  3. Hi Gang My band, Dropzone will be playing Nu metal covers and a couple of originals at the Admiral Drake, Mile End Road, Portsmouth on Friday 25 February. This is a relaunch of the band with our new guitarist after six months off due to injury. Would ge great to say hi to a few fellow bassers. I have included a copy of our set list. See how many of the bands you can guess? Winner gets the chance to buy me a pint at the gig or to get up and play Mustang Sally with the band ;-) Ta Mike LAST RESORT LAND OF CONFUSION SUGAR GOING DOWN TEENAGE DIRTBAG – SMOOTH CRIM / BEAT IT NO-ONE KNOWS SO LONG IN THE END TAKE A LOOK AROUND HEAD LIKE A HOLE ZOMBIE WEEPING SORE PHSYCOSOCIAL CHOP SUEY BODIES FREAK ON A LEASH VODOO PEOPLE BREAKSTUFF DUALITY SABOTAGE BRICK IN THE WALL
  4. It is possible but choose your venues wisely. We play slipknot, korn, limp bizkit but we do save it for the second set. We play more palletable stuff in the first set and then wallop them in the second. We only play venues that will accept what we are willing to play. We did the whole playing what the audience wants to hear but that made us just an average pub band. We were no longer happy to sacrifice too much. However we still do a couple of numbers that kill me slowly inside to keep the punters on side, so you have to pay the piper to some extent!

    Raggy

Bought a strap from raggy. Great condition, great price, fast delivery and great communication. Many thanks Mike
  6. Interested in the love hate strap. If you are willing PM me your paypal adress and confirm the amount. Thanks Mike
  7. I try and break songs down into other songs that I know better even if it is for just a chord change / preogression. Eg from a start point if I am dropping 4 frets then 5 then up 7 then I remember it as Alone by Heart or sometimes doctor doctor by UFO. Or From a start point drop 5 up 2 down 4 is with or without you by U2 etc etc. Just my way ;-)
  8. OK I'll take the bait For a million pounds I would let Gary Glitter play with me!!! Almost everyone has their price but it is different for all of us on different days. If I was skint and needed cash to pay the rent then I would do most anything. If I was flush then I would hold out for what I wanted. Just my tuppence ;-)
  9. Interested in at least one if you ever head towards the south coast (Southampton - Brighton)? I don't have much call to go to Wales ;-) Ta Mike
  10. The Jeff Berlin has low and high filters, although I am not sure what they do, I just twidle until they sound ok. We do go down very low for some tracks. I am just waiting for a brief cash flow to clear then I will be in touch. Is there a current waiting list? Ta Mike
  11. Yes, just down the road in Sunny Bognor. Essentially when tuned to A there is just a wallow of sub bass and clarity or punch. Do you have somewhere where I could bring my combo and try your range out? I suspect the answer may be a new amp as well but would like to try with the JB first. Ta Mike
  12. I think I am getting resigned that my Jeff Berlin Combo on its own is not loud enough for gigs, provide clear lows and have the tone I want (But this may be due to the lack of volume). So my question is if I were to go barefaced with the Jeff, which one should I go for and is it likely to give me a good overall sound? Thanks Mike
  13. The bass is not outputting as much volume as my other basses, but playability wise it is my weapon of choice. I am having to really crank the volume on the amp when compared to even my passive bass? Thanks Mike
  14. I am not gettting the tone volume out of my K5 that I should be. I have tried a new battery but this has not improved anything. Anyone got any suggestions or know anyone on the South Coast who has an understanding of guitar electricery? Thanks Mike
  15. Had a most excellent time on Saturday. The day went far too quick though. Special thanks to Johnny Lager for having a look at my Rockbass Vampyre and making it much more playable. Really properly enjoyed myself and can't wait for the next one. Sadly, I discussed the day and how important decent compression is with my boss this morning, so something must have sunk in. Many thanks to all, particularly those who presented for such a great day. Mike
  16. Will definately try and get down for this. If you are putting on any more, would love to play with you guys. Check us out at www.dropzone-band.com We are just along the coast at Bognor Regis. Cheers Mike
  17. Stunning, I would be well interested if it was 5 strings!!!!
  18. Only done that once and never doing it again. My band cancelled a gig last minute and I got some muso friends who I have never jammed with together. It was like watching a train crash and having your fingernails pulled out at the same time. The other bad one was when the singer insisted on playing a song that none of us had listened to. He was in a little world of his own living the dream, whilst the rest of us were in the very real world of living the nightmare!!!
  19. I am going to try and make this. If I get permission I will bring my Vampyre Rockbass and Korn K5 Fieldy. I will also try and bring my Jeff Berlin Combo and Line 6 Lowdown 300 with Mk2 shortboard. Hopefully someone can show me how to get a decent tone out of it ;-) You will recognise me as I will have a band (Dropzone) hoody on. Thanks Mike
  20. Don't suppose you would want to swap for a Yamaha RBX775 that has one significant bash and a modest amount of cash your way?
  21. Do you (or any of the chatters?) know if it would work with a Mark Bass Jeff Berlin Combo? I don't understand all this ohmage stuff? If so I'll have it. Thanks Mike
  22. Hi I'm interested in this. Is it still available? Ta Mike
