Went through a phase of collecting late 70's/early 80's MIJ guitars, specifically Tokai Love Rock's & Ibanez Artist & Iceman. Great guitars, rubbish guitar player. Bizarrely, didn't buy any basses. Sold them on because I was a bit strapped for cash. I see the point in having them if you're going to play them, but beyond that, it's in the realms of more money than sense.

Recently quit the band I co-founded with the guitarist 10 years ago, fortunately, there's no kit to divvy up or anything, so that's a plus. The guitarist wants me back, the drummer does too, but he's also wanting to keep the singer, who I have an issue with. The singer is half our age, mid-twenties, and is keen. He also does a solo show around the local pubs & clubs. I was taking my son to his band rehearsal, and saw the singer come out when the previous band finished. He told me (awkwardly) that he was "just jamming" with them. A few months later, we'd agreed to do a charity benefit gig with 3 other bands. However, the singer turns up with all of his keyboards. The guitarist was really put out by this, and a big discussion ensued. "No one is bigger than the band", however the night turns into the singer's showpiece, appearing in 2 bands, then guesting with the headline band for a few songs. The next gig, supporting the band from the previous gig, over 100 miles away (and no cash to cover fuel), he's all pally with them, they basically ignore us, I wasn't in the best of moods anyway as the transport arrangements changed drastically the day before the gig. Played first, then effed off home. The singer comes across as a nice lad initially, but as you get to know him, he comes across as self obsessed. He certainly never told the rest of us about the other bands, and especially didn't tell us about the various gigs he's playing with them, including slots at a couple of festivals that he knows that we've been trying to get on for a few years. Anyway, considering my options...

Watched the Idles set on iPlayer this morning, nothing else piqued my interest (though may watch the PJ Harvey set later). Think the Idles bass player used a Jazz, a Serek, a Mustang and a P. Assume that they were using multiple tunings, as the instrument changes were mirrored by the guitarists.

Powered bass cab / active bass cab for use with a Kemper
Skybone replied to vinorange's topic in Amps and Cabs
Don't have one, but I do like the look of them. If it's an FRFR, then it should be capable of handling bass as well as guitar. I'm assuming that they're just marketing them at guitarists because no one expects a bass player to be up to speed with digital modelling... There don't seem to be too many bass-specific powered cabs available. Started a thread about it a while ago. -
Thousand Mile Stare: Black Hole Heart Meant to post the link to the album, not just one song. Hard rock from the Highlands.

IMO, generally, the things that appear in the Marketplace on BC are well priced. We are all gear-heads or we wouldn't be here, so we're savvy with not only what stuff tends to sell for, but also what kind of price someone would be willing to pay. I would really hope that no one takes the you-know-what with their pricing. Haggled marginally for things, knocking a bit off here and there, free postage etc. but generally buying and selling for a fair price.

If you are palm muting, then the Hipshot is definitely the one to go for. The Babicz is great if you want to keep the look of the original bridge unit, but are having issues with the intonation of the original saddle piece. Definitely keeping hold of the Hipshot though, I have other plans for that.

Was lucky enough to pick up a Babicz replacement bridge on here a while back, and finally got around to fitting it to my other Ric (replacing the Hipshot I also bought from here). It was a bit of a faff, as the saddles needed to come off to fit the saddle plate, and then getting the saddles back in and adjusted, but once in and re-strung, intonation is spot on, and the string height is lower than it was with the Hipshot.

Rickysounds is usually the best place to try. Bought a couple of chrome ones from them.
