appears to be foreign , and so do the subtitles , je ne comprends pas
