1. As above. Try also The Blind Poet up on the southside.
2.
Graphite paint is also available from e -bay - easier to apply than copper shielding
Indeed. The Vintage range of guitars use this. Foil works, yeh, but too much faff!
3.
Ah, that one - Versoul, made in Finland. See: http://www.ronniewood.com/versoul.aspx
Interesting. Many thanks for that!
4.
Duesenberg Pearl Front?
It was the one with the reverse headstock, all yellow with a blue-ish gemstone-type thing behind the bridge.
5.
The great thing about Steinbergers is how so many people get put off by the looks. So we get all this to ourselves: - As much punch as a StingRay - As much fat as a Precision - Almost as much sustain as a pointless Basschat debate - Harder to kill than a 70s TV detective - Stays in tune almost as long as a TU-3 - As easy to transport as a set of straighteners CB
Yep, I used to spin off to rehearsals on my pushbike with the Steiny on my back.
6. I know there's one of you out there who'll bite on this. Just hurry up, will ya??
7. Sunday Glasto bumpage.
8. BIG SSS fan here! And love the match-up with JPJ.
9. I haven't sold anything on ebay for a while but I recently sold some guitar parts. Had to send the (sole bidder) a reminder to pay and sent 'em two days after he did, Special Delivery. A week later I get and email saying the parts hadn't arrived and could I look into it. I gave him the tracking number but looked it up myself to find it was still in transit! I phoned up Royal Mail who then proceed to tell me that the item had been refused at that address and was being held (due to lack of return address - Doh!) until I got in contact with them. The cynic in me says the guy has had second thoughts about the purchase and this is his way of getting out of it but they are going straight back to hime as soon as they land on my mat!
10. I thought they were a bit guff, aksh, apart from Charlie who looked like was really enjoying himself for once! Mick Taylor looked lost or beweildered. Or both. Anyone have an idea what that guitar Woody was using towards the end??
11. Hhmmm .... quick correction: NOT a JB Plus!
12. Aha! A are Jazz Bass Plus! Sure there was a fella on here recently looking for one.
13. Putting John Hall's bollox aside, I've had nine Ric 4000 series basses in my days. Some I liked, some I grew to detest but two I loved: the 4001CS (which I should not have sold!) and a'73 4001 toaster/chequerboard. Those two were sweet basses.
14. I guess the bass could have been stolen many times through carelessness. And, yes, his illness/state of mind no doubt had a lot to do with his seemingly cavalier attitude towards it in his later days. Anywa, for me, that isn't the BOD, not any more. And I must say I detested that vid of 'name' bassists who sat down and salivated over it when it resurfaced. If we're going along the lines that a bass nicked/lost/sold 30-odd years ago cannot have its history tracked, then RT has a right to keep it if he bought it and it's up him if he wants to gift it to the Pastorius family.
15.
How do you know it was stolen?
I don't know that 100%; do you know otherwise?? However, the general consenus is that it was stolen, not long after it got banjaxed by a taxi-cab and then repaired, or something to that effect.
16. Thing is, it's not really the Bass of Doom! Kaufmann put that quilted top on it so it's gonna sound different, isn't it, notwithstanding any changes to pups and harness. For me, the thing is still stolen property but, as many of us who have spotted our nicked gear in a hock-shop, the dealer will undoubtedly say to the cops that he 'bought it in good faith'! Has the Pastorius family asked for its return??
17. C'mon fellas........good price for this L2.
18. I used to own an early Status Series II and can say the neck on the L2 is a bit slimmer, especially so further up the neck. Actually, I'd like that SII back: a Status collector somewhere down in England has it but I doubt I've got much chance of getting it back.
19. Leg rests can be acquired from Andy Yakub on the STeiny forum. He does a run of them now and again when there's enough demand.
20. No love for this L2??
21.
Loved their stuff up until Relayer, Squier was a huge influence..................and now I think, some things are of their time,...... and that time has gone. Oh well...............sighhhhhhhhh
Quite, although I would stretch it to GFTO. Tormato was the start of the slide, ending in the drivel that was Drama. I went to see them when they toured Drama and, my God, they were awful. That was it for me, bar 90125.
