I suspect it is more a case of me being unlucky. Though I'm not overly surprised of the neck distortion if it has indeed sat in a case for 4 years!

Spoke to GAK and they look like they're going to arrange collection of it and rectify the issues or send out a fully checked replacement. Just waiting on confirmation and we'll go from there... I don't see this as a fault of GAKs, but then again these basses do appear to be 4 years old!

Well I am decidedly unimpressed... Several frets are not level and the B side of the neck has a light bow when the G side is dead straight so action on the B side cannot be lowered to where it needs to be. With the action as low as I can get it, which is still too high for me, there is spotted buzz all over the higher end of the neck. The frets need crowning properly and feel quite uncomfortable when moving up and down the neck. The build quality is OK, nothing at all special. My main gripe is definitely the fret work and the neck bow. I shall be having words with GAK to see the best resolve for this... So yeah, not particularly impressed by this 'Gibson' at the moment! Nice case though!

Glad I bought one now! Due to be delivered tomorrow. Grab the eBay one if possible... a pre-owned one sold the other week for £550 on eBay so if you can grab a new one for £399 before it's too late then treat yourself!

Anyone heard of a brand bass called 'Rainbow KF'?

Passed in the end, my curiosity dulled somewhat when the seller stopped communicating. -
Should get mine tomorrow/Tuesday, hopefully I'll share your opinion of it being a genuine bargain once I've had a test run.
-
It's not the most handsome Gibson by any stretch, but at £399 I think it represents very good value if the overall reviews are accurate. Worst case scenario it can be sold a few months later and you'll break even! Fugly for sure... but if it looked twice a good it'd cost twice as much!

Bought... to arrive on Tuesday!

£399 for a USA Gibson with free delivery and hard case... REALLY struggling not to buy it especially considering they have a track record of selling for more than this on the second hand market! Gunna have to sell something as per the one in one out rule but I don't think I can withstand temptation!

Bought an Ozark Resonator Bass from Tony, he very graciously delivered it to me at work and a smooth deal was had! A great transaction and a great bass at a good price. Deal in confidence with Tonteee, you won't have any issues. Russ.

These are actually made in Brazil... so it'd be Brazilian garbage at best! Also, this is a 'signature bass' for some Brazilian session musician I've never heard of so perhaps it is a reasonable player? It is a gamble for sure, this model is based on the Yamaha TRB basses so could be ok... I'm betwixt! If I do end up with it, I'll let you know what I think of it. -

Thanks sir, I've just checked out DeOliveria basses, the site isn't overly helpful though! The seller is happy to post so that's not too much of a problem hopefully! -
Hi chaps and chapettes, Has anyone heard of a brand called Rainbow KF? I've come across a pretty good looking 6 string bass with Gotoh tuners and what looks like Hipshot single rail bridges, it has abalone block inlays and a few bits of carbon fibre here and there... all in a good looking thing! Not sure on the quality of the general build or how it plays/sounds. The seller is over 300 miles away so trying it out is not possible! Just wondering if anyone has any experience with these basses? Ta, Russ.

Just read that... sorry I skimmed over the ad! Shade too far for me, I'm sure someone will snatch it up. Good luck with the move sir!

Where are you located sir? This could be of use!

To be fair it's about equal of a 'crime'... someone buying legitimately to sell on for profit with the use of the OP's pictures without consent Vs someone trying to contact the seller to buy the bass knowing the auction has ended and been won by someone else. The only way I suppose you might have the morale high ground is if you did manage to get the bass you'd need to never sell it for a single penny more than you paid for it even years down the line, else you run the risk of falling into the hypocrite category! I suppose the REAL morale high ground would be yours had you of informed the seller about their bargain price and offered to pay him a sum more in line with current prices... Interesting debate though...

I do this on a semi-regular basis with lower end guitars etc. If a seller is happy to sell to me for an agreed price and I go and collect the item and give them cash and then I take the effort to restore/fix/clean up the item and re-sell it and make a profit the that's just business. Literally everything you buy has a profit made on it buy someone somewhere otherwise we'd all work for free and and the economy would collapse in a giant heap! The guy should of taken his own pictures and created his own description but other than that, he bought the bass fairly and is entitled to advertise it at what ever price he chooses! Gotta be on the ball if you want to snap up those rare genuine bargans!
