Can I take the 38R grey pair please 😊 -
Did you get any further with this build @JPJ?

Very interesting thanks for posting. There's no doubting the quality of these instruments, and while they're not really my cup of tea sound wise you can't help but admire the passion and craft that goes into Alembic basses, it's all absolutely top notch.

3Leaf Audio Octabvre - November 2023 release
Bassybert replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in Effects
Reading that (and I’m not sure why I did to be honest 🤣), it seems to me the modus operandi for all this is to test the ceiling people are prepared to pay for his pedals. Substantial price increases inbound. I really don’t get all the furore around pedal culture. Most of it’s snake oil selling and marketing bull.- 47 replies

Not Motown specific but a lot of Stax basslines by Duck Dunn are great fun to play, some of them are easier and more groove orientated than Jamerson style stuff. A few personal favourites I play regularly for practice are… Sitting on the dock of the bay Tramp Born under a bad sign Some of the easier Motown tracks could be… What becomes of the broken hearted Ain't too proud to beg You’ve really got a hold on me Shotgun

3Leaf Audio Octabvre - November 2023 release
Bassybert replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in Effects
If he wants to sell them like that and people are stupid enough to pay over the odds prices then that’s up to them. Just vote with your feet and take your business elsewhere. The amount of money people are shelling out on pedals that are at best slight variations on the same theme is insane. Gotta catch ‘em all indeed…- 47 replies

Bought Andy’s Markbass Compressore. Turned up bang on time, as described and well packaged. Pedal sounds awesome, bit of darkness to the top end but I like that and plenty of grunt when digging in. A great guy to deal with, thanks a lot Andy 😊

Hudson Broadcast? Always seems to have a really nice warm breakup sound

Karl bought a set of LaBella flats and was the perfect gent, great communication and fast payment. Thanks a lot, I hope the self build fretless goes well 😀

The bassline from Moving from the same session is awesome too. Saw Supergrass a few times back in the late 90s/early 00s and they were always brilliant, such a criminally underrated band. I could watch Mick Quinn play for hours, always melodic and groovy, great lines just bubbling away under the songs 🤩

Must ‘resist’ replying to such dad jokes 🤣

No problem, I've just checked and I've got 2.2uf and 22uf but not 220uf anyways 🤣
-
Hang fire on ordering one, I might have one in my box I can send you. Will go and check in a bit.

You’ve pretty much answered your own question 😊 I’ve done similar and didn’t notice anything different either, well not to my ears or fingers and that was fine with me. Who knows, maybe there’s a 0.1% difference but if it sounds good enough then it’s good enough!

Bands….. when should they just call it a day?
Bassybert replied to Rayman's topic in General Discussion
What a superb post, I’ve got the same outlook as you but could not have written it half as good as that. -
That’s a great read and funny too, thanks for the heads up.

That’s a lot of knobs 😜 Looks a very nice build well done!

I think it’s more a case of so much saturation in the effects market people are constantly looking for the next thing rather than objectively using an effect because of the sound and sticking with it. It’s de rigeur to chop and change pedals, the case designs have become as important as the sounds they make, you’ve only got to look at some of the boards on this thread to see people are as taken by the way they look as much as/if not more than the sound. With such a bewildering array of pedal choice nowadays I think people find it hard to stick with something in the long run. And building a board and maintaining it is as much of a hobby as playing judging by the size of some of the boards on this thread. I’m not judging at all, each to their own and if that’s what floats your boat then go for it.

I’ve never understood the flak U2 get either. The Joshua Tree is one of my favourite records ever, and they’ve written more than their fair share of top tunes that most bands would kill for. They’ve also been right at the forefront of pioneering the whole audio/multimedia experience a lot of acts pretty much use as standard now. I realise Bono isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and judging by that video his voice isn’t able to do those songs justice anymore but to deny the impact they’ve had or the great songs they’ve written is just blind.

How do we get rid of the 'Privacy' tab that's now appeared??

Not to keep flogging a dead horse as it sounds like the Ezoics experiment is over, but since I accidentally clicked on the continue with recommended cookies button I’ve had a marked increase in spam coming into to my email account. Coincidence?
