This isn't just me being biased towards Ashdown - but I really wouldn't bother with the Fender.

Sure the cab can handle 450w but the head won't put anywhere near that through it.

[*][b]Hohner Arbor Precision[/b] 1985ish - Bought by my Dad from a pawn shop for £40, since rewired and setup - sounds fantastic ! He's got it at the moment but said he'll get bored of it soon as it's mine (he plays guitar). Weighs a tonne and the neck is HUGE, but it's solid as a rock. [/list]

Yes it would require an ext cab to get the full rating of the amplifier. On it's own it'd be about 200w. That said - my ABM300 with a MAG210 cab runs at 8ohms too and I don't need to crank it.

What I mean is you don't need an allen key. An alley key will work in the same way the screwdriver does above, there is no need for it to be hexagonal.

Don't really need one at all ! Anything thin enough and metallic should do the job, i've used a screwdriver in the past. See this pic courtesy of google:

You could have a line out from your hifi headphone socket to the input of the head.. impedence should be close enough. I've used my amp as an MP3 player by doing the same.

I used my old EB180-12 with my existing MAG210 and it was great. Never did experience issues with 'mismatched drivers' . Here's a pic of it i've dug out..

Fender will for a long time run off their reputation. I don't think there's many people who will pretend that Fender are 'up there' in the industry as far as quality and value for money is concerned. The fact that you see them being played by most bands on TV means they will always be the bass to desire for kids who want to learn.

Looks like they only want the margins to go one way..

I played with both in PMT Birmingham a few weeks ago, preferred the BTB for looks and SR for feel :wacko:.
