1. No interest in getting a Thumb shaped Christmas pressie?
 2.
It's getting extremely close to being too good to refuse.
OK if £650 was close then £640 should tip it over the edge... Yes/No? As before re. goodies and delivery but now £640
 3.
So basically this 'double jazz' is 2 J single coil pups put in 1 moulded plastic unit..... bit like an SD cool rail..... Are they set up as h-buckers then? one would presume they are, otherwise unless they are coil tapped or switchable it would appear a bit 'gimmicky' to me..... a promo tool if you will .....
Warwick have been using those twin jazz pups for at least 17 years and yes they are coil tapped with a push pull pot. In the down position you have full humbucker in the up you get a Jazz pup. Quite versatile and not gimmicky at all, in fact MM started doing this with the pup they fitted in the Sterling.
 4.
P.M.'d.
It's owld and it's cheap... you had to have it!
 5.
Not any more On today's exchange rates it's now about £780. In fact a friend of mine had to buy some Euros yesterday and got less than one Euro per pound after he'd paid commission on the exchange! Probably no longer a good time to sell to the UK if you're in a Euro currency country. However, if anyone has something over here that you'd want to ship to Europe then there's never been a better time. . .
... Just don't use PayPal as their exchange rate scr*ws you big style!
 6.
It's getting extremely close to being too good to refuse.
Let's hope you don't leave it too long!
 7. Is it any greater of a temptation @ £650 and that includes case, straplocks, a set of gold coloured knobs (quality ones not naff alloy) along with the standard ones AND delivery?
 8.
How useful is this comparison? Who knows what a bass is *really* like until you've used is at a gig? Not I...
That's the truth BUT we are talking 'comparison' i.e. how one sounds against the other. My comment about the usefulness of the comparison was aimed at the fact that if they didn't use identical strings and settings then you aren't getting anywhere near a useful comparison (though as you say it don't mean squat till you fire it up with other instruments). TBH if you've got the kind of money it takes to buy a CS Fender, no comparison on earth is going to convince you that a £250 bass is as good as a £2500 one.
 9.

Very nice Ben. It'd be interesting to hear that stacked up against a wenge/ovankol model.
 10.
Seems to me the main difference between Ed Friedland's basses and the classic vibe models were his strings seemed to be older and more played in whilst the no doubt factory fresh cv's had lovely bright new strings. I play a squier (1983 precision) 'cos at the time it was about a third the price of a US built Fender and unless you looked very closely at the small print on the headstock you couldn't tell if one of those was built in the US or in Japan anyway. If you don't like the logo you can always stick some masking tape over it........
Ah! Now I just assumed they would have strung all of the basses with identical fresh strings, just as I would take for granted that the recording/desk settings would have been flat so as not to advantage any particular instrument. Maybe it's just me but if that isn't the case then any comparison is pretty much a waste of time!
 11.
I have a maple necked '96 Streamer 'Bolt-On' coming my way on Tuesday...
You learn something new every day. BO Wicks aren't my bag but I can't ever remember seeing a review of a BO maple necked Streamer! There are a few NT editions that have 3 laminate maple necks but I thought W preferred wenge and ovankol for their BO due to the strength.
 12.
I think I've got the same rig/bass - I'll get a good idea today of the true sound and ability. John, I'm disappointed for you but hey, at least you know now. I'm liking the neck profile on mine, it's a tiny bit fatter than my 44-02 and about the same width. I'll do some recording at our rehearsal this afternoon and se how it cuts through.
TBH Sean, I'm not disappointed in the bass in any way (and that isn't just sales pitch ). If I didn't have a long term relationship with my SSI I think I'd have been over the moon with the Spector. That isn't to say that the Wick is better than the Spector, they are just different and I happen to prefer 'certain' aspects of the Wick. I'm sure if we got half a dozen bassists together who all had various Streamers or Spectors we'd all find one that we preferred above the others and that's how it is with this bass. Whoever buys it will be over the moon and may well not care for my SSI in the slightest, though they'd be more than welcome to come along and do an A/B before buying.
 13.
I did laugh at the guy that wanted to sell his exact same model for £1200 the other day.
You noticed that did you? I was far too polite to openly point him in the direction of your listing.
 14. Yep, listening to those recordings there's not a lot in it. I would add the caveat that it wasn't exactly a scientific approach as there was some discrepancy in the the output/recording levels of some of the samples (evident when they blended mid play), which 'might' skew how one or other of the basses came across. However overall I'd agree with marcus that in a live situation you'd be VERY hard pushed to tell the difference between most of those.
 15.
As the proud owner of both models I can vouch for their magnificence although the price increase for Spectors does seem a bit daft in the current climate. I'd never thought of blinging my Euro with god knobs but I think I just might.
'IF' it is a deal clincher I have a brand new set of Warwick gold knobs that I can put on the bass!
I've just got in (slightly pissed) from seeing Alan (NGH) using his backline and Spector Euro. Immense!!
Then you must want another one Peter.
Yeah John I bought it off howard as you know, but we should try and find the interim owners, i wonder if they are basschatters, Howard must know who had it before me , i didnt really ask at the time he, did mention the refinish by dave though, i do know i went to my bank at the time and extended my loan to buy it and a fantastic EBS rig at the time, being an employee of a bank now , i now know that was a bloody silly thing to do, as my then girlfriend and now wife informed me at the time. But hey the GAS rules and wifes are a walking continent of common sense. have a great xmas mate-lee
Funnily enough I've spoken to Howard on the phone a couple of times in the last few weeks and I was planning on calling in on him as it's been a long while since we've seen each other... in fact that sounds like a nice way of whiling away the next few hours!
 16. In short; for the extra (short-term) output you'll get at 2 ohms, I'd go for a pair of 8ohm cabs and give yourself a 4 ohm load for future use. Setting aside your choice of mixing speaker sizes (I anticipate the appropriate authority will clarify why ... that's genuine not taking the p*ss ), there aren't as wide a selection of 2 ohm heads as there are 4 ohm (the industry standard). You can dare t be different if you like (there are 2 ohm heads out there) but TBH it just makes for an easier life if you aim to operate @ 4 ohms... generally.
 17.
I still smile when i see that bass I owned this red warwick streamer for nearly five years and its great, but i never loved it as much as warwickhunt does (he owned it before me) the irony is ive played warwick streamers for ten years, and i only used them because i wanted a spector and thought i couldnt afford one, great design and fantastic whatever you use , both are great basses whichever you use- lee
I'd dearly love to fill in the gaps between me part-exing this to Howard Satterly at Newcastle's 'Bass Place' and you getting it; it must have had an interim owner or two!
 18. It's a Warwick Pro-M bass and I'd not cry foul immediately, as I recall the end of the fingerboard being squared off but 'if' that is a maple neck (wenge board) then it is 'wrong' (I owned a fretless version of this; can still get a pic of it tomorrow as a local guy has it). I couldn't say the paint job is wrong or awful because each to his own but I don't quite "get it"! Is it supposed to be/mean anything or did someone just get bored?
 19. Just to add that if anyone has an interesting trade (cash either way) I'd be interested but not a Fender, thanks. Downsized Fender clones might be considered but nothing big and/or heavy.

 21.
this made me smile. when i saw them for sale my thought was: "i know someone who is looking for one of them, Ill tell him, he wont be interested as I can not for the life of me imagine why/how that would be so much better than the Streamer he sold me 6 months ago." at least this one isn't blue so folk will buy it!
Just watch, blue will be everyone's favourite colour!
 22.
I didn't think that Italy was on the way to Solihull anyway Still a fine bass, but probably way over my limit of funds...
Nah, a guy from the Warwick forum contacted me last weekend and wanted the bass but before we completed the sale (luckily for him) the timing belt on his car went, causing a HUGE repair bill. Nice to know that Italian garages are as expensive as over here.
 23.
No i wasn't just talking about the outline I mean pickguard, controls, pickups etc. And I've always thought P/J combinations look kinda cheap on that style of body. They look ok a jazz/precision, but i'd rather have soapbars or something on that sort of body style. I admit though, i haven't seen any of the more fancy ones though, just ones like that.
The pics aren't that great but I'd say that the 5 string is a higher grade bass than the normal painted basses, as I can see a sandwich/coachline around the body where the hardwood top sits on an ash/alder back but TBH it could probably do with a complete rub down and re-waxing/oiling to get it back to best.
 24.
Sorry to hear it's not for you John. I had band practice with mine last night and it was as good as I'd expected, and I had expected a lot. Lots of in yer face bassiness. With a new distributor in the offing the present availabilty is drying up and the prices as going in the same direction for new stock. As an example Thomann were a bit over £1500. They are now : http://www.thomann.de/gb/spector_euro_4_lx_fmt_bc.htm So this is a real opportunity folks to grab a great bass at a price that's really reasonable. Peter
Cheers Peter. The good thing is that £780 was a far better price than £1500+
 25.
I think someone could do with tightening their belt a bit further... to limit lager intake!
