1. And this, from section 4c of ebay's GPP T&Cs:- Risk of Loss. Notwithstanding any of the foregoing, as between you and your Seller, the risk of loss or damage to a GSP Item shall remain with your Seller until the GSP Item is accepted at the U.S. Shipping Center. As between you and Pitney Bowes, risk of loss or damage to a GSP Item shall transfer to you from Pitney Bowes and/or its third party parcel processing service providers when the GSP Item leaves the U.S. Shipping Center. However, your purchase may be covered by the eBay Buyer Protection policy and the PayPal Purchase Protection policy. Interesting.
2. ebay is also adding on charges within the postage cost and various handling fees within the import charges.Nice!
3. Aannnd here we go! See post 2. http://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Payment-Topics/GLOBAL-POSTAGE-SYSTEM/td-p/422567
4.
Do you mean the 'Global Postage Programme'? If you do then do an internet search for that phrase and all will be revealed.
I saw that when I looked at the particular auction I was looking at. And now that I've looked at it further I'm definitely not happy about an additional and non-UK third party taking control of import/VAT charges (although VAT is not directly mentioned). I'd like to hear of this process being successfully concluded at the UK end before I went near it. I mean, if you know you're gonna be due, say, £300 to HMRC and it gets paid via paypal when you completed the auction payment process and then, a week or so later, your bass/guitar is being held up by the International Hub in Coventry cos it's awaiting payment of charges. If it works, well and good, but I'm cynical enough to see payments being delayed or not received by Parcelforce on behalf of HMRC. On a more positive note - does this payment of charges up front sound the death knell for Parcelfarce's underserved and hated £13 'handling charge'?
5. I have the old SuperJazz, the B4, but would be interested to know how the tone boost on yours performs and is it's frequency adjustable or preset?
6.
yeah i'm not into this
Me neither! I can just see the clowns at Coventry charging you as well. What happened to freedom of choice? Must look into this further.
7. No, auctions state custom charges are calculated when the item is won; there's even a breakdown of what you'd expect to pay on the auction page itself! Unless I've got this totally wrong................
8. Not really sure about this. What if you didn't want the bass shipped outside the USA? I'd love to know how HMRC get their pound of flesh from the USA end.

10. Went active in the'80s - Ibanez,.Status, Alembic then on to Warwick Musicman and Steinberger. Then I picked up a Jazz and that was that, with my fav circuit being the earlier version of the stackpot cicuit. Id hv a Thumb again, though.
11. And that £13 Parcelfarce handling fee is ludicruous. I recently bawled them out as the kept a set of custom pickups up at the Edinburgh depot for a week without updating their status: they were still showing as being 'held' at Coventry all the while they were languishing in the Edinburgh depot.
12. Sorry, I'm feeling rather mischievous and can't resist it....
13.
Worst attempt at damage limitation I've ever seen. My favourite quote of the thread: "....the professional luthier's attempt to reverse blame and his complete disregard for paragraph structure don't do him any favors, imo."
Mine was '...played it in front of me, like a man..'. I just love that gallus, non-relevant comment!
14. I dunno, I reckon it's not a bad deal, esp if you went into the shop and had a chat with them about ebay fees, etc. And the orginal pup is included in the sale.
15. Think this model was discussed on here recently. Never knew he played one.
16. You bought my L2?? EDIT: hmm... maybe not. Guy who works between Edinburgh and Dublin, I think.
17. I had this model a few years back. Bought it s/h with a bit of up-bow which I thought I'd be able to sort with the old washer trick on the nut threads, this time at the body end of the neck. Worked for a wee while then up came the neck again so off it went to Jimmy Moon in Glasgow and he fitted his own rods which worked a treat. By that time I was hacked off with the thing - happened to me with every Rick bar the CS - so off to ebay it went!
18. Check out his hatchet-job custom build, too. Think this is who MDP aspires to be one day! http://www.swapz.co.uk/swapz/3190618/RUFF_NECK_CUSTOM_BUILT_FRETLESS_STICK_BASS_GUITAR/
19. The brown fella. Guitarist mate of mine has one lying around(!!!) Not sure on price but somewhere around £150. Will get more info and pix.
20. I think there's Bm, A6 in there and then E and Esus4. Certainly on the recorded version, anyway.
21.
It's already been discussed on a thread on ric resource FWIW: http://www.rickresou...p?f=14&t=409654
Still being discussed on Ozbass......
22.
Rics float on sea snails? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conus Would the warranty even cover that?
Love it!!
