1. not hard to tell which is which by looking at which is being played, is it?
2. Depends on the venue, the acoustics on stage, the supporting PA, if any.....too many variables to comment really.
3. ROLL UP ROLL UP get your tickets here: http://www.eeetickets.com/tickets/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=SAD+LOVERS
4. My band will be playing a very rare UK gig on Sunday October 12th at The Lexington London N1 Tickets are selling FAST!!
5. just seen this thread - do I have time to do one?
6.
, as the Squier brand now is [snip] associated with cheapness!
Hasn't that ALWAYS been the case?
7.
One other thing, when intonating it, I had to take the saddles as far back as they would go to get it intonation right. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal for a 35" scale?
it's fretless - what difference would it make?
8. what wood?
9.
So all in all I'm very glad to be in an originals band, where the 'right' bassline is the one that I play.
That is knda what I was trying to say. I doubt if I play any bassline more than a few times the same way before it changes - as do most musicians in original bands. The 'original' is just what they happened to play that day - doesn't make it the 'best' or even match what they might have played the following week.
10.
Don't get obsessed with playing exactly the original bassline.
What is the original bassline? It is just the version of the bass line that was played when the track was recorded. My band's lines are in a constant state of evolution. I suspect this to be true of most bands. There is no right and wrong bassline..
11. No wedding is complete without "They're coming to take me away" - Napoleon XIV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnzHtm1jhL4
12. Agreed I'd be annoyed if I'd been hunting this JV and some bleeding heart had filled in the seller so that it was withdrawn. why would you? What business is it of your's? Killjoy
13.
Can any of you fellow Genz head owners compare how much your power cable housings move when you take the power leads out?
Shuttle 9.2 here - doesn't move at all.
14. The neck has just arrived Crappy iPhone pic attached... let's get building
15. Tried the Bullet Cable out last night. It is superb. I expected it to feel really heavy but I don't even notice it's there...unlike the Fender Gold lead I've been using for the last couple of years which would get tangled in my feet or round my leg. I got the transparent 30foot coil and it looks ultra retro....the rest of the band asked if I was planning on joining a glam rock tribute band ha Ha
16. should've been a public poll does this forum do those?
17. Which box should I tick? x I've got one - it's a cab innit? it does what it says on the tin
18.
That really sounds fantastic. Yesterday i was listening to Debussy's Complete Piano Music on cd but to sit in room with someone playing something like that on a Sunday afternoon is a bit mind blowing to me. Brilliant.
it got a bit tedious when he played the same pieces week in and week out, sometimes several times over. I wish I'd stuck at piano but I gave it up as my teacher creeped me out - he was bent as a nine bob note and sat too close if you get my drift...I was a mere boy of 9 or 10 at that time and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
19.
surely there must be some Dads out there that were into The Clash, Joy Division etc.
I'm a dad - do I count? My dad is into classical and opera - he has hundreds of classical albums! He would play piano all afternoon on a Sunday - Chopin, Grieg and Debussey mostly
20.
I'm still dubious if 2 x 12" BF Compacts could do similar. Call me old skool!
I can definitely feel the bass from my Super 12T [2x12" in the one box] - and I don't have to crank my GB Shuttle 9.2 past 12 o'clock to get my organs shaking - at 3 o'clock it feels like it could do some permanent damage. I suspect 2 x 12" compacts would feel much the same.
21.
Only place I've seen black anodized pickguards is on WD music and the shipping is the same as the pickguard itself! Any know where to get one in UK? Or anyone that could make one for me? Cheers guys!
Phone WD UK they've offered to get stuff in from their US place for me before - far more reasonable on cost
22. My choice? The tip with both of them. I'll stick with my GB Shuttle 9.2 900W head and Barefaced S12T 2 x 12" for all situations thanks.
23.
I don't think I've ever seen a P bass neck that wasn't maple
never seen a status necked P?
24. Just got me a Bullet Cable 30ft coil. It's a chunky mutha.....will test it out for the first time tomorrow night. The Fender gold cable I normally use would often twist and get in the way, great though it is, it can get very annoying.
25. Never broken one yet in over 30 years. I normally have a spare set of strings with me just in case though.
