2. In UK English I think it's pronounced Linden
 3. Looking back now, I feel sure that the situation for buskers has improved. Back in the early 1980s I remember having to go to court to pay bail to get our vocalist out of the clink for non-payment of his busking fines so that he could make our gig that night. They'd also confiscated his guitar.
 4.
Heard through a friend the same situation exists in Brighton
Here's the council rules for busking in Brighton & Hove. It includes 'no drummers' and 'no amplification' but I've often seen both.
 5.
...Mr Wyman himself. Not flash, possibly not even adventurous...
I always wondered where I got it from.
 6.
I would be surprised if its 8 ohm, theyre special order. The standard is 4 ohm
But there has been a few 8 ohm models around recently both here and on ebay.
 7.
A friend has had a bereavement in the family and has some bass gear to dispose including a 1964 Burns short scale bass. Not sure of the model as I've not actually seen it. I reckoned ~£300 as its a short scale and so would have fewer people interested. What do you think? Was I close?
What model? What condition? Pics?
 8.
Fretless bass is just like fretted bass but without the stabilisers.
Fretted: Lined fretless: Unlined fretless with side dots: Unlined and no side dots fretless: I'd like to see Berlin on the last one.
 9. ... and so does the headstock.
 10. I'd say Eko too but pickguard looks wrong for a Florentine.
 11. The Strat serial (1998/9) is correct for the 1999 date in his Strat sale.
 12. So ... the SE Bass Bash is turning into a slap fest before it even happens.
 13. If you practice you'll be better than if you didn't practice but that's about it.
 14.
I thought the P-bass split coil was humbucking?
Yes, the P bass pickup is humcancelling (or humbucking if you prefer)
 15.
Bob Carolgees isnt dead he has a candle shop in frodsham cheshire.
I got that wrong then. Sorry Bob.

 17.
Jeff Berlin... is that the fella that's got Spit the Dog?
I knew Bob Carolgees was dead... ...but I didn't realise Jeff Berlin had taken over the dog...
 18.
Oh, how I wish I sounded like Jaco when I pick up my fretless
I don't sound like Jaco but I was never wishing to - not that I could if I did want to.
 19.
Thinking again, maybe next rehearsal I'll suggest doing it slower with the riff double time, maybe our drummer will pick up on the proper feel and it'll mesh more.
Your band's tempo versus the Beatles tempo might well be the issue. If you've upped the tempo then there may not be time for McCartney's line.
 20.
I bought some Pyramid Golds from someone here. The sleeves they came in had 'Made in West Germany' printed on them. They worked just fine
Yes, I store my flats on the bass for years.
 21.
cheers guys used the line out at both gigs this weekend and worked great, i had tried using the line out in the house before i posted but the signal was peaking the amp even with the gain on the amp nearly at 0 but figured out this was happening because i didnt realise that the master vol on the pre amp affected the output level of the line out and had been up fairly high
Ah yes, forgot to mention adjusting the output level.
 22.
So there we were, in the middle of "just got paid" / "American woman" by ZZ Top/ The guess Who - in the pub tonight when the guitarist busts a string, goes out of tune and stops playing. What would you guys do in that situatiion? Me and the drummer improvised into a dodgy jazz funk thing for a couple of minutes whilst said guitarist fumbles for new strings, restrings and retunes. We discussed it after the gig, and as its happened before and likely to happen again we think we should have a standby "question and answer" thing going on between myself and the drummer to cover the guitarists ass. Its really panicky when it happens in a room full of punters! Any ideas, experiences? Dont suggest he gets a standby axe cos he hasnt got a pot to piss in
I'd expect the guitarist to make it to the end of the song with a missing string and then change strings in about one minute between songs.
 23. There was a thread about this at the Last Bass Outpost: http://bassoutpost.com/index.php?topic=4632.0 Apparently, when asked, Hillman said that it was a bass that was loaned to him for the filming, and he never did know what it was. He assumed it was a Fender body with a custom or home made neck. He never used it again.
