  1. My son's applied for a music course at the local college, fingers crossed he gets a place. He was asking me about how he could pick up session work (he's a drummist). I have no idea, but networking is key.
  2. Escape, Alt & F4 - Lancashire Hotpots
  3. Must admit to going back and looking at this while it was up for sale. Great looking bass, enjoy your new toy.
  4. The recent SBL Geddy Lee vid that was posted elsewhere talked a bit about the "clank" you get from moving your plucking position closer to the neck. If you watch vids of early Geezer, Geddy & the Ox, they all play closer to the neck. Always thought it gave a more "plummy" sound, almost double bass-ish, but if you play a bit harder, it does have that bit more of an attack. Another thing I've noticed is that you can get a bit more of an attack by using the side of your fingers rather than the tips. If you angle your hand a touch toward the neck from where you anchor your thumb, you can change which part of the finger plucks the string. Works for me.
  5. For as much as I like Rush, I can't stand Yes. Or Led Zep for that matter. Completely agree about the Glenn Hughes comments too, but bizarrely, always thought that Ian Gillan was ace. Go figure. Don't get me started on Greta Van Fleet...
  6. If you don't get it, you don't get it. If you get it though, it's a masterclass.
  7. I have a set of Wave Rider's in a Rickenfaker, fabulous sounding pickups. I bought them because, other than Retrovibe, they're the only company in the UK that makes Ric compatible pickups, and I didn't fancy any of the other alternatives.
  8. Stunner of a bass. Always loved the B301/302's. GLWTS.
  9. "There's a few AC/DC songs we'd like you to learn too"
  10. Just finding a decent rock singer is hard enough.
  11. It really depends on what you want to achieve TBH. If you want to replace your separate pedals, or enhance them with more options, then something like the Zoom B1-Four might be a good place to start. The MS60B is an old model now, and the B1-Four is more recent, and hopefully benefitting from upgraded chipsets and better effect models. There are a couple of good looking options in the Effects For Sale section just now: Zoom B2 Four Line6 M13 Line6 M9 These will give you a good selection of digital effect models to play with. Not sure if any of them have FX Loops though.
  12. It completely depends on what you want to do, it is your bass after all. IIRC, the only pickups available for the Ripper are the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop which aren't cheap.
  13. I guess it would have to be another Jetglo 4003, maybe a few tweaks from standard (black scratchplate & TRC). Happy to discuss this with Rickenbacker. Though I suspect it'd mean me just buying one. 🙄
  14. I did wonder where it'd gone. Stunning bass.
