  1. Just googling status graphite, most of what comes up is four stringers.
  2. Yes ..it seems to have worked a treat ...thanks guys!
  3. Ok ...I’m all keefed up ...fingers crossed ...expecting miracles.
  4. Anyone got suggestions for split fingers ...they are basically split fissures and bass playing is probably the last thing I should be doing with this problem ...those gloves or finger tip things look interesting but do they work for this condition...it’s painful as hell, literally there can be blood on the strings at which point I have to stop playing. Finger tips on both hands are effected.
  5. A fretless can be played much like a fretted...Jack Bruce comes to mind
  6. paladino with nine inch nails.
  7. Tool use a fretless on occasion
  8. Hey you... pink Floyd....Dave Gilmour.
  9. So did the op complete this refinish?... any chance of some before and after photos as I’m mulling doing the same thing myself with a stingray with a badly chipped paint job...any tips? Thanks.
  10. My finances are a bit low (1000 quid refinish yikes!) so I’m thinking of just heat gunning off the poly shell to my stingray and applying a gun oil finish, after nearly three decades in humid asia the paint is literally falling off it in chunks and looks terrible, poly does not age gracefully at all. ...I’m half expecting the bass might sound even better without this layer of plastic around it, I only hope the wood looks ok and is not some offcut that they used because it was going to get painted..
  11. Now this is another brilliant bassline ...they are miming with two p bases but in reality one of them was a bassvi ...
  12. Here’s a cracking 80s new wave bass line ...Steve Sevrin banging one out on his wal in 83 ... simple but so powerful. https://youtu.be/EYJOq6VnV2U
  13. So funny to think Burnel’s signature sound was linked to a ripped speaker cone that he never knew was there ...
  14. Ah...forget it.
  15. This is how to end up with a huge bass collection ...each one having a different tuning or set of strings ...
  16. Thinking of something like an ebs valve drive to warm up a status ...would that be a good fit or is there something better??
  17. ok.. fingers crossed...i took the plunge ...
  18. Do you play 5string low b?
  19. I am planning to play out through my mixing desk ...my question was are the lp-6 monitors man enough to cope with a bass guitar as a replacement for say the double four? ...if I do get the double four I would still take the di from it into the desk, I personally can’t see a huge advantage to ever miking the speaker for bass. just seems like the double four is essentially a small bookshelf monitor ...so why duplicate?
  20. Encouraging ....
  21. I was kicking around the idea of something like a pjb double four to do my garage studio practice/recording sessions because my ancient near field book shelf monitors on my recording setup were not handling the low b ....but suddenly it dawned on me that I should just invest in better active monitors!! so could these kali 6 monitors do what the double four does? ...I have a sansamp that could warm it up but what I am looking for is a low volume punchy bouncy bass setup that would essentially be my recording sound as well??
  22. For some odd reason sir John Harvey Jones and Morgan cars keeps flashing across my mind whenever I look at this thread...go figure.
  23. it makes you wonder how other companies manage to turn any kind of profit at all?
