I find having a lined board helps tremendously when I have to hit notes spot on fretted style, especially higher up the register. Of course I can play without them but it’s never going to be quite as accurate.

Keith Richards, Hendrix and Gilmour have all stepped up to the plate. -
You can get to the same place by listening on headphones but feeding the low end to a subwoofer.

I wouldn't mind catching Hackett at some stage , at least he looks like he might actually make it through the set.

Peter Hook auctioning off equipment/memorabilia

I wonder what all that withdrawn stuff was …eccelshall went cheap in my view. -
What a disaster, …I saw them last at the reunion tour with Gabriel and Hackett and really I don’t want to be disappointed by seeing them again if it isn't as good, …and going by recent youtube clips I think I’m ok just leaving it.

Or maybe whoever bought it found out something, the price is too close to the original to be speculative unless the original owner sold it super cheap which I somehow doubt.

Bearing in mind what it represents I think this is quite a good investment. -

Safe bet is to get a pbass with the jazz bass pickup so it looks the part and covers a lot of ground sonically, hopefully quite cheap so you can knock it about a bit.

I saw that add and was tempted, the made by my dad comment spooked me a bit, sounded like it might not have passed through robs hands, but I’m shallow as the colour ultimately deterred me, but at this price for a genuine carbon neck status …with a bit of tlc this could be a killer deal.

I have an s2 fretless bolt on, it has really detailed and clear fundamentals which is great for that mwah. I have tried a lot of other fretless basses over the years but the s2 is the king at this, and no fade away dead spots. I think the main reason for getting a status would be the carbon neck, without it it just becomes another well made bass which is ok but I might well go for something else if that was the case. Since getting the fretless I am now getting a fretted version, i have never played a fretted status but if it’s anything like the fretless I’ll be real happy…fingers crossed.

I have never heard of any specialist doing that from asia, most shipping agents are geared up to simply pay the tax and not try and avoid it, they are all set up for commercial shipping. Household movers in the uk who may know more don’t have representatives in asia. My guess is if you find someone who can do it all they will probably charge so much that you may as well just do it with commercial shippers and pay the tax.

Well there is a huge difference between someone doing a surgical tax avoidance international shopping trip and somebody returning home from living abroad carrying their personal possessions, and I would hope that customs would see it that way also. I have plenty of photos to back up my case but not much else in terms of receipts etc.
