  1. Genzler Magellan 800 - £585 shipped Unfortunately I won’t be gigging anytime in the near future so I’m downsizing my kit. First up is my Genzler Magellan 800. There’s lots of info about these online and on these hallowed pages. A very versatile amp but unfortunately now surplus to my needs. OVERVIEW / SPECIFICATIONS: PREAMP – dual channel, all solid state analog design with integrated soft clip circuitry. INPUT– 1Meg ohm input impedance INPUT PAD SWITCH – attenuation of -8.5dB CLEAN CHANNEL OVERVIEW – Voiced to provide natural, pristine, transparent reproduction of the bass instrument. DRIVE CHANNEL OVERVIEW – Voiced to provide a more “driven” tonal signature and harmonic content along with a softer top end and more relaxed low frequency response. CONTOUR — continuously variable control of 2 vastly different response curves. In either CURVE position, when the SHAPE control is all the way off (CCW) the response curve is completely FLAT. Curve A (Blue) — a variable pre-shaped curve that boosts lows and highs while simultaneously cutting mids. The slopes are fairly gentle which keep the tone shaping very musical. This curve covers a wide range of sounds from flat to classic to modern depending on the position of the SHAPE control. Curve B (Amber) — a variable pre-shaped curve with attenuated high mids and highs, a low mid bump, and a slight roll-off of the lowest bass frequencies. Again, the slopes are fairly gentle which keep the tone shaping very musical. This curve is intended to provide sounds in the range of vintage amps and vintage cabinets that do not have tweeters. ACTIVE EQUALIZATION – The MAGELLAN™ 800 contains an active 3 band equalizer with a sweepable parametric mid-range frequency control. Bass +/- 15dB boost/cut shelving curve with a corner frequency of 75Hz Mid +/- 15dB boost/cut of the variable mid frequency selected Freq Variable mid frequency from 150Hz-3kHz Treble +/- 15dB boost/cut shelving curve with a corner frequency of 6kHz POWER AMP – The MAGELLAN™ 800 uses a state of the art, class D power amplifier design and a high frequency auto-sensing universal switch-mode power supply (SMPS) to achieve unprecedented high performance and lightweight packaging. There are no Voltage Switches to change or jumpers to move. This SMPS senses the line voltage from 100-240 Volts and automatically configures itself. REAR PANEL XLR Direct Output Mic / Line Switch Pre / Post EQ Switch Ground Lift Switch Effects Loop Aux Input Tuner Output Head Phones Foot Switch — Channel switching (Foot switch not included) Dual Speakon® Speaker Outputs SPECIFICATIONS Power Output: 400W/8 Ohms, 800W/4 Ohms and 800W/2.67 Ohms Minimum Speaker Load: 2.67 Ohms Operating Power condition: 100 – 240V, 50/60 Hz Dimensions: 3”H X 11.25”W X 10.5”D (76.2mm H x 285.75mm W x 266.7mm D) Weight: 6.25 LBS (2.83Kg) This head is in excellent condition save for a tiny amount of black paint missing from the marker line on the Master Volume knob. Comes complete with the correct and brand new Genzler carry bag which has been used twice. Sale Only - No trades thanks Price includes shipping to UK buyers only or you’re quite welcome to collect from South Yorkshire for £570. I’m currently unavailable for meet ups I’m afraid.
  2. Nice bass but the ad seems a little 'brief'. More detail would perhaps help your sale What year is it from (pre-2005 judging by the nut)? Key features - ebony board I believe? Is there any damage or any other faults of note? Does it have a case? Do you have any more detailed/up-to date photographs (I only ask as some of these photos appear to be the same ones used on a for sale thread on TalkBass from 2006)?
  3. I had/used a black and red version briefly in the early ‘90’s. Built superbly with very powerful pickups as I recall.
  4. Thanks. I've taken a couple of other pics to try to show the difference in the 'roundness' of the contouring between the two.
  5. Sold a bass to Mart (surprisingly our first transaction given that we are pretty local to each other). First class communication throughout and on collection we had a great hour or so talking about all things bass. A real pleasure. Until the next time, all the best and many thanks
  6. Exactly this for me. I used to avoid narrower nut widths but I’m loving my EBMM Sterlings after years of playing mainly Stingray/Precision width necks. However, a narrow spacing at the bridge and I’m knackered.
  7. In my defence, time really does fly. I swore blind that it was the beginning of 2017 I bought that one. Alas, checking my messages confirmed otherwise 😂
  8. Shockingly, I’ve just worked out that I can beat that. 8 basses with the longest resident in chez DeeDee being my Aria SB R80 purchased at the beginning of this year 😮 I’ll just go and stand on the naughty step 😔
  9. Alas, I’ve no means of getting an accurate weight unfortunately. Suffice to say that these Specials are significantly lighter than the previous models. It’s by far the lightest of these four (cue gratuitous ‘wall of basses’ shot):
  10. Ahem ............. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/331797-2018-ebmm-stingray-special-4h-charcoal-sparkle-with-ebony-board-new-price-£1800/
  11. Mine is certainly lighter than any Stingray I’ve had previously and it’s also far lighter than each of my Sterlings.
  12. New price folks, the first £1800 gets a spanking new bass and one hell of a bargain
  13. Very nice. GLWTS and if anyone is after a matching 6 string version to go with it, give me a shout!
  14. 😍😍😍

    Beautiful bass
  16. Possibly but I like things to be original, or at least any changes to be reversible.
  17. Why do these things never come up at the right time 😔 GLWTS
  18. Beautiful bass Glwts
  19. Forgive my ignorance, but what are these heads rated at? (No sniggering at the back) 🤪
  20. 😂 ah yes, ebony is pretty special. Saying that, the maple HH feels lovely too. They’re all lovely aren’t they 😁
  21. 😮 Possibly not
  22. I for one certainly wouldn’t call Stingrays agricultural, I love them to bits old and new. In fact my current fave is my ‘new’ 2007 HH Stingray closely followed by my pair of Sterlings. So, perhaps agricultural is a little strong, but several of us have said that the new Specials are a little more ‘refined’ so perhaps we all mean a little nearer the same thing than may at first be apparent. I personally quite like heavy basses so the lesser weight of the Special isn’t a huge deal for me and rarely do I venture up the ‘dusty end’ of a neck, so the improved access at the heel isn’t of great benefit either. But the whole package makes for a very impressive bass. I can see that the inherent features of the Special would perhaps make them sufficiently more appealing to warrant further investigation to someone who for whatever reason wasn’t a fan of the Std Stingray.
