  1. I think that's half deliberate. It's supposed to be a bloke sitting down and playing along with the radio. Don't know if this counts 'cos it was post-recording, but there's an absolutely terrible edit in Eric Claption's Blues Power, just after 1:25.
  2. The same as I used for 6000-seater arena 😄
  3. ...while this man flings stats:
  4. I would counter this by saying Chromes are on the bright side for flats, whereas the GHS and La Bellas are more 'Normal'. To the OP, the main thing to bear in mind with any flats is to give them time. They feel weird at first until they bed in. Give them a good old rub with an old t-shirt at first. That helps.
  5. Nathan East, who I assume recorded it whilst having a shower without actually knowing which song it was.
  6. Not even slightly... it sounds SO good set flat. It's a hell of a tone stack.
  7. Ahem... Handbox R-400.
  8. I could be mischievous and say in that case it was the ‘decent ear’ bit that didn’t meet the criteria, but I won’t 😄
  9. Out of curiosity - why did you have to tune the vocal? Was it a lack of time, or effort? Or was the singer lacking in actual talent?
  10. Dave Wilson. Good enough for Mark Knopfler…
  11. Gah! We're stuck in a time machine! Time for...
  12. The Brian Johnson one is a treat.
  13. Jamerson and Babbit would like a quiet word…
  14. Just listened to that - it’s painful. Love the way the put it front-and-centre of the interview. That’ll teach her.
  15. Ah yes - I remember now.
  16. Ah, my main head is the A/B one.
  17. Thank you 🙂 I've never used an outboard compressor in my little signal chain. So if I'm down the Dog'n'Duck without PA support, it is what it is, and people seem to like it. If there's a PA, it'll undoubtedly get compressed and that's fine. Gernerally speaking I'll DI from my amp, but at bigger gigs I'll go Bass > DI box > amp, so if something breaks, it ain't my fault 😄
  18. Remind me… what did he say about Croz..?
  19. There’s an optical limiter (not sure if that’s what you’re referring to) but I rarely - if ever - hit that limit. That said, regardless of head, I’ve never knowingly used compression in a backline-only situation.
  20. I've never used one down the Dog'n'Duck, and a no point have I thought I'd need one.
  21. So at the time of typing, you had heard of her..? 😄
  22. It’ll take you two seconds to Google her…!
  23. It’s a shame when the likes of Alison Krause become obsessed with it.
  24. I doubt this will be a surprise to anyone on BC…
  25. Understood. From my perspective it's not limited to singers. Clicks, for example. I get that drummers might need to use one for practical purposes, to sync a production, to enable tracking, or just because that's the feel that's required. But there's kind of an assumption there that the dummer can keep time in the first place. Guitarist using a harmoniser? Same as a above. It's a colour. And, believe me, as a non-guitarist, it wouldn't help if I played it. I'm man enough to admit I'm now in the Tommy Saxondale 'dinosaur' category. I was brought up in an environment where people would get together to sing and play, and the joy would come from the human element of it, and everyone being responsible for their own input. Those moments seem less and less important these days, but time marches on (perfectly on the beat).
