  1. I can probably count on one hand the amount of times I've genuinely thought 'I wish I was at home with a takeaway watching the telly'. I don't rely on the cash. It's handy, but I'd genuinely do it just for the crack.
  2. I like them too, but.. more sparingly.
  3. A month down the line and it's in with a bullet at #1, and stayed there. It's gorgeous. Here's a clip from this afternoon...
  4. I believe George disliked the part - he thought it was too busy. I agree with him, but many (most?) don't....
  5. Ha ha.. I hate it. It's such a polarising bass part...!
  6. A palm-muted P with flats will sound great. Anything other than an upright is basically sacrilege, so there's no point bothering with an acoustic bass 'cos it won't get you any additional credibility points and won't give you any tonal advantage.
  7. That's where the old-school mute used to live. A real example here...
  8. Ped engineered all this, 'cos he knows a good old-fashioned Mod scrap makes for good content.
  9. I'd lose, unless one of the other two doesn't even bother playing the 5th.
  10. May I humbly suggest a thread rename to 'Bass Guitar show review 2019 - only if you were there, please!' ..and I'm not being sarcastic.
  11. Time to hit the merge button, maybe? 😄
  12. It is what it is. Why's this thread under such scrutiny?
  13. BC threads frequently expand on the original subject matter, and drift OT. What's different about this one, I wonder?
  14. A rather extreme interpretation, I think..?
  15. I agree 100%.
  16. FWIW, it was initially people sharing their thoughts. It only turned into bickering when objections were raised.
  17. Until it violates any rules, it's whatever the populace of BC want it to be.
  18. The LBGS isn't a charity. It's a commercial venture, and like any other people are free to venture an opinion on it.
  19. I think anyone involved with the show would be foolish to discount the opinions (perceptions?) of those who chose not to go.
  20. OK - on second listen, I’ll concede that it’s maybe an unsympathetic mix. In any event, it made me switch it off fairly quick, and I love the tune.
  21. A little closer to home for me, but Lindisfarne had a single founder member for a couple of years recently, but he retired and his place was taken by another original founder member. It's going well for them - they're having a bit of a live resurgence.
  22. Absolutely - that's what I'm getting at, really :-)
  23. Of course. Personally speaking, I've never been to one of these because I imagine the noise is just relentless, and it's a long way to travel to not be able to hear anything. If the organisers could guarantee some sort of noise management, I'd definitely come along.
