2. I do every gig with back pain as I have spondylolisthesis.
3.
Not dealt with them but I hate the snobbish "tude" they have towards anyone that walks in there just to have a look. You can only sit on their posh sofa to try something if they think you look like you are going to buy any of their extremely overpriced old instruments.
That's completely the opposite of my experience.
4.
This thread has been done to death, please use the search function.
True, I say the same thing every time it comes up.
5. Except that I wouldn't buy either because I'd buy a normal Precision or Jazz, I really can't see why anyone has got a problem with Fender doing these models.
6.
No your eyes are perfectly fine that's exactly what they have. I tried them both at Guitar Guitar Epsom a couple of weeks ago, check this: the one with the pbass body has a jazz neck width with the two 'buckers the one with the Jazz body has 2 Pbass pickups and a precision width neck, a complete mix and match of horribleness and they both sounded proper sh|te (to me at least)
According to the Fender website (which I realise may well not be reliable) the Blacktop Precision has a standard 1.625" nut and the Blacktop Jazz has a standard 1.5" nut.
7.
Hey there, After play bass for about 9 years using a mixture of pick and fingerstyle, I have decided to focus much more on the fingerstyle side, and try to not use a pick as much. So far I have found that I get a nicer tone, and it is so much more comfortable (playing with a pick never felt natural to me). The only issue is that after my 3 hour band practice on tuesday night, I now have a lovely blister on my index finger. Now, I have been told various different things about the best way to deal with blisters as far as bass playing is concerned. Some people tell me to prick a small hole in it with a pin and drain the fluid, and others tell me to leave it to heal on its own. I was wondering what some of you guys think? Since I am looking to continue playing with my fingers, I assume building calluses would be a good idea, but I don't know what the best way to go about this is. Cheers
Don't burst the blister, regularly apply surgical spirit (available from your local chemist), rest the blister while it's very sore but play again as soon as you can without making it worse, keep applying the surgical spirit.

9. Looks nice Jas, I'll listen to the mp3s when i've got some headphones. How do you think the US model compares with the Skyline?
10. If it needs a refret, then do it ... but get the best and most original style of fretjob you can.
11.
I've had two of these and sold them both. What a fool I am...
...and I've got one of those two, so thanks again.
12. I didn't vote because I use different strings on different basses and all of them I had to look up the gauges - anyway, I wouldn't buy or use a string merely because of gauge. La Bella 760FS - 45 65 85 105 TI Jazz Flats - 43 56 70 100 La Bella 760N - 60 70 94 115
13. I don't usually have much to do with rounds but TI Jazz Rounds are, like the flats, very compliant.
14. http://www.lakland.com/ac_osborn.htm Fretted not fretless but still a rough guide.
15. In UK English I think it's pronounced Linden
16. Looking back now, I feel sure that the situation for buskers has improved. Back in the early 1980s I remember having to go to court to pay bail to get our vocalist out of the clink for non-payment of his busking fines so that he could make our gig that night. They'd also confiscated his guitar.
17.
Heard through a friend the same situation exists in Brighton
Here's the council rules for busking in Brighton & Hove. It includes 'no drummers' and 'no amplification' but I've often seen both.
18.
...Mr Wyman himself. Not flash, possibly not even adventurous...
I always wondered where I got it from.
19.
I would be surprised if its 8 ohm, theyre special order. The standard is 4 ohm
But there has been a few 8 ohm models around recently both here and on ebay.
20.
A friend has had a bereavement in the family and has some bass gear to dispose including a 1964 Burns short scale bass. Not sure of the model as I've not actually seen it. I reckoned ~£300 as its a short scale and so would have fewer people interested. What do you think? Was I close?
What model? What condition? Pics?
21.
Fretless bass is just like fretted bass but without the stabilisers.
Fretted: Lined fretless: Unlined fretless with side dots: Unlined and no side dots fretless: I'd like to see Berlin on the last one.
22. ... and so does the headstock.
23. I'd say Eko too but pickguard looks wrong for a Florentine.
24. The Strat serial (1998/9) is correct for the 1999 date in his Strat sale.
25. So ... the SE Bass Bash is turning into a slap fest before it even happens.
