  1. Build one or two and circulate them around a select few chosen basschatters for an honest critique. Ideally those that already play the kind of basses you're intending on building. That'd be a nearly free way to test for viability in terms of how your build stack up against those with a great deal of experience playing similar basses. It'd be important to ensure that those testing your build aren't just going to be 'yes men' and that they will give you very honest and candid feedback. Being polite to save your feelings will only do damage to any business longevity.
  2. For me, I always think to myself "what's the worst that can actually happen?", I mean even if play every note wrong, and accidentally fall off the stage and pants myself in the process, so what? Some mild embarrassment and a funny story, nothing life alteringly bad! Chances are, you'll just have a great time!
  3. It is... Though £1800 prior to shipping and taxes currently makes it outside of budget. Maybe when my waffle business takes off...
  4. FYI They paid £600 for it and wouldn't take £500, though I suspect they might end up doing so if it hasn't sold in another few months!
  5. I'm going to fret it with some rungs from an old rusty ladder I've got in the shed...
  6. Did they not have a RH tuner when they made this? Looks like a lovely Jazz but the placement of the G tuner is very odd!
  7. I'll be in Colchester tomorrow... might offer the £500 and see what happens!
  8. Your ad says it has Nordstrand pickups and then Delano pickups with the pictures showing white Delano pickups. I assume it doesn't have Nordstrands then? Or were the stock pickups Nordstrand and included in the sale?
  9. Fight all of them in a massive brawl, use as many weapons as is possible, I'd suggest swinging a ship's anchor around your head for maximum damage. Once everyone is sufficiently subdued tell them all it's their fault and that you're now going to take all their belongings and burn them in a giant fire followed by creating a commune where you are the leader and their families now live under your leadership. Or... just tell them honestly how you feel!
  10. My favourite cat food is Felix. I'm assuming this is the cat food thread, but I haven't read the title or any of the posts including what the OP wrote.
  11. I find these to be such underrated bits of kit. I've had this set up twice in the past and only moved it on twice as I always find myself wanting to try something different. The fact I've owned this same set up twice says a lot! I've probably owned 100-150 different rigs and only have owned the same rig on multiple occasions twice... this and an Eden WT1205. (Yes, firmly aware I've said the word 'twice' 5 times!)
  12. Its a 4 string bridge too, with only 2 saddles, same for the pups. All you'd need to convert it to a 4 string is 2 saddles, 2 strings and 2 machine heads! Looks like an MDP creation to my eyes!
  13. I've gotten up to chord Ab#7☆min♤¤¿dim*Q. That's a real tricky chord...
  14. That's 9 of the 16 acoustics... Problem? Me? No... 🙄
  15. Near is better than nothing! We did have a stupidly long sofa some years ago that got 'some' of them on... Half of these have been traded for other things since the below photos, but at least they're 'on' a sofa!
  16. Not 'on' the sofa, but there is a sofa in the picture! Also, this is less than 50% of the hoard... 😬
  17. There are 14 'Ranks' and 4 Badges. The 4th badge requires you to 'like' all 5,000,000 basschat posts.
  18. If it has to be labelled as one, then I'd say it should be labelled as the one where the parts of the bass are in the majority. So, a 72 for yours. Or... just label it fairly! This Bass Direct bass should be titled as 'Fender bista bass with unknown body, 62 neck with new fretboard and some original 62 parts'.
  19. Given the emotional content of this thread do you genuinely believe your comments help? If so, please can you be so kind as to advise how they are constructive as I have missed this.
  20. I don't think anyone else though you were trying to take over. Knowing you're not alone in a situation can definitely be therapeutic.
  21. Most of these are Hercules, some are String Swing, which are also decent. I've put more up in the studio since that photo was taken and have 8 more on walls in the house. None have failed yet!
  22. Hate to say it, but don't be surprised if your collection ends up in a heap on the floor with a wall mount like that. The distance from the wall will add much more pressure on the screws holding the thing up. Get a few second hand Hercules wall mounts. I have 30 or so of them, some mounted to dry wall (with the right rawl plugs) and they've not let me down carrying heavy loads (some 7 string basses) for years. They're not a foot proud of the wall either! You can normally pick them up for a tenner second hand, maybe less if you get someone selling a batch.
  23. I suppose without knowing where the body came from and who did the change over of the fretboard and electronics etc. it makes the value hugely subjective. But, I cannot see a day where it can be fairly called a '62 unless the replacement body can be verified as also a '62, which I'd doubt! If the body/fretboard were hand crafted by a known and respected luthier (Shuker, ACG, Sei etc.) then maybe 2k might be not crazy high. But for all we know it could be a far eastern replacement (probably not). It'd be good to know why all these changes happened, where the new parts came from and who assembled it. With that, the price might be more understandable. I think asking 4.5k for it as it sits regardless of who did what is a joke.
  24. I still don't see the value at that price. The only wood thats maybe from 62 is the maple part of the neck. £2250 would be a price I genuinely think would be a huge struggle to sell it for as it sits. I can see this being sold and not long after being resold elsewhere with less of a description and still claiming it to be a '62. At least BD have been honest in their description, though in the title they definitely should make it clearer.
