Feasibility of setting up a custom build business. Interest?

To add to the other comments here, you’ll also need your product details/photography on point to give you the best possible chance of getting a sale. I know from personal experience when looking at bitsa builds, if someone’s got crappy photos I’m out as I don’t have anything else to go on, no historic reputation etc to know I’m getting value for my money Just my 2 pence worth. -

Welcome to the forum @hedgepigbass 😊 Where in Somerset are you? There’s a few of us yokels on here!

I think it’s the first time I’ve seen a parrots beak headstock. Could be a game changer 😂

Have just fitted a set of LaBella Mustangs on my classic vibe Mustang and they’re perfect. Really nice tension and silky smooth.

I saw that advertised when I took my daughter to see the Smashing Pumpkins at Gunnersbury on Sunday. I’d love to see Khruangbin but the cost of another trip to the big smoke is too much at the moment 😔

Hi Nathan, great to have you on board 😊

Bought a Squier CV Mustang bass from Lozz - We agreed to meet halfway which meant a nice stop at a service station along the M4. Money and bass was promptly exchanged, the bass was exactly as described then we then proceeded to talk all things bass/gigs/music for over an hour! An absolute gent to deal with 🤩

Have some unused valves knocking around that aren't going to get used. They were purchased a while back as spares for the Fender Tweed Deluxe kit I built. I have tested them this morning in my amp and all are working fine with no noises of any kind. The EHX preamp valves are 1 x 12AX7 and 1 x 12AY7 - one has the original box the other one doesn't for some reason, but both are unused and have been sat in my drawer. The 12AX7 is now sold Looking for £12 posted for the 12AY7 please. The rectifier valves are 2 x NOS Brimar 5Y3GT and 1 x NOS Pinnacle 5Z4GT - The Pinnacle can be used as drop in replacements for a 5Y3GT. I bought all of these as New Old Stock and they come with the original boxes but do have signs of wear on the cardboard. The Brimar valves have a corrugated cardboard and tissue paper protective cover that come with age appropriate smell 😂 Looking for £15 each posted please. Happy to arrange local meet-up with price adjustment if needed.

Bought an MXR Deluxe Chorus pedal from Shaun. The pedal arrived super quick, was well packaged and exactly as described. Great communication as well, he's a top guy to deal with. Really happy with the pedal, it's way more flexible and noise free compared to my old EHX Bass Clone. Cheers Shaun 😁

Dunlop Tortex green triangle .88mm for me, gives a good balance between punch and warmth. I’ll swap to a yellow if I want more clack. It’s amazing how you get used to the different shapes, if I try a normal teardrop shape pick it feels odd now 😂

Sounds like a grounding issue

Stevie Wonder in Cardiff on 9th July then Neil Young with Cat Stevens at Hyde Park on 11th, then Smashing Pumpkins with my 15yo daughter in London on 10th August. Took her to watch Guns and Roses at Villa Park last week as well which she really enjoyed, and I also saw Mike Watt with MSSV a couple of weeks ago in Bristol. Pipe that live music right into my veins 😂

I bought a used one recently off the forum to fit on my precision and it’s great. I had to lower the relief and the nut slots needed some fettling but the profile is great and the fretwork was fine. I only needed to give the truss rod about a quarter turn but it was smooth and felt reassuringly solid. Hope that helps

Bought a precision neck off Pete, he was a thoroughly nice chap with great communication. The neck was very well packaged, and arrived exactly as described. A top Basschatter ☺️

Bobby bought my Squier Classic Vibe P bass pickup. He was super easy to deal with, great communication and seems like a real gent ☺️

Was at Exchange in Bristol last night to see MSSV, the experimental noise rock band with the four string legend that is Mike Watt! They were supported by local band Omega Institute, who played some interesting tunes with a jazzy, ambient feel, improv kind of stuff. MSSV were great. Mike Bagetta's guitar tones were awesome, real gnarly and cutting and drummer Stephen Hodges (who's played a fair bit with Tom Waits) was super tight. Watt was using a crutch whilst watching the support act and sat down for the whole gig which was a shame as I was looking forward to seeing him gurning and bopping away as normal, but more importantly I hope he makes a speedy recovery from whatever's happened. Playing quite understated stuff, he was using a beautiful green Reverend signature into an Aguilar head and a Barefaced cab. His tone was really mid heavy and he was really pushing the input of that amp, a lot of it sounded like a fart and I could see the clipping light flashing away like a strobe 🤣 They played for about and hour and 20 whereby they literally started unplugging kit and packing away within seconds of the last song 😂 Thoroughly enjoyed it!
