I am selling my Steinberger XL2 Bass from 1988.

Specs:

Carbon Fibre Bass

24 frets

34" scale

EMG pickups (active)

Volume/Volume/Tone (passive)

Production date according to SteinbergerWorld seems to be end of '88.
Very good condition, only one minor scratch on the back. Otherwise nearly MINT in my eyes. Action is very low due to the straight neck and the frets which show very few wear. Everything works fine. Bass comes with original Steinberger gigbag which survived in MINT condition too.

This is the 2nd generation of the famous Steini paddle, here with the passive tone shaping unit - similar to a Jazz Bass. I personally prefer the passive version over the active one (model name XL2A). The pickups are still active though, so a battery is required.

Hard to find one in this condition and sought after by both players and collectors.

New features of the XL2 vs. the original L2

faceplate attaches from the rear

folding leg rest

logo engraved/embedded in gel coat finish

serial number stamped on bridge end of body

smaller compression fit battery cover on top corner of back w/ no printing

true double ball headpiece (single ball strings require use of an adapter)

neck profile slightly less chunky
