  1. Yet Bob seemed to have some sway with messrs Gilmour & Waters. I personally can’t stick the fella but each to their own I suppose.
  2. He’s right too. I’ve got a red 80’s strat with lace sensor pickups but it doesn’t sound much like Mr Gilmour when I play it 😂
  3. Another seamless transaction with Paddy, this time me selling. Prompt payment and great communication throughout. Many thanks
  4. Can’t believe this is still here. A 3 band full-fat U.S. Stingray in classic black with gloss maple neck. What’s not to love??? 😍 An absolute steal! Whoever gets it, don’t forget to wear your Richard Turpin mask 🦹
  5. +1 to that. Some may say "well it's easy when you're a squillionaire", but Roger certainly brings an awful lot of heat upon himself for things that he believes in when he could just be sat enjoying his twilight years in the sunshine somewhere. Good on them both.
  6. Truly a steal at this price 😮
  7. Just sold a head to Simon. Prompt payment and great communication throughout. So to echo the previous posts, trade with absolute confidence. Many thanks
  8. Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got. I have the urge for a Status myself at the moment, but given the apparent availability shortage in the used market I may well decide to order new myself.
  9. Great basses, enjoy 😉
  10. I enjoyed tonight’s guitar episode. Faster moving perhaps and again showing that each of the three episodes were slightly different in their make up, but very enjoyable all the same.
  11. Yes I've seen this and agree it's a great watch. He seems to have remained a very down to earth chap considering his amazing talent. Personal fave examples of his playing are the first couple of tracks of Roger Waters' Amused to Death album. Sublime 😵
  12. This really is rather lovely 😍
  13. Apologies, I’ve just checked and if the first two numbers after ‘CGS’ denote the year of manufacture, mine is actually a 2011. I think I may have been confusing it with my EBMM Sterling (which is a 2009 model). 🙄
  14. Very nice. I hope you’re well.
  15. Maybe so. It was sold to me as a 2009 and tbh I’ve never bothered to check against the serial number. Lovely bass either way.
  16. The latest addition, a '96 AH280 GP12SMX paired with a separate Trace UV module, all in a lightweight shallow 3U case. Took some head scratching and faffing about but it was worth it.
  17. +1 to this, I have a 2009 Olympic White CV Precision. I fitted a Kiogon wireless loom with CTS pots and switchcraft jack and a Custom Shop '62 pick up to effectively bring it up to US spec. I've now sold my US p but have kept this as it plays and sounds so good.
  18. My MkIV is the best of the bunch, but for versatility/weight the SMX is great with the EQ balance etc. There's not much between this '96 SMX and the '93 model I have, although the valve blend on this one seems to sound ever so slightly better to my ears.
  19. And here it is . I love the look of the 350/400 SMX models with the UV light but I don't need or use any of the extra bells and whistles that they have over the 250/280 model. So this is my solution, a 1996 AH280 GP12SMX mounted with a separate Trace UV lamp module in a shallow 3U case, weighing in at a rather more manageable 14.85kg. Properly chuffed.
  20. Still going but seem to manufacture predominantly for the Japanese market. There's an interesting thread here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/335664-aria-making-a-comeback/
  21. I had one of these in black and red. Looked stupid but played and sounded great 😂.
  22. Another Fender 7250 user here, although I tend to favour the ‘L’ sets now (100/80/60/40). Feel great to me and great value.
  23. Nice one. Handy solution to keep in mind 👍
  24. Same here, TE head through a BF Super Twin sounds huge. Weight wise (purely because I finally got around to purchasing some digital luggage scales) my TE heads are as follows: MkIV AH250 GP11 ('80's) in original wooden housing = 20.96kg AH250 GP12 SMX ('93 with heatsink) in original wooden housing = 14.33kg AH280 GP12 SMX ('96 with fan) in 2U ABS case = 12.33kg Watch this space for a project I'm working on to create a light weight (well, 'lighter' weight) AH350 GP12SMX lookalike by marrying an AH250 GP12SMX and a separate TE UV lamp module in a 3U ABS case. Until a couple of weeks ago I didn't even know the UV light was ever made as a separate module !
