A storm of Thunderbirds?
-
I get it in principle. It'd be like a Star Trek universe kind of scenario, where everyone works to better themselves and not for financial gain. But humanity isn't there yet, we're still all inherently selfish and look out for our own. What I earn, I work for and do 'things' outside of the norm (mostly excessive travelling and chairing numerous meetings etc.) to earn that. Some would prefer to earn a different wage and not do what I do. Same for me and other jobs I wouldn't want to do (even if I could) that earn differently. Choice and the reward for 'hard work' are necessary at the moment in the society we've built.
-
Stitch is with that, you eliminate the reward aspect of years of learning. Why go through 6-8 years of training and education to be earning the same as a shelf stacker? Yes, we need shelf stackers, but there are those that would rather earn less and not go through rigorous learning and those that would choose to go through years of education to reach a goal. I agree, in an idealistic world, you're right. But in reality it wouldn't work as we'd have no surgeons and lots of stackers!

I suspect you're probably the only person to 'download to try' then go and spend money on the same thing you've already downloaded. If you could provide the evidence for stating that illegally downloading music etc. factually provided income for the industry, I'd love to see it!
-
It's not about legally wriggling out of it, it's about recognising what is right and wrong. Illegally using someone else's trademarked property is wrong, in fact it's theft. Think about the forward ramifications of accepting this now as 'just a bit of fun'... it will normalise that thought process and when AI expands to start impacting you personally, for instance you being made redundant and your job going to AI (or someone you know), then it will be your acceptance of this that paved the way for that. AI is devaluing humanity under the guise of it all being just a bit of fun. It's also hugely preventative in the growth of real art and skills like graphic design. I personally know at least 3 people that have had to take up second 'unskilled' jobs just to keep afloat due to the impact of this kind of AI on their industry. Also, using an AI engine to justify the use of AI infringing on IP is, to say the least, ironic and I'd say very much confirms the above!
-
This might all be well and fun, and perceived as innocent, but it is the start of a slippery slope. I personally believe that people that use these AI services that blatantly, and with no apology, rip off IP from multiple trademarked platforms, have absolutely no right to complain when their IP, job, industry they work in etc. becomes impacted by this form of AI. What this AI is doing, and by virtue what people using it are doing is theft, it's that straight forward. AI in the not-so-intelligent form that it exists in, and is being used in, today is not a positive thing. In my humble opinion, something as blatant and obvious as this shouldn't be infecting this forum and I suspect it probably could leave BassChat open to legal ramifications.

Hi, I've just changed all of my current cymbals to Meinl Custom Classic Darks, so I'm now looking to sell all of the cymbals that were on my kit before the Meinl's came along! This is a full comprehensive set of cymbals that all sound superb. All have been used, some are older than others but all are in great condition and have no cracks anywhere. You can see the Sabian Pro Ride and the Zildjian Avedis Crash logos are faded a little, but this doesn't in any way impact the sound quality. All in, to buy these new would have cost you somewhere around £1200. The cymbals included are all listed below, I'll also throw in a decent quality Cymbal gig bag so they can all be carried away easily! Zildjian ZXT 14" Hi-Hats Paiste PST5 16" Thin Crash Zildjian Avedis 16" Crash Meinl HCS 10" Splash Istanbul Agop Xist 18" Crash Paiste 101 18" Crash Sabian Pro 20" Ride Paiste PST8 18" Rock China Collection from Wickford, Essex would be ideal, but I can probably post them if needed for around £20 as I have some spare bubble wrap and a box I can send them in - as well as them being in the cymbal bag.

Just finished putting together my new kit... Absolutely love it! The Shell Pack is a 7 piece Tamburo Opera Stave kit, hand made in Italy. It looks and sounds awesome with Evans blue hydrolic heads. I've switched my cymbals over to an 8 piece set of Meinl Custom Classic Darks. The black/gold hardware on the 'fantasy blue' finish of the kit works perfectly with the black/gold of the Meinl cymbals. It's a WAY better kit than my amateur drum skills deserve... I'll keep at it and maybe build up to skills deserving of it in 20 years...

107% Completely Legitimate...
binky_bass replied to binky_bass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Given the clear lies about having 'just bought it yesterday from a shop' and then advertising several guitars at 3 to 4 times RRP, I think we can factor that out. The below Ibanez Talman is £229 new, so him 'buying it yesterday' and saying that even at £560 it's 'loosing him money' is, to say the least, utter crªp. -

Also selling a Yamaha Pacifica 112 for £500 (down from £900 last week!) and a 'new' Ibanez Talman for £560 despite them being £250 new from any retailer. Pipe dreams or scammer?? -
Right, this one is a tough one... it really subtle, but can you spot the problem with this post?

Completed a standard Basschat shady car park exchange with @eddking this morning. T'was a rather bulky afair as the deal involved 4 guitars, a 7 piece drum kit and a big old bag of hardware! One of the finer things in life are these shady car park deals! Eddie was a true gent (and possibly a scholar?), he drove a fairly considerable distance to get the deed done and was a thorough decent chap! I'd be very happy to buy or sell to Mr King again - another credit to basschat!

Hi, Up for sale is my Mapex Black Panther Black Widow 14x5.5 Snare drum. I've had this for 2 years or so, it's been used by me and my drummer in my rehearsal room and hasn't ever left there so it's in excellent condition. It sounds super sharp, it current has a Remo Fiberskyn head on it and I think i have the original Mapex cloth bag for it somewhere... Collection from Wickford, Essex or I could potentially post if needed. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow - the current one is an Internet grab! Any questions, please do ask!

Hi, Up for sale is my PDP Concept 8" Tom. I've had this on my kit for a year or so from new, it's not been gigging and it's probably only been hit a few dozen times. These are fantastic toms, great to extend your kit to a 7 piece. Retail, these are north of £200 so £80 is a more than fair price. It's in excellent condition, no marks anywhere - very near mint condition! Collection from Wickford, Essex though I can probably post if needed. Any questions, please ask.

Hi, Up for sale here is my Mapex Storm Shell Pack. It's in the Textured Grey colour, which has a really clean and expensive look to it. Condition is absolutely excellent and it'll come with the floor tom legs as well as the tom mounts for the kick drum, so it can be set up and played without any additional hardware needed. The Pack includes: Mounted Tom 1: 10x7" Mounted Tom 2: 12x8" Floor Tom 1: 14x12" Floor Tom 2: 16x14" Kick Drum: 22x18" There is no snare included with the above however I do have a Mapex Black Panther snare and stand that I will be selling separately if you're interested in a deal for the Shell Pack and the Snare. I also have a PDP Concept 8" Tom if you want a 7 piece type kit. Happy to talk about a sale for the 5 piece Shell Pack, Black Panther snare and PDP 8" tom. Will load some more pictures tomorrow. Collection from Wickford, Essex. Any questions, let me know.

@EddieG - How's the bass, does it play well? Mine didn't... Intonation was way off and with a fixed bridge it could be rectified. Hope you're enjoying you're new bass. Assuming you have it that is... Sadly the betting man in me would wager everything I own of you not having it.
