1. I have one of these as my reserve bass. Who did you get to do it (and where) as I have never been quite as happy with the sound as I believe others have been. Ta Mike
2. We normally have the three gig propbation period when either party can break things off with no bad feelings. After that someone walks without good reason there is bad blood as the band is as strong as family to me.
3. I agree. I also need the speakers for low volume rehearsals as well (with an electric kit)
4. It hurts me to say this but GAK are the cheapest for these with two plus a vibropad (that I think the missus will like) for £380. This is where my money will be going unless anyone knows somewhere cheaper. Can someone sort some discount for chatters at GAK??? Ta Mike
5. i am likely to be at the admiral drake on saterday to say goodbye to a local legend who is moving up north. good venue and great music and biker very friendly
6. That sounds quite complicated to me. Hopefully I will get that far, just want to get started and then look to build.
7. Thanks for the links. The HM80s are getting slightly better reviews due to the better bass response. Decisions decisions
8. I have two planet waves leads that don't work but no reciepts. Could you ask them to swap them for me ;-) Well done on the endorsement.
9. Yep stands makes sense. Will anything do or is there anything I should avoid There are enough good reviews of the Yams to give me confidence in buying blind, and they seem to go for around £200 - £250 for a pair and not need a woofer so they tick all the boxes. Looks like I missed a pair up in aberdeen, need to find some on the south coast ;-)
10. Thanks Urb Next time I am up in London I will give them a look. I am not after perfection more decent value for money. Still going to try and find some cheap Yams as if I don't get on with them I can always move them on. Ta Mike
11. Seen quite a few ads for truths which I take to mean several are unhappy with them. Shame as some behringer products are very good value.
12.
Tannoy reveal actives. HERE
They are well above my current budget. Look the business though!!!!
13. I have heard good things about the KRKs but they are heavy on the price. Don't want to spend bucket loads as I may be rubbish at recording. I will probably do my usual thing of waste loads of money on cheap stuff and then decide I need to spend on more expensive stuff. Still, it keeps me happy ;-)
14. Thanks for that. Been trying to email someone in Aberdeen on Gumtree, but they are not responding so I guess they have gone. Hey ho, back to the search ;-)
15. I work at County Hall next to the library. So happy to meet up if that is easier ;-) I actually live in Boxgrove but I doubt many on here will even be aware the place exists (and they are better off for it)
16. Hi I would be interested in having a read as really enjoy Squeeze. Bizarely my name is Mike and I live in Chi but I am not Chi Mike ??? Thanks Mike (Dropzone)
17. I am on the South Coast between Brighton and Portsmouth. May well be interested in the stands. I have an Alesis multimix desk so no need there. I have heard quilts are good as well and probably cheaper to buy new from Tesco's than second hand ;-) Like the idea of a sofa and was going to put one in the room anyway. Many thanks Mike
18. Have yet to look at the damping. Once I have the monitors and the room set out, that will be my next task. I am not sure which way I will go, but I know it will be cost related so as always I will be looking for best bang per buck ;-) I will check out the 50s and 80s and see which meets my needs. Many thnaks Mike
19. I have heard good things about the Yamaha's which are looking favourite at the moment. Will be in a big shed (6m x 4m) that will have damping stuff nailed to it but that is about it Thanks Mike
20. Hi Gang I am trying to set up a home studio. I have a desk, a computer, leads etc, but having tried some PC speakers, I realise I need to splash out on some reasonable monitors. Cash is a bit tight so looking to spend no more than £200 on something active. What would you guys recommend and what should I really stay away from. I will be recording metal and middle of the road rock and accoustic stuff. Many thanks in advance for your advice. Thanks Mike
21. I suppose the other thing is to remember is that an audition is like an interview. Not only are they making sure you are suitable, you are making sure they are suitable. If you get the offer, it doesn't mean you have to accept, or if you do accept you can make it on your terms. It would be interesting to know which band it is? Good luck
22. I would say go to the audition as you have learnt the songs but spell out that the communications so far have been poor. From what I can read you have only dealt with the manager not the guys you will be playing with, so they may be a great bunch of guys and the gig an absolute dream.
23. You should have told him that he obviously liked it and asked him if he wanted to buy it? And you could give him 10% off for cash.
