1. I had a Linc Luthier 5 fretless with AS neck. Loved it . Made complete sense for a long scale, wide neck.
2. I've paid it on second-hand kit from the 'States as well, Karlfer. Still, I've dodged HMRC's Pound of flesh many times by getting geetars taken back from ther USA by friends and holidaymakers. That balances things out. BTW, watch out for them getting the commodity codes wrong. Always check your charges. It will take you weeks or months to get them back if they are erroneous but if you persevere you will!
3. So, if these ebay sales are 'legal contracts', why do sellers like this get away with not shipping? Same with non-paying buyers: where is the law to assist the wronged seller or buyer??
4. I can remember Frank demoing Washburn and Dynacord gear back in the '80s! Great player.
5. I nearly bought the MIM with the Jazzmaster pup but it was £500+. Interesting to see this Squire.
6. Save? I'm a see-and-buy guy. When I was young it was always on HP, though I once plundered the savings of a band I played in for an advance on an Ibby MC924 that some show in London was doing for a ridic cheap price! Later years, I went to the bank for a loan if I spotted something. Saving is a bit of an anathema to me.
7. That's been on ebay for a while, I think. Unless it's another one. I thought there was one similar in NKRV. The cheapest I've seen is a refin at £6.7K and the most expensive at £30K. I wonder what the offer on this fella was.
8. Geezer in Toronto selling a natural Starcaster.
9. Anyone on here? Shuker
10. Ok, thanks. Sorry I can't help with views on them but it sounds like you got a great deal!
11. He was known to pick up any Jazz if he didn't have his around (viz Live in Italy) but here's a link to what his family reckon he owned:- http://www.jacop.net/gear.html
12.
To be fair, Jaco did play fretted basses too. And he did bolt a maple Precision neck on to the 'bass of doom' body for that instructional video when he was badly on the slide (mentally). Mind you it was maple, not rosewood ...
I had the VHS of that and, my God, it was appalling! FWIW, I recall International Musician doing an interview with him back in '77 or '78. In it, the author relates how JP opened up a double-flightcase to reveal two Jazzes. One appeared to be the BOD and another had a fretted Precision neck on it, which JP used to practice his stretching on. Unfortunately, I can't recall whether that neck had a maple or a rosewood 'board.
13. I have seen early '90s CS models with the insignia at the bulbous end of the headstock but, obviously, this is a different kettle of fish altogether.
14. Kinda reminds me of Chris Squire's acid-influenced, wallpaper-covered RM1999.
15. Looks like a Squire VM body and maybe a '62RI neck
16. If only it was a 5050 and dark wine red.... Nice, but not sure thsts the original colour. Could be but Im not sure
17. The body is pinewood, is it not? How do u find it, tone-wise?
18.
Dig this bridge baby!
If that doesnt deserve an almighty slagging, I dunno what does! Oh,.wait....this has already been crucified on here and on 7string forum! MDP deserves a slagging for what he does to these guitars. And his prose is choice as well. If he stopped selling, ebay and Basschat would be less entertaining for it!
19. VAT is only paid on freight, for some weird reason. Seller got back to me and is happy to avoid the GPP.
20. There's a story that they heard Wilson playing bass as they walked through a part of Edinburgh during the Festival and that's - supposedly- how he ended up on FGT. sh*t DI'd bass sound, though.
21.
I'm unfamiliar with the work of this masterful artist - are there any links to his masterpieces of which I should be aware ?
Sounds like the Private Eye Andrew O"Neill pix
22. It's certainly worth analysis and discussion. I took the decision today to email tbe USA seller and ask him if he'd opt out. If he doesn't, I'm not wasting my money.
