1. Not long now....
2.
We had a HA3500 for a while - it was great. Only reason we replaced it was because we got a Hiwatt DR205, which is heavy and cumbersome to carry around..! We still have the Hartke as a spare, of course. It's our 'lightweight' option.
Mine was in a wooden box.....compared to my Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 it was big, heavy and awkward to carry!
3. I don't know any hartke haters. I had a HA3500 for a while - it was great. Only reason i replaced it was because it was so heavy and cumbersome to carry around.
4. d'Addario half rounds are the way to go - feel of flats but brighter
5. Is this still for sale? I already have one combined with a S12T - but am contemplating going for a 2 head rig!
6. not hard to tell which is which by looking at which is being played, is it?
7. Depends on the venue, the acoustics on stage, the supporting PA, if any.....too many variables to comment really.
8. ROLL UP ROLL UP get your tickets here: http://www.eeetickets.com/tickets/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=SAD+LOVERS
9. My band will be playing a very rare UK gig on Sunday October 12th at The Lexington London N1 Tickets are selling FAST!!
10. just seen this thread - do I have time to do one?
11.
, as the Squier brand now is [snip] associated with cheapness!
Hasn't that ALWAYS been the case?
12.
One other thing, when intonating it, I had to take the saddles as far back as they would go to get it intonation right. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal for a 35" scale?
it's fretless - what difference would it make?
13. what wood?
14.
So all in all I'm very glad to be in an originals band, where the 'right' bassline is the one that I play.
That is knda what I was trying to say. I doubt if I play any bassline more than a few times the same way before it changes - as do most musicians in original bands. The 'original' is just what they happened to play that day - doesn't make it the 'best' or even match what they might have played the following week.
15.
Don't get obsessed with playing exactly the original bassline.
What is the original bassline? It is just the version of the bass line that was played when the track was recorded. My band's lines are in a constant state of evolution. I suspect this to be true of most bands. There is no right and wrong bassline..
16. No wedding is complete without "They're coming to take me away" - Napoleon XIV http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnzHtm1jhL4
17. Agreed I'd be annoyed if I'd been hunting this JV and some bleeding heart had filled in the seller so that it was withdrawn. why would you? What business is it of your's? Killjoy
18.
Can any of you fellow Genz head owners compare how much your power cable housings move when you take the power leads out?
Shuttle 9.2 here - doesn't move at all.
19. The neck has just arrived Crappy iPhone pic attached... let's get building
20. Tried the Bullet Cable out last night. It is superb. I expected it to feel really heavy but I don't even notice it's there...unlike the Fender Gold lead I've been using for the last couple of years which would get tangled in my feet or round my leg. I got the transparent 30foot coil and it looks ultra retro....the rest of the band asked if I was planning on joining a glam rock tribute band ha Ha
21. should've been a public poll does this forum do those?
22. Which box should I tick? x I've got one - it's a cab innit? it does what it says on the tin
23.
That really sounds fantastic. Yesterday i was listening to Debussy's Complete Piano Music on cd but to sit in room with someone playing something like that on a Sunday afternoon is a bit mind blowing to me. Brilliant.
it got a bit tedious when he played the same pieces week in and week out, sometimes several times over. I wish I'd stuck at piano but I gave it up as my teacher creeped me out - he was bent as a nine bob note and sat too close if you get my drift...I was a mere boy of 9 or 10 at that time and it made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
24.
surely there must be some Dads out there that were into The Clash, Joy Division etc.
I'm a dad - do I count? My dad is into classical and opera - he has hundreds of classical albums! He would play piano all afternoon on a Sunday - Chopin, Grieg and Debussey mostly
