    Genz Benz Streamliner 900 - £300 collected or £320 posted mainland UK I bought this a couple of months back purely because it was such a bargain. However, I now have another amp incoming so this is back up for sale at the same snip of a price that I purchased it for. A lot of love for these heads and info on these hallowed pages but here’s the main blurb: • 900 Watts @ 4 ohms / 500 Watts @ 8 ohms • SMPS and Class D power amplifier design • Class A Six Stage Tube Preamp (3 x 12AX7A Tubes) • Modified Passive Baxandall EQ for the Lows and Highs • Active Tube Driven Mid EQ • Selectable 3-Position Mid Frequencies: 220, 600, 2.5K HZ • Input Mute • Hi Gain switch • Master Volume • Effects Loop • Headphone Input • Aux.     Thanks for the feedback guys, I've just ordered from PMT. I'm not actually gigging at the moment but I will be again at some point next year so I think it's time to semi-retire my ageing SMX (it's just had a major service but is getting a little noisy in it's old age).

    I've been toying with getting the ABM 600 rack mount version (currently £549 I believe). How would you compare the 4-Stroke to the ABM?

    Exactly this I suspect. I have two EBMM Sterlings one rosewood and one maple and have switched the necks purely for aesthetics. I will however swap them back to original guise when I come to sell either of them.

    Is anyone using or could recommend to me a power conditioner/extension for home use? I'm getting some major interference through my amp when home practicing. The mains power at home is a little unstable to say the least (lots of power cuts etc) and some recently added power line ethernet adaptors are only adding to the interference.     I played a black/rosewood Encore P throughout the nineties, mainly through a Peavey TNT and it was great. Played great and sounded great. If I was to go back now I may have a different view given 20 odd years experience of playing other basses but at the time they did the job perfectly well (and that’s before I knew how easy it was to purchase a solderless loom and change a pickup) 😁 EDIT - Sorry just realised this input adds absolutely nothing to the OP’s question 😞

    Arctic Monkeys anyone? Their debut album was full of humour and raw energy and since then they have seemed to be on the obligatory slide up their own behinds.. Fleetwood Mac - I love Peter Green’s FM and I also like some of the later stuff but tbh I look at the later version as a completely different band anyway.

    There are many members here who are enjoying the joys of old school ‘heavyweight’ amps (Trace in this case) paired with lightweight cabs. There are a few threads on the subject. I’ve had several Trace SMX heads (250, 350, 600) plus a few other TE heads (including a Hexavalve) and they have all sounded great with various Barefaced and TecAmp lightweight cabs. They don’t give ‘the’ sound that you get from some of the older heavyweight cabs, but they do make up for it in sheer volume, portability and superior sound dispersion (IMHO).

    Just out of interest (and without wishing to hijack the thread), how does the Mesa Carbine compare or fit in to the range with the WalkAbout and M-Pulse 600 heads?

    I'm not sure a Trace would fit the bill if the OP is looking for a valvey, driven type tone unless one of their V-Type heads were on the list. Their SMX heads are wonderful and have a pre-amp valve but it's extremely subtle (some would say it doesn't do much at all). It certainly doesn't give drive imho.

    Agreed. Great amps and his English is certainly better than my Polish, but it was the delays/lack of any communication that I found most disconcerting. ☹️

    I was on the lookout for something similar to the OP's needs and was seeking a used R-400. I didn't have any joy finding one used so was all set to purchase a new one. However, poor communication from Hand Box really hasn't inspired any confidence so I've decided to hang fire for now. I'll follow this thread with interest to see what alternatives are recommended.
