  1. One word of caution, if you like a longer strap you may need a longer version. This version/length is the absolute perfect length for me, but if you like your bass slung around your knees it probably won’t be.
  2. If somebody is in the fortunate position to spend a big chunk of money on a bass, fair play to them if they spend it on one that they can play and enjoy and will (at least) retain its value. We’re not talking about other investments, we’re talking about a bass. Yes Wals are still being made, but in the same way that a pre-cbs Fender is more desirable than a 2012 model, a Wal manufactured during the earlier period of company’s existence (signed by Ian or Pete) would I suggest be more desirable to many than one made last week.
  3. Aha. That would make sense. Many thanks 👍
  4. Ouch! That’s a shocker.
  5. Mine landed today and very nice it is too. Many thanks for the heads up 👍
  6. As a package for power, sound, size, weight and portability, BF Super Twins (or Super 12s) are pretty hard to beat imho.
  7. Bar stewards! I’ll keep my eyes and ears open.
  8. As has already been stated, I very much doubt it would ever run out of steam, but the sound may not be for everyone. I actually much prefer the sound of the Super 12/Twin to the compact both on stage and out front. On stage I thought the compact was loud but not in a particularly nice way. Out front the comments were that it sounded great.
  9. I’d add REM’s Belong to Orange Crush too
  10. I know you’ve said you don’t like leather straps, but a standard width leather strap with an ‘unfinished’ underside usually does the trick. Enough friction to stop neck dive but won’t tear the shirt off your back!
  11. Not me unfortunately. Got a notification, opened it up but by the time I’d looked at the photos- ‘sorry, you missed out on this item’ 😟
  12. I share the same annoyance with thicker straps. I don’t like leaving them attached to the bass, but some of them are so thick that they can take up more room than a small amp when rolled up! I like the look of that one. I may write a letter to Santa. Many thanks 👍
  13. I've gave mine a tweak when I bought it and then more recently I've lowered the action again (and changed the string gauge) to get it bang on as to how I like my basses. To be honest I've never bought a bass (new or used) that hasn't needed a tweak to get it exactly how I like them. I think there's a thread on here discussing the fact that everyone has their own idea of a decent set up and 'factory spec setups' are often a million miles away from how many players would like them set.
  14. I’m just looking into these as I think they would tick several of my boxes. They look and sound great. Cracking review, many thanks.
  15. This would make an ideal Christmas present for someone who needs an affordable, loud and portable cab. 🎄 🎅 ⛄️
  16. This is the same as mine (other than your case is painted and mine is tolex covered). These are fantastic amps. More power than you should ever need, versatile and superb build quality. Even using it flat (graphic out) it gives a superb tone for you to tweak just using the tone controls on your bass. Although 30 plus years old, mine is still the quietest running amp I’ve ever owned. Whoever gets this will not be disappointed. GLWTS.
  17. They certainly are pretty special. I’m spending a lot of time playing mine now (after a momentary lapse of reason thinking I needed a HH) and the more I play it, the more I love it. As you say, the EQ is so useable throughout the range and to me seems far more controlled than the 3 band on a std ‘ray.
  18. Speaking of which, am I the only one who absolutely loves the bass sound on Video Killed The Radio Star?
  19. Best of luck with whichever musical path you choose to take in the future 👍 I stopped playing several times, for several years each time. I agree with the earlier post that keeping the motivation to play bass without a band can be a struggle. I’m currently taking a forced sabbatical from playing in a band due to family reasons, but on this occasion I’m using the limited time I do still have available to study and practice, going back to re-educate myself on playing so that when I do eventually get back to playing with the band, I’ll be a better player.
  20. +1 to this. Many of the examples of this practice that I’ve heard have been truly horrific (Roy Orbison ‘I drove all night’ springs to mind). To make it worthwhile they have to make it sufficiently different to the original, but in making it sufficiently different the additions just sounds clumsy to my ears.
  21. Love Madness and was ‘mad’ on them when I was a kid. I’m pretty sure those high in the mix basslines were partly responsible for planting the love of bass in my head.
  22. Many thanks for the podcasts guys, really enjoyed them. The Wal discussion has ramped my gas for another up to dangerous levels 😍
  23. I used to be quite partial to Lion bars........ Does this constitute a breach of BC's 'No Trade Offers' law???
  24. Some interesting offers but currently still available. May now be interested in trading up for a Wal Mk1 Custom, 4 string, fretted (plus cash your way obviously) if anyone has one going.
  25. ...... and very soon after selling an amp to Emmett, I bought his old amp off him 😁 Faultless transaction yet again. Many thanks
