1.
I would argue the only person that will get Duff's sound from his signature model is Duff. Blue
2.
The Duff McKagan is a good example of how a sig instrument should be. The bass it`s modeled on is no longer in production, and many people like Duffs sound, so to me this one makes sense.
That's an example that always seems a bit daft to me - why not just reissue the bass if there's a demand for it? Duff's was always just a stock bass after all. I've always felt the signature bass should in some way be unique to the player.
3.
My immediate thought was to wonder what they bring to the party that a Danelectro doesn't. But I am still curious
What's the connection between Danelectro and Eastwood? Very different instruments.
4. What exactly is it - two pedals in one?
5. Wow, never seen that Surfcaster before! Very nice indeed! I love the Mosrite lookalike as well, and for once the Youtube demos make them sound really good! I would love one but they are priced just a bit the wrong side of affordable for me at the moment.
6. Excellent condition, with original box. Bought to use on old Pink Floyd stuff and Brian May/Brighton Rock moments - which it does brilliantly - but there are loads if different settings, some quite loopy, but very versatile. Here's the official blurb: With up to 4 seconds of delay, which is more than most studio processors, your creativeness will have no limits! The DigiDelay pedal gives you 7 different types of delay to choose from which include tape, modulated, reverse, and a looper that will allow for an infinite amount of 4 second layers. Don't settle for sub-par craftsmanship or limited options in a pedal. Go for quality and go with DigiTech. This rugged metal chassis will stand the test of time and offers further options like dual mono and stereo outputs as well as switchable cabinet modeling. Features •Up to 4 seconds of delay •7 different delay types plus Tap Temp •Stereo outputs with switchable CIT™ Cabinet Modeling For sale only. £35 and I 'll throw in UK postage too. Pics to follow...
7.
Hi guys, another quick demo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs7SCF9bHtA&feature=youtu.be this is a very gainy pedal, hard to tame but some nice sounds to it. I think its a clone of the OCD by Fulltone so can get the Brian Cook "Russian Circles" sort of sound. Not really that super usable for me on a gig except maybe for an Overdrive for The Who songs:) enjoy Michael
Nice demo - it certainly works well with that bass. It would be nice to hear a few different settings though. How's it like with the low end?
8.
Apropos of nothing at all, one of my favourite reads is Mo Foster's book "17 Watts?". If you've not read it, just go find a copy. Superb. The title comes from the moment when his first band upgraded their one, shared combo to a WEM Dominator, rated at 17 watts. They weren't sure what they were going to do with all that power ...
Excellent book! A must-read. Now available in expanded form but with a very drab new cover and title: http://www.amazon.co.uk/British-Rock-Guitar-Musicians-Stories/dp/0857160001
9. Could that pickup be any closer to the bridge?! No, no it couldn't.
10. Buddy Holly - first single I ever bought. On cassette, no less! Played it to death. Never really followed their career since as I soon went fully metal and anything with pop sensibilities had to be abandoned.
11. That's a shame, it's got your name on it and everything!
12.
Anyone who finds what I've just said controversial or offensive - or indeed, has taken offence at anything Blue has said - simply needs to grow the fk up; musically and otherwise.
Wow.
13. I use the Joyo Classic Flanger - the white one with the Harrier Jump Jet on the front. Very cheap but excellent sound, and no low end loss. I sold mine but bought it back soon after as it's such a great thing to have on the board.
14. I'll be the lone voice here and say that the Bass Soul Food should get you that sort of drive without a problem. Not the exact tone but close enough for rock and roll, and if you listen to the original it's not got masses of drive anyway.
15.
https://www.youtube....h?v=nhBzjIxHwvc
Not bad, that. Nothing special but nowhere near the horror I was expecting.
16. Allparts are superb. Cheaper if you buy on Ebay rather than direct though.
17.
His demos are way better than those guys that slap.
Oh, without a doubt. He just seems unable to do a Rick demo without some 'Sleep riffage' with so much fuzz it could be anything. It's all a bit self-congratulatory. If the actual bass demo, pedal free, were a bit longer and more detailed... But it's easy to moan. One day I'll pull me finger out and make some of my own 😁
18. Nice! Reminds me of Gene Simmons' old LoBue bass. That chap's demos do my head in though - why does he insist on playing the second half through ridiculously heavy fuzz or distortion? Every time!
19. Mint or dark tort.
20.
Depends on the genre and band I suppose. Learning 20 Ramones songs would be less of a challenge than getting to grips with one Dream Theater track (IMO of course).
This.
21. I did it for donkey's years with an old Ibanez Blazer - essentially a Precision bass. I used a 110 or 115 as the C but I quite like a bit of rattle and growl, and it suited the type of music I was playing. I always found using a B string, for example a 130, to be a bit much, but if you're after keeping the tight feel it might be the way to go.
22.
Wow, that is really something. Perhaps I could make the trip oop north and see it in the flesh sometime? Absolutely fantastic, a real piece of Fender history... like your rug.
I don't know either of you but I'm coming too.
23. That's amazing. One of the best live bass sounds I ever heard was one of these through an Orange half stack.
