  1. The same here, I have never been short of sustain. The long sustain of an electric bass guitar, back in the 1950s, would have been a strong selling point versus the shorter sustain of an acoustic upright bass. But just because sustain is a good thing does not mean that one needs more and more of it. Enough is enough.
  2. Hello Wally!
  3. Or you could simply buy a Fender/Squier Precision and stop worrying.
  4. Thanks very much!
  5. Based on the silk at the tuners, I'd say the strings are GHS Precision Flats.
  6. " In 1948 he formed the six-piece Last-Becker Ensemble, which included his two brothers, Robert and Werner, who had been highly influential in persuading him to become a professional musician. Within two years he was voted the best jazz bassist in Germany, an award that he won again in 1951 and 52. " https://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/jun/10/james-last
  7. It's not a competition of course but who comes out on top?
  8. Didn't Bruce play mostly with index finger only?
  9. I don't much care. Both sound fine to me. And I have never thought 'I wish I had more sustain'.
  10. I was in a band with a drummer and two percussionists. Does that count? It did sound massive.
  11. I have GHS Precision Flats on my Fender Mustang which I'm very happy with and used to have them on my now sold Lakland Decade. And, perhaps contrary to KiOgon above, I have preferred them on a Fender Jazz to a Fender Precision. As usual, you'll have to try them to decide for yourself.
  12. To me , the situation sounds more like divorcing your wife so you can get sh@gged more. Only to discover your ex-wife is getting sh@gged more than you are and so you start asking to watch her.

  17. Just get a set of luggage scales ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2047675.m570.l2632.R2.TR12.TRC2.A0.H1.TRS0&_nkw=luggage+scales&_sacat=157967 You can also weigh your luggage. If we are ever allowed to go anywhere ever again.
  18. I'd rather like one of those.
  19. Passive short scale bass, flatwounds, played with a plectrum near or even over the end of the fretboard.
  20. Some years ago, Picato flats used to have no silk but then I think they changed to silk and perhaps are now out of business.
