Well done Michael, a cracking day! Mind I think GAS has been prematurely induced in a few people. Unfortunately, my mate Craig (non-BassChatter, 3rd pic down on post #121) has been swayed to the dark side and despite my best efforts has decided that his first bass will be... a Fender! No accounting for taste!

Oh my rant extends... The dip sh*t claims to be an 'official dealer' (I assume of Warwick basses), in which case why did he buy this bass (check his feedback) in Nov 08 from an eBay seller (rbmusicstore)? If you check out the original sale of this bass you'll see that 'Peter' even asks the original seller if they will get a receipt! Not sure that it is strictly legal to retail something on eBay as NEW when it is patently used, even if it has never been gigged. Well at least the original seller of the bass knew that it was Maple. It's a little niggle and hardly the end of the world but it does make me despair when a seller professing to be a dealer/retailer doesn't even know what the body wood construction of their stock is! The seller states the body is Ash... I'm sorry but even the dippiest retailer should know (or at least know how to do a quick Google or visit to the Warwick site) that a SSI has a maple body, I mean ffs just look at it! If you retail instruments (especially when you profess to be an 'official' retailer) then at least learn to distinguish between Maple (especially flamed examples) and Ash. Rant over. Please someone tell me that is faked! The first thing that sprang to mind was that I expected to see a stack-knob Jazz if it was 1960... didn't the 3 knob control get introduced circa 62/63? Then my eye was drawn to a whole variety of discrepancies and the wonderful natural wear and mojo.

Deliveries can show 'attempted delivery' even though it has not left the holding companies depot. It basically means that they are processing your fees and a letter will be winging its way to you soon, telling you what you owe! Depending upon how it is sent from The States you can also receive the package as though you have avoided fees but lo-and-behold the invoice/bill can arrive in the post weeks later.

I had a feeling that French pricing and UK values might vary a bit. I've obviously played it and it felt fine/great/fantastic but I can assume that they aren't a dog's dinner when it comes to hardware and electrics?

A bit sketchy with the detail here but I've been offered a Kopo Lina fretless 4 bass in part-ex, but I know nothing about them. I've googled the company obviously but does anyone have first hand experience (especially long term ownership) of these basses and what are we talking about for used values; is £750 a decent relative value for a used fretless?

Al just bought and collected a desk and flightcase, no messing, made an offer and paid asap. All round spiffing fellow. Tall beyond his height, wiser than an old wise thing and not adverse to a bit of p*ss taking! Cheers Al, look forward to meeting again soon.

If you want to speak to him prior to the bash (to give him a heads up that he might need a basic tool kit and get an idea of strings, cost etc.) give BossHog a PM as he may well be traveling with him, alternatively WoT or myself will have his number somewhere to hand. Actually I'm not sure if Howard Satterley (thebassdoctor) will be present, he does this sort of thing to!

I love my Warwicks through the Thunderfunk and Aggie cabs I have at the minute but I've equally had a quality tone from Glock, H&K... you get the picture.

They've been going years and the later 'neo' Tech Soundsystems cabs are essentially identical to the recent Tecamp neos. They also do a 'budget' range under the SECO brand (http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=39142&hl=seco not a 2x10 but you get an idea of spec and weight).

The Standard is their starter Corvette but is passive. If the guy has turned the bass active then it would essentially be a Proline BUT at the end of the day it is a modded bass so is only worth what someone is prepared to pay. Just out of interest what are 'unmodded' Proline's going for?

I was puzzled when I read your first post but when I've seen the pic you hit the nail on the head it's a modded bass NOT factory. That's not to say it won't be a half decent bass 'for the right money', certainly a step up from any of the Rockbasses but I'm not so impressed with the positioning of the extra control. Oh and why is the neck pup installed the wrong way around? It doesn't make any difference tonally but the wires will have to run the length (width) of the pup before going out of the rout and it just looks wrong!

Forgive my ignorance but if it is modeled on Duck's bass shouldn't it have a Rosewood/block neck? I'm no expert on Laklands or DD but it seems that is more akin to a Glaub bass!
