Line6 POD Go. Yes, it's not as powerful as the Helix range, but IMO, it has everything that a bass player needs, certainly everything that I need in a great sounding and versatile box.

There is something a bit disconcerting watching people in their 50's playing "Teenage Kicks". 🤔😄

Bizarrely, I'd love to fit a couple of single coil soapbars to a T'bird. It'll be interesting to see how this one turns out, there's a picture of Lemmy when he was in Hawkwind playing a T'bird with a muducker in the neck position.

Those natural finish through neck Thunderbird's are fantastic looking basses.

I'd always hankered after a Rickenbacker, finally bought one and it was everything I expected and more. Unfortunately, I had to sell that one, but managed to pick up the black 'plate version in my avatar a few years back. Owned a few "nice" basses, and a lot of "iffy" basses, the Ric's beat them all hands down IMO. Though the Westone Thunder 1A and the Aria Pro II SB Special II were definite stand out basses.

Because in the 40-odd years I've been gigging, I've never had an issue with any of my kit. Always carry a spare set of strings. Only ever had one string break when I've been playing, and that was 30-odd years ago at a rehearsal.

I can understand taking a spare instrument if you are in a band that's going to play 2-3 hours worth of music over numerous sets at functions / weddings etc. However, if you're playing 30-40-60 minute sets down the Dog & Duck, then I think it's probably a bit overkill.

One of the best things I learned many years ago, after having been over-charged (IMO) for a set-up on a guitar, where they didn't appear to have done anything other than change the strings. I do like tinkering with stuff, and what's more satisfying than working on your own guitar?
