yeah i was at that same gig, did the quadrophenia thing and slept on the seafront, their best gig for me was Glastonbury about the same time when they played during a full on lightening storm which just took the whole experience up to a whole new level...robert himself remembered it as being one of the best as well.

glad you got a good one ... i recently bought a squire classic 60s vibe jazz literally as something just to noodle on in lockdown since all my gear was in storage abroad. I honestly didn't expect too much for 300 quid new but i am absolutely blown away by it, it sounds great, pretty light and plays like butter with low action. So now its a keeper, didn't see that one coming at all. Reminds me a lot of my old early 80s Japanese squire precision, should never have let that one go.

just check out this live concert track, definitely a peak, it is the cure with what i think was the best lineup including andy anderson ex hawkwind on drums. I love the use of the flanger here, they never seem to do it like this anymore. Funnily enough i saw thornally first so for me he was the definitive cure bassist.

they initially wanted to use two basses on primary but ended up using one four string and the bass vi for sonic reasons...and thornalley specifically was the producer of pornography and filled in on that tour.

generally with the cure the older the album the better but you cant go wrong with the trilogy ie pornorgaphy/disintegration /bloodflowers.

Bass driven cure tracks …there are so many that it’s hard to choose. Quite surprising how much Gallup looks like Dempsey… at least I think so.

yeah i read it, he has made amends but judging by his levinhurst offerings he should have just stayed on drums, it would have definitely been the healthier option.

I’m surprised also, let’s face it Robert smith is the cure, if you listen to any of the demos and the top which was bass played by Robert and stuff with the glove or the walk and the banshees it becomes fairly clear where the magic is, Gallup is a solid bass player but I was never blown away technically by anything he has done even though he has been a big influence on me. Can’t help thinking Robert was always the puppet master.

i got my westone after seeing harvey bainbridge of hawkwind using one on their sonic attack tour. He got a pretty good sound out of it.

yes i think it was hh, maybe to be replaced later on by carslboro stingrays. Maiden had to be using their own gear, marshalls i would imagine. The place was located under a railway arch. I used to be so impressed the way the hh would light up in the dark.

had the annoying pleasure of being in the next room to these guys in some grotty leytonstone rehearsal studio, literally we couldn't hear ourselves over the sound coming through the walls.

yes i was wondering about the moulds, it almost seems like their mould might have a vairiable width adjustment, but yes i will email them on this, just trying to work out what might suit me best before i do so.

i cant seem to see anything on their website specifically about this but are there three different neck widths for the 4 5 and 6 string options? i was wondering in particular if they might do something like five strings closer together on a four string neck?

I had a thunder iii in the 80s, thought it was really great bass, part exchanged it for a wal.

Home use for sure, just practising on the sofa type stuff.
