How do I get tone knob on my Precision to actually do something?
Twigman replied to thebrig's topic in General Discussion
Those of you who are gettng a lot of range, have they been modified in any way?
My JV-P not modified at all andthe tone knob has a massive range. My green warmoth made myself - i used an orange drop .047mf capacitor in it - it has massive range My yellow warmoth has a John East P-retro in it but the passive tone knob has massive range -
Does anyone here have an Eastwood Airline Map 34? I got looking at the Eastwood website this morning and am taken by this bass - it looks like a prop for a Gerry Anderson puppet feature. The spec says it has a chambered mahogany body. Mahogany is usually heavy but of course chambered bodies are naturally light. If anybody has one could they tell me how much one might weigh, what the balance is like and what kind of neck profile they have, please?

On all 3 of my Ps there is an enormous difference in tone between each end of the knob's movement with everything in between on the way. Even with flats! You've either got the wrong capacitor or no capictor in there. -
I have a red bass too... no young ladies come up to me.... maybe I need a hat....
I used to have a red bass and got no interest from the ladies. Since changing to a yellow bass I find I am beating them off with it.

60's looking basses- Can anyone recommend one? thanks
Twigman replied to highwayone's topic in Bass Guitars
I so wish I hadn't visited Eastwood guitar's website now. Why do I do this to myself? i am trying to justify not spending the £679 on one of those Thunderbirds props.......and I can't. I'm gonna be very poor very soon. -
She was obviously only trying to make conversation with you so you could ask her for her number.........and you blew it! Twice!!!!!!!!
next year will it be third time lucky?

Will you read Morrissey's Penguin Classic in the making?
Twigman replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
I just read a bit of it on Amazon. I am appalled that Morrissey seems to have used American spellings for words such as centre, glamour and colour. Disappointing. -
The amount of times I turn up for a jam and the guitarist has written a bunch of stuff that doesn't conform to any structure or key signature, "Who needs theory when it sounds cool man"... ... Coincidentally these are also the bands that only want you to play root notes....
We do a lot like that but rarely stick to roots.....our guitarist often 'tries' to communicate with theory...last night he was trying to work out which key a new middle8 is in...I said that it doesn't really have a key and he conceded defeat...so what key would a passage that went D,up to A, up to Bb,down to D#, upto A, down to C#, up to G, down to D through F and E be in???? whoops I've just given away our latest middle8..
I can hear the tune in my head. I then work out how to play it on whatever instrument I'm currently using.
What he said.....unless the tune is a rhythm and the instrument is drums - in which case I haven't got a hope in hell
Yakima do a roof rack.
Yakima are not officially imported into UK and their US website no longer sells feet for the GT86/BRZ/FR-S
You can then get a roof box big enough for the cab...
I very much doubt it No - it goes in through the door with the back seats folded - that'll do me. I'll just have to make sure I don't have to use it on nights when i take the kids back to their Mum's ...that does seem to happen from time to time

"When using a pick you should only use down strokes" - advice given to me when I first started to play....I tried for years but realised it was bollocks - I play only with fingers now so it was irrelevant anyway
-
I did some research today at Steven Eagell in MK. My S12T refused to get into the boot however it was simple to put it in through the door onto the folded down rear seat. The only thing stopping me ordering one now is the wait for my house sale to complete.......expected completion date is next Friday - I can't believe the self control I have exercised in actually waiting until that is done before ordering... Can't fit a towbar to the GT86 in UK
Looks good Twigman....what will it be powering?
Just a tuner, a chorus and a compressor - a tiny board
Ummm, but what what if you need to charge it overseas? :-/ Si
Firstly, we only go for one or two gigs at a time. when I say I wouldn't need to take a UK to EU converter I meant to the gig. I always have one in my hotel to charge my phone and my toothbrush. So the pedals can be recharged in the hotel and there's less to take to the venue.(and remember to take back to the hotel after ) Not all EU converters plug securely into some of the plugboards provided at venues for mains power. Twice I have had the mains power to my pedals disconnect during gigs.

It has arrived and is charging on my desk via my laptop.
I already have a 2nd gen Super12T but i really can't help but want a Big Baby 2!!!
Me too -
...you get one from GAK?
No, Thomann - it's cheaper , in stock, but not here yet. I am getting this for my Nano 'fly away board' It means I do not need to remember to take a UK to EU converter which IME aren't the best at remaining plugged in throughout a gig. I also find that the stages we play overseas are generally quite large and I often find the board a long way from a mains outlet. It reduces the amount of cabling to trip over or come unplugged.

Anyone bought anything from Musicians Friend in US?
Twigman replied to Twigman's topic in General Discussion
Did you pay the import duty up front? If not, an unpleasant surprise may await you; or if you did pay it, maybe an even more unpleasant surprise!
Yes VAT and duty paid upfront. No bill on delivery. I have imported plenty of stuff from USA but never before paid the VAT and duty upfront like this. It works. One thing I will say though is that Musicians Friend/Borderfree (the International shippers) could improve their communications significantly. -

Well it has arrived. I am now the proud owner of a Gig Skinz DGMS small mixer/utility bag so I can carry my Shuttel 9.2 around in style and comfort. Couldn't find any in UK - the DBMS yes but not the more nicely (IMHO) finished DGMS. Paid a few quid over the odds 9 days end to end. -
OK couldn't wait - I've just ordered one. Review to follow once I've charged it, fitted it and exhausted it.

Anyone got one yet? I see they've been out a month now. I am wondering how long they last, how durable they seem and how long they take to charge? At £89 it seems frightfully dear for what is merely a rechargeable battery Anyone?
