  1. Maybe your alternative device didn't put the L in for you instead of laurence like it did above.
  2. Once upon a time gigging was my sole income. Thankfully that did not last too long as it barely put food on the table and paid the rent. If I had needed new strings it would have come from savings. The best you could say for it was I was saved from claiming the unemployment benefit.
  3. As much as I like Kiss I am ambivalent about Gene Simmons, and wouldn't be seen dead with his signature 'axe'. Aside from that I never made any connections between artists/styles and particular basses for particular tones. This may stem from my mentor playing anything and everything on a custom bass. Then came the internet.
  4. ...or Peavey 1820 in its house.
  5. He made the Clayton's offer:
  6. A Trace of this with a dash of very mild overdrive, a slash of HPF and a judicious trim of the high end. Don't overcook the mids.
  7. I think this doesn't surprise me if you sound anything like the WOT demo. My own secret sauce sounds very similar and I have gotten similar compliments on my tone since found.
  8. If you are indoors your onstage 'heft' becomes mud out front. Upgrading the amp might get you another 3 or 4dB of heft but getting the guitar players to quiet down by 3dB would be far more productive.
  9. I do love the satin finish to the maple neck on some MIA. If you have plain poly then that's probably the biggest point of difference. You could probably take off the neck and give it light sand for a painter to shoot it with satin poly and be good to go.
  10. It sounds like you have the same info about the visitor and the same invested in his gig as me. Zero. Likewise the chances of lending him my best bass. A beater maybe, but someone local would be taking responsibility for its return.
  11. What's to stop a private prosecution?
  12. Beware the 5 string button on those. Good way to fart a cab to death.
  13. Without IP it's doubtful technology would have advanced you anything better than a 1980's Peavey by now. You want to have cake and eat it.
  14. Are you Paul Page? Panasonic asked him to tell the press that no, it should be pronounced mah-tsoo-shee-tah. Hiro then told Paul Page to pronounce it however he liked to.
  15. Or even the 'On' switch.
  16. Probably the best place for it. I haven't seen a forum section for whole gigs going begging. Open to all styles? Bound to be someone with a spare Sunday arvo 6 weeks out.
  17. Explains a lot though! For 18 months in I could have sworn I would have racked thousands upon thousands. Just looked, not even 4 posts per day. So well under control me!!
  18. It's still most likely the jack socket is on the way out. That or your lead.
  19. So you basically have nothing to say on the matter of IP theft except it doesn't matter and doesn't interest you. Big yawn alright.
  20. Get the guitar cabs up on risers and pointed right at their owners' heads. Never in the history of rock'n'roll did the guitarists not turn down.
  21. Some people is not what I said. Do you you think IP is a big waste of time then? Or you just want to play favourites with who gets to steal it from who?
  22. If everyone took that attitude there would be little choice and what was available would be very expensive. I'm not just talking about bass amps. Much of the progress in the world has come about through IP.
  23. One time I thought the Ashdown 15'' combo at the rehearsal space was done for when I found it with everything dimed. Turning it all back down and playing it was sounding very broken. Then I noticed the 'Subharmonic' button was engaged, disengaged and all was well. That thing must have cost a heap of sales over the years. Assuming it actually stood up to everything at 11 then it's one tough little bugger.
  24. Sometimes I forget to mess about with the pickup selection between tunes. I still sounded good and nobody noticed, not even me.
