1.
I've posted adverts looking for experimental musicians to collaborate with, and gotten replies from 'classic rock' bands wanting to know if I'd be interested in auditioning for them.
You really don't like Classic Rock do you
2. Welcome back that man!
3.
From my earlier post:
I'm no Hucknall fan, but that is a wonderful bit of song placement there. Suits the scene perfectly. Incidentally, the only time I've really enjoyed Simply Red was the time I was having an ingrowing toenail removed in hospital. I had some sedative or other running in the back of my hand so I was fully away in happy land, and what 'Stars' came on the radio I started hallucinating to the music. I can remember singing along too, in my confused state. Lord knows what the surgeon thought.
4. I'm always amazed that the bass part to 'Something' can be considered 'busy'. It's far from simple root notes, but to my ear it slides around the melody perfectly.
5.
As the guys who own this bass know what i am talking about it has a fantastic feel to it this bass, sound wise it is just soooo right !!! lots of bottom end with fantastic bite at the same time, a fantastic feeling bass, whether it has Geddy lee's name on it or not i would still want it, this is a well designed instrument with a lot of nice touches, i haven't picked a Ric up since i have had this bass !!!!
If you decide to sell any of your Ricks let me know
6.
Oh yeah, any mention of that kind of stuff is instant invalidation from me. Somewhere between Germany and the UK...
I like that. A lot.
7. I think it's justifiable - you can't get the DVD/Blu-Ray content anywhere else other than bootlegs, and the remastered quality will be far higher.
8. And here I was thinking 'Black Spaghetti On Stage' was some obscure 70s live album...
9. PJ's the man. And he must be so bloody busy too.
10. I saw Vic Reeves was there on the first night.
11. Bloody good they are. I felt privileged to be there. And indeed, some wonderful surprises in the setlist!
12.
Hamburger Concerto by Focus. Didn't have the success of its predecessors Focus 3 and Moving Waves, both of which had very successful singles (Sylvia and Hocus Pocus) - the single from Hamburger Concerto was Harem Scarem which sank without a trace.
If Pierre Van Der Linden was on it it would have been perfect.
13.
Black Sabbath - Sabotage. Not a fan of Sabbath/heavy metal at all but the album just blows me away every time. It never seems to get a mention when their work is discussed, which is a shame as it's such a diverse and 'risky' album..
It also happens to be my favourite album ever! Inspired by seeing several of it's songs played live last night - a massive surprise - I would like to nominate 'Islands' by King Crimson. Terminally unpopular and very much an oddity among their other albums, it's actually rather beautiful and pioneering - Sigur Ros seem to have taken inspiration from it.
14. Smashing! Time even for a cheeky pint afterwards!
15. How long was the set roughly? I too am having minor journey home concerns...
16. TONIGHT
17. Wow! Amazing bargain.
18. I was watching that on Ebay, congrats!
19. Sweet Soul Music. HATE HATE HATE IT. We still play Mustang Sally at weddings as it always goes down a storm, without fail.
20.
NBD in progress, should receive this one in a few weeks. i'm pretty curious about the improvement in ergonomics compared with original ones: 34-inch scale, better balance due to heavier body, neck seems a little larger after 12th fret too. Can't wait !
What is this beauty?!
21. When Geddy was in his Wal phase, he used them exclusively both on stage and in the studio as far as I can tell.
22.
Pawn Hearts - Van Der Graaf Generator.
I've always thought that album was held in very high regard. At least in the prog community.
23. I've just got one of these, been playing it all day! Bonkers fun. GLWTS.
