1. Fab, isn't it? It's generally regarded to be the real deal...
2. It's been a while since we talked about this one. It's come up for air again... https://www.instagram.com/p/BHTWEaUDfi6/
3. ...he's just dropped me a note on FB to say shipping to NZ will be around 150EUR. Drop him a message at the weekend if you'd like any more info. :-)
4.
That.
Them.
5.
Hmmm... I've emailed HandBox twice now to acertain what they will charge to freight an R-400 to New Zealand, and no reply. Not very good in the PR dept methinks. I see they use FedEx, and I believe FedEx to be quite expensive, hence I need to see if it's gonna be worth it, or not.
Leszek is on holiday at the moment. He's back this weekend, I think...
6. I had no idea Raven Labs and SWR were one in the same! I had a Raven Labs P preamp. It was fab.
7. It's been quietly whisked off to Fender's brand gulag, I guess...
8. Hey gang Leszek's just sent me pics of the new M Bass 500 lightweight head. I don't know anything about it at the mo, but I thought I'd share...
9.
Great player!! I know he's left handed, but it looked to me like he also had his bass strung 'upside down', or is it just my eyes?!!
It's not your eyes...
10. He's an awesome player. I saw him with Hackett, and he nailed the Rutherford thing. And he looked like he was having loads of fun.
11.
Total cack. Like The Archers.
Absolutely.
12. Yep, I'm guessing by 'guitar bands', tho OP means not function bands, or background music, or what-have-you.
13. I'm watching Lincoln at the the minute, the film with Daniel Day Lewis in it. It's very good, but I imagine if they remade it with the cast referring to their scripts throughout, it would be pretty cack.
14. FWIW, none of the bands I play with, either regularly or in dep form, have charts. Hopeless drummer? Different thing entirely. Run away!
15. I strongly recommend you check these out...
16. *warning - predictable post alert* I'm through with Fender now. I got exactly what I wanted from Maruszczyk for around the cost of an off-the-shelf Fender. I reckon this gorgeous pair would have totalled £6000+ if I'd gone down the Fender CS route, and even then I probably wouldn't have had as much control over the spec.
17.
(Geordie accent) You wouldn't let it lie, would'ya?
Teesside, actually....
18. Beautiful! Welcome aboard, Gary - good luck with the sale.
19. I'll pick a bass up and plunk every day. Usually it's just noodling, but at the minute I've got loads coming up so it's more structured.
20. Your homepage needn't be cluttered, but for the sake of you, your visitors and Google, it needs: - Who you are - What you do - Where you're based - Are you any good? (a nice, big quote from someone) - Details of the next gig or two - A decent photo You should be able to say all this in not many words.
21. Unlike the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, which looked and sounded like dinosaurs, but still seemed a little bit lightweight. Still, given that it was difficult sourcing real dinosaurs, they were a decent compromise.
22.
Fancy a trip down to the Blues Bar at Harrogate tonight?
As it happens, I'm in Harrogate tomorrow to meet some friends. Can't get there tonight, though!
23. I've got nothing this weekend, so if anyone in the Newcastle area would like to borrow the R-400, let me know...
24.
I was visiting my family down in Colchester the other month and happened to pop into a music shop with my 18 year-old niece. This particular shop had a very impressive stock list, and several interesting and high end basses. I pulled one such a bass off the wall to have a pluck - a Suhr Jazz - and, horrified, turned to my niece to point out the huge crack in the varnish that, I presumed, must have resulted from some heavy-handed numpty dropping it before. Mortified, I turned to the Shop Assistant to tell him what I'd noticed. Response - it's supposed to be like that, that's the 'antiqued' version of the bass. I was gobsmacked - seriously, would anyone pay nearly £2.5k for a bass that's deliberately had its finish cracked?! You couldn't even say it was 'road worn', it just had a cracked finish FFS!!!
Relicing has been done to death (pun half-intended). Just sayin'.
