1. The only thing that bugged me a little about the 1126 is that it's squat, like the Berg 12s and Aggie DBs, so it's firing at your calves. Not a problem with a pair (that would sound massive..!) but if it was my main single cab, I'd get one in vertical configuration.
2. Cool...thanks, Mr. Conan! I think an EQ tweak would have worked wonders on the 1126. I actually found it to be the opposite... very wide, with a big, open low end.
3.
I don't play a six string, so keep that in mind. But, I do have a pair of W2126, and I have heard most of the TKS cabs The speakers with the extra 6 for mids and highs are more full range in sound. Not everybody's cup of tea, but personally I would have gone for a 1126.
Based on what I've heard, i'd agree with this. Drop Tommy a line - he'll give you the lowdown...
4.
Please stop... Eude
Sorry :-)
5.
Midlands trial at all?
I'll suggest it to Tommy - see what the new year brings. Here's a pr0n shot from Saturday night. I swear to god... running both of these cabs together - which I don't get to do very often - is nirvana.
6. Thankfully there's a rich tradition up here of folk with electric bass. And songs. And dynamics. And middle eights. We're almost unique. :-)
7.
Shurely shum mishtake?!
Apparently not, but who knows?
8.
Forgot to say guys n gals I'm in Ashington Northumberland.(urh guys n gals...sounds like that disgusting think jimmy slavers) regards steve
Eshitten? Welcome aboard!
9. By the way, here are some pics of a Fender-endorsed '59 prototype. Presumably, Herbie's followed this... Yep - it has a Precision decal...
10. Ah, it was a general comment aimed at lots of people, Clarky. It wasn't a direct reply to you.. honest! As for your boxer shorts, if they have a skunk stripe, they're definitely 2012. :-D
11. 'Herbie Flowers says he bought it on that date, so that's all there is to it' is never going to be the start and end of the discussion. People are passionately interested in the origins of basses like this, so they / we want to talk about them and analyse them. Just like the analysis of a billion other topics across the internet every day...
12.
That's a pretty black/white statement from him there. I bought the bass on Oct. 12, 1959. So what's the suggestion from the doubters here? Is he a bit confused? Is he a liar? What?
I can't accurately recall what I did last week, never mind 55 years ago...
13. I'm sceptical about this one, too...
14. No problem - I'll add you to the list. :-)
15. Yeah - me too. My trusty ipod is of similar vintage...
16. I might be looking at this a little simplistically, but surely there is only a case to answer if promises are broken and cabs are taking longer to arrive than agreed?
17. I knew you lot would spout puns as bad as this.
18. Yip - I've always referred to them as kettle leads.
19. I would never expect a used amp to come with one, and I would probably forget to include one if I sold an amp on (just ask Beedster... he'll confirm I've done it before!). I'd have to remind myself to do it. I have a couple of heavy-duty cables which are 'my' cables. Any others (usually cheap) I pick up along the way go straight into my cables box, and get forgotten about.
20. Oooh - it's Blackbird. Presumably it's not the room Rush did Clockwork Angels in, 'cos that sounds cack.
21.
Here is an example of a band all in one room doing tracks in one full take, that sounds frankly incredible:-
That is quite awesome.
22.
I also think that some of the other band members went into the studio without an exact idea of what they were going to do, so spent a bit of time experimenting.
And there you have it... One to chalk up to experience maybe, but next time make sure everyone has a clear idea of what's required. Experimenting in the studio is for people with deep pockets (or their own studio).
23. Cheers, Tom.. glad you liked it!
24.
Another good read is Inside Out by Nick Mason.
Oh, aye - forgot about that one. A great read. Chapter & Verse (Genesis) is a good'un, too.
