1. My Maruszczyk's are around 7.2lbs each. Both play & sound like great P's should, and have no neck-dive at all.
2. Ah.. cheers, everyone. It is warm-hearted, and I'm glad that comes across. It's a genuine celebration of live music. And Hooky was lovely, not anything like as prickly as I'd expected. The whole production team have been completely pro throughout. FWIW, the kitchen bit was recorded via a single - very nice - mic in the room. I'm using my little Ibanez Promethan combo. The gig at the Sheffield Leadmill was DI & a mic'd Ampeg fridge. Flats all the way :-) The final is on BBC2 a week tonight.
3. Thank you! A lot of people have mentioned our cunning choice of cover - truth is, we'd lined it up before we knew where the gig was going to be. Pure serendipity :-)
4. Here 'tis on iPlayer... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07f2hmw
5. Thanks, folks! The adventure continues :-)
6.
Are those from the DI again? In any case, nice job, as usual.
Thanks for the kind comments, Charlie - I'm still learning all the time! And yes, it's the DI.
Great demo again WoT. The amp sounds a lot more HiFi to my ear compared to the first HandBox amp, equally nice though, just different. I'd be keen to see/hear the Dual Channel Class D amp they've got coming too, although I am starting to think that I'm not going to be happy with anything bar solid state these days... As far as your demos go, I agree, it's so much better to hear something familiar and repetitive to get a real feel for how something sounds and how it compares to others. There's nothing worse than a demo for an amp where the player just shows off making it impossible to actually figure out how the gear in question actual sounds in real life. Keep it up man, don't let the haters get you down Cheers, Ewan
I would agree - it seems a lot more SS-sounding, but that might well be because I had the input pretty low. I need to spend more time with it, but someone has just picked it up to have a go of it.
7. Here's an article which gives a bit of background to how it came about... http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/tom-willis/uks-best-parttime-band_b_10394152.html
8. Same for our network - also Cisco. Just started happening this morning.
9. Cheers, Raggy! I actually get quite a few sarky comments from people via YouTube about the playing being boring, etc. But like you, I like to hear stuff in situ, so I'm sticking to my guns :-)
10. I made a couple of clips with the Red Fighter this morning. I know, it's the same track over and over again, but it's the only thing I know how to play.... :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTTUiMUjsdk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qT9ooqfVI0
11.
My current band is called Velcro Pelmet, so no.
OMG really? There's a band called Velcro Pelmet up near Alnwick, too..!
12.
How is Howard getting on? I seem to remember hearing he wasn't too well?
He wasn't but all seems well now. And he's playing like a demon :-)
13.
Was that at The Tyne?
That's the one!
14. Oh, and I took the R-400 to a jam night in Newcastle last night. BC's very own Bass Doc used it on a few tunes, and he was impressed. I got a chance to hear it out front, at a decent whack, through a vintage Fender 2x15 and it was marvellous...
15. The plot I've posted above is for the R-400 - I've just realised you're asking about the Red Fighter. I'll get some details from Leszek about the RF...
16. One of the worst offenders for dropped beats, although I totally understand why they have to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFtMYevHeXQ
17. Here's some clips from this coming Friday's episode... http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07f2hmw/clips
18.
I could certainly get more bass ("Thump"? "Heft"? "Oomph"?) from my amp and cabs if I wanted to,
That's the thing - when I think of 'heft'. I'm not thinking about bass. It's a solid, low-mid backbone. It's all so confusing :-)
19. He doesn't care. He just likes being a bully.
20.
Sorry if I've missed this further up the thread, but how much do these retail for? I might be interested in trying this out at some point if that's ok. Do you know what frequencies the two switchable mid controls are set at?
I'm not sure about the exact frequencies - this chart should give an idea: There's no harm dropping Leszek an email if you want more specifics - he's been very helpful with his responses to me. As for price, I think 700EUR, but I guess that might change depending on your choice of case, etc. And you're welcome to borrow it when you're up here next. :-)
21.
Wasn't that this one: http://basschat.co.u...es/page__hl__tv ?
That's for a different show - I think it was this one: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/270475-bbc-show-looking-for-best-part-time-band/
22. There's a summary at the bottom of this page.
23.
Loving the look of these, the simplicity reminds me of the little bastard. Don't suppose anyone around London has one and willing to let me try it out do they...?
Gary Mac has one (see other HandBox thread). I believe he's west of the big city, but I don't know if that's anywhere near you...?
24.
At the end of the day, can there ever be a "best" at anything related to music? It's all so subjective after all.
I think that's the crux of it (and Midge's comments, too). It's just a bit of entertainment really, and a reminder to a nation that's largely force-fed X-Factor's Got Talent that there's a huge scene out there ready to discover.
25.
That's like wot I do. And it sorted out the bass sound on the Led Zep O2 DVD too. Just playing that DVD through the tele on it's own sounded like JPJ had stayed at home.
It still does when I listen to it on my system - JPJ is almost MIA. The only bass I can hear is the P on In My Time Of Dying...!
