  1. I'm still up for trading my 4x10 (+ cash your way) for a 6x10 if anybody is interested
  2. Just got an Ashdown AAA-30 practice amp and was wondering if anybody had found any good alternatives for AppTek ? I get why they've not done an Android version due to latency issues but that was back in 2011. Surely there must be something out there now?
  3. I had one and it was one of the best I've played. Fantastic sound and really playable. I'm a bit of a Spector fan so it's probably understandable but it just goes to show, one man's plank of wood is another's Chippendale (not the male stripper type, I hasten to add).
  4. How have you managed to live your life without a copy of that album ?
  5. He does have a point. Every decade within rock music, there has been a new genre that just blows everything out of the water and rips up the rule book - the 50s was rock 'n' roll, the 60s was the Beatles and Stones, the 70s was Sabbath, Zepp, Pistols, the 80s was New Wave , the 90s was Brit-pop, 00s and beyond have been a steady decline in originality IMO. There have been the odd exceptions with various stand outs but it's really been like digging for diamonds in a steaming pile of dogshit. Radio hasn't helped one bit. The usual crap being pumped out on repeat has tempered people's musical tastes to the point where they'll accept any old nonsense and call it genius. I have a theory why. There isn't the widespread hard times as there have been in previous decades coupled with too many distractions such as TV, internet and gaming. Hard times produce great music. I can't really explain why, but look at the times (I'm talking about the UK here) when recession, unemployment and general hardships have been rife. People have produced the best music and also some great musicians have come to the fore. In turn, you had DJs who would support this. Personally I think the period from 77 - 83 was probably the best years for rock music. You only have to look at the charts to see that. I've chosen a date in 1979 (it was my 9th birthday) and come up with this ... https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart/19791007/7501/ What a list of great rock acts in the national singles chart ! You'd never see anything like that now, there simply isn't the will or the way to produce great rock music. Don't get me wrong though, it's not all doom and gloom. There's still some great bands, some great gigs and some great musicians, all I'm saying, it's getting harder to find them.
  6. Had both Epiphone and Gibson Thunderbirds years ago. They look good but they're one trick ponies and they're an acquired taste ergonomically speaking. You're far better off with a Precision. Better sound and far more versatile.
  7. Spector Rebop on eBay at the moment, absolute bargain (I'm not connected to the seller by the way). If it was a 5 string I'd snap it up https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153496975431
  8. It's not too much of a big job. I think they did mine in about ten minutes or so. It was fine after they re-soldered the joints.
  9. Try giving it a whack on top of the amp. If it comes back, then you have the classic problem of the capacitors (I think), popping out of the circuit. Could be completely wrong but back in the 80s I had a head that did that and took it to TE who explained there were some cold soldered connections which would make them pop out very slightly which would reduce volume. Not sure if it's the capacitors (long time ago now) but it was something on them lines.
  10. These are Gotoh replacement so they should be compatible with your Spector Legend.
  11. I've got a Euro 5LX and a Doug Wimbish Signature Spector which is the reason I am curious about the Rebop. I've heard a lot of stories about neck-dive on them and also, not sounds as good as the LX basses. I first bought an NS2000 which really didn't do it for me at all, weighed a ton and was very anaemic sounding. Could possibly bought a duff one but that put me off Spectors for a while.
  12. Whereabouts are you based? I have an Ampeg 4x10 that I'd trade for a 6x10. Tolex is a bit shoddy but the amp works perfectly.
  13. I've not played a Rebop but I'm tempted to try one out. Are they much different to the neck-thru basses both sound-wise and playability?
  14. I'm currently using one of these gig bags. They're great. Pretty solid, reasonably light and plenty of storage space. GLWTS
  15. I saw the T20 whilst I was looking at the Foundations. Interesting looking basses. I've had Peavey USA made guitars and the workmanship really is top notch. For the money I can't think of a better bass, certainly a USA made bass. The T40s are legendary and command high prices, even if they do weigh the combined weight of every sumo wrestler in Japan.
  16. Probably the funkiest electronics I've seen on a bass ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ovation-Magnum-II-Rare-1978-Active-Bass/273700111231?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D55676%26meid%3Dfc7b49186adf4ce49c4699b1f2d564ca%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D1%26sd%3D202596272100%26itm%3D273700111231&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
  17. There's a few on eBay at the moment. These are great basses for the money and these are not that common in the UK. Made in the USA and really playable too. I'm not affiliated with any of the sellers. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Used-peavey-foundation-bass-guitar/333067770533?hash=item4d8c62daa5:g:oYUAAOSwBPRcTZ1Q:rk:2:pf:0 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peavey-Foundation-Bass-guitar-made-in-USA/132926157851?hash=item1ef304341b:g:yH0AAOSwLKhcQdku:rk:1:pf:0 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peavey-Foundation-Bass-guitar-94-Made-in-USA-Rare-with-Laney-amp-leads-case/202596272100?hash=item2f2badc7e4:g:JIUAAOSwVZ1cZET4:rk:3:pf:0
  18. You'll be needing one of these then ... http://www.schecterguitars.com/vault/diamond-p-custom-detail 5-string version here https://www.schecterguitars.com/vault/diamond-p-custom-5-active-detail
  19. Ah - well done sir! That's more than likely what's in this one then! Is there much difference between the US and Korean versions ?
  20. Ah my mistake. I might also be wrong on them being manufactured in Korea - they may have actually been manufactured in Japan (which would have made sense with the basses being manufactured in Japan. I found a page here which lists the Spector preamps through the years: http://www.sfcj.net/en/e_data_Preamps.html HOWEVER ... I found a pic of a Forum IV from around the same era on Reverb which has a pic of the control cavity which does look similar to some of the pre-amps from the Kramer era:
  21. These were made in Japan in the ESP factory back in the 80s. I think these were fitted (certainly the Forum I and II basses were) with the excellent Korean made Haz-Lab pre-amp which was also applied to early Spector basses. Can you post up a pic of the electronics? If you take off the control cavity, you should be able to see what type of pre-amp is installed. If it's a Haz-Lab, these are highly desirable. Oh and the original colour is black - you can see that from the back of the body 😂😂
  22. To be fair to him, that bridge design is just plain old stupid. I can't for the life of me imagine why they thought that would be a good design.
